Amo a Natalia. Feliz Cumpleaños Natasha. One of the greatest dancers. Tremendously talented, her lines, her arms, and her fabulous performance make her a great one. I love Natalia. Happy Birthday Natasha

I'm currently working on writing a review for this special. It was great to get a look inside of the woman herself. This was a British program. The Brits love the travel stuff. She's not merely my favorite. She is the greatest ever to dance ballet. She was the greatest ever to do a lot of things... You do just want to sit here and listen to this woman talk. To listen to her inspire you, like a wise wistful loving sagely old grandmother...When she talks about anything, she's talking about so much more...

I enjoyed the high complement she received with the gentlemen in the beginning, it was obvious she was moved by it too.

Now I feel like I've died and gone to heaven...I had heard for years that there was this BBC Documentary, "Makarova Returns", quietly making its way around the ballet world and here I finally get to see it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

They are indeed. Osipenko had the same kind of expressive plasticity in her dancing and now that I've heard her speak, it comes as no surprise to me that she and Makarova were good friends and artistic kindred spirits. What is surprising is Makarova asking Kolpakova to coach her. They were rivals and Makarova was somewhat guarded in her assessment of Kolpakova when writing about her in her autobiography. For example, she much favoured Fonteyn over Kolpakova as Aurora.

Me too. Lopatkina was as obdurate as Makarova was compelling in her suggestions in how to bring the steps to life. Immovable object against irresistible force. I still remember Makarova's suggestion for Lopatkina to dial down her six o-clock supported arabesque penchée so as not to hide the Prince's face, a suggestion that Lopatkina was said to have blithely disregarded on the eve of the actual performance.

Why would you want to go back? You cant have your cake and eat it too. I'd be a little insulted if I were the Russians. Really? You didnt want us!

Why did it have to be either you are with us, or not at all? Art doesn’t discriminate. Art cannot be limited in its creation. If the Russian would collaborate with other cultures, it would only strengthen their own.
