To the people asking why buy fake pearls: Majorica pearls are a regional artisan handcraft that predates cultured pearls. In many cases they are still far less expensive than their cultured counterparts. And they are a designer brand with original copyrighted designs. I own cultured pearls but I also own Majorica pearls. They all have their place.

I LOVE these pearls....!! Beautiful...practical....wear them anywhere, anytime and they're not the very high maintenance of cultured river or sea pearls while still being organic....natural....!

One time I drank too much wine on an international flight crossing the Atlantic and I was talked into buying a necklace and earring set under the impression that they were real and I was getting a deal, it was not a deal.

What I don't understand is why people would not choose these over natural pearls. They look exactly the same, they're very practical plus if you think real pearls are of better quality, think again. Over time pearls do loose some of its natural oils and will become dull and ugly in the end.

They won't lose their polished lustre if you keep them clean. Pearls that are washed in small amt of warm water and a little bit of detergent depending on how often you wear them as They will absorb cream from your skin, perfume, etc.

Keep in mind, anything that is natural is better! Why would natural pearl cost more? They are rare. Now if you talk about South sea pearls, Tahitian pearls, that's a whole different ball game.

@@bellen7912 but pearl farming can have an environmental impact in marine life if good aquaculture practices are not followed.

Real pearls are carbon neutral and sustainable. In fact, Mikimoto farms reached carbon negative. The farm in the Philippines that produces golden South Sea Pearls and those in Tahiti that produces peacock and black pearls, according to research have more biodiversity than surrounding seas.

They're labor intensive handcrafted beads that are valuable in their own right. Glass can be valuable. Think of them as being like Gripoix.

I like the idea of having a pearl with parts of the whole sea in it. Some pearls are industrial harvested. By contrast, I prefer to have one made by hand that has organic materials in it than one that from a mussel that was forced to built up layers around an artificial core that was placed there.
