What I can tell you is people have to eat one way or another. I've noticed a lot more people buying food at supermarkets and Walmart. Some of those people appear to look like they only used to eat out most of the time but now buying groceries instead. Eating out has become a lot more expensive in the last couple years and it appears the economy is slowing down. Foot traffic at many quick service and fast casual restaurants have come down in 2024.

When inflation cuts into the middle classes, holiday funds and no vacation time because of no money that’s when everybody begins to hold back on spending. Nobody wants to work without a vacation and nobody wants to do a so-called stay vacation. There is too much money being wasted on too many increased prices, and your paychecks can’t support the bare minimum after the bills too many things to pay for such as water, gas, electric sewer, cell phone, Internet, Disney package Hulu package, gas for your car and any equipment if you may have to run your lawnmower and Weedwhacker or generator if the power goes out( if you can own a generator).Prices are ridiculously high. No one cares for namebrand anymore. That’s all out the window until companies learn to stop being greedy so every time you get a raise, everybody wants to put their hand in your pocket to get a piece of what they think you just made because the news said you did. Job reports are incorrect. People are not returning back to work because they can’t find the quality job that will pay them to survive with just a basic standard of living.

Guessing, inflation will win out in the end. Any deflation the rate should fall in response and inflation will roar back in.

From 1974-1999 California minimum wage could get you 1g of gold for 2-3hrs, today it's 4-5hrs. Gold isn't going to come down much, minimum wage in California needs to be $25+ per hour yet somehow Georgia and Montana get away with $5.15 per hour and iowa and Texas are still on federal minimum wage at $7.25... The average wages dropped by a factor of 10 from 1930 to 1935. Today's avg wage is nearly 64K or $32 an hour, so atleast it can't drop by a factor of 10 but maybe a factor of 4 to 8 depending.

It will bring the CPI down, but only because they lie about CPI being a measure of "inflation." Inflation is now - puffing up the SPX now, and will effect consumer prices 18+ months from now. Supply and demand = demand down, prices down. Inflation = supply of *currency* down, prices down. Super simple distinction.
