From initial dealership visit to completion, about three weeks. Had to wait for new radio to come in. Took about 10 days.

You saved me man. I have a 18 Ram Sport bought brand new. A year later is started bubbling up and ghost touching. Called dodge they wouldn’t do anything about it. Here we are 3 years later I come across your video and 91000 miles later things are looking good. Just took it over and got the work order done. Waiting on the replacement. You are the man. Dealer confirmed issue. The service tech said it is even happening in new cars as well. Called Uconnect and they said they will escalate my case and I should get a call in a day or two.

Hey friends! I bought my 2018 Jeep Cherokee used and I was just told that because "the entity" does not make any money off of used vehicles, they do not offer goodwill warranties. He told me the only thing I could do was file a complaint with the NHTSA. Just sharing for people who may be in the same boat. Thank you for making the video and trying to help people.

Same issue here. I called Jeep today and said they won't replace under good will warranty and there's still no recall. I have a 2018 JGC. Only has 39k miles. My bubbling is so bad that I now have ghosting. Tried turning on the heat this morning and it kept changing to AC. Navigation system puts in it's own addresses. Radio stations go on and off. It's crazy. But no time to dick around with Jeep. I'll buy the ebay replacement and fix it myself. What a joke. Jeep should be ashamed. This is a major safety issue.

@@OctaneRed392 Yes. They said there was nothing they can do since it was out of warranty and I don't qualify for a goodwill warranty. Something about how I'm not the original owner (it's certified pre-owned), and my family only owns one Jeep. Local dealer wants $1200 to fix. I bought a replacement on ebay for $400.

That’s what mine is doing. I called yesterday and was told that there is no recall they are starting a case on my car and if I pay for it to save the receipt because if there is a recall they will reimburse me.

Single owner garage kept 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude, large bubble at top of screen phantom touches as well as failure to read touches. Thanks for the post.

Yes I can say they have corrected the problem with the replacement radios. Mine is still working fine.

I stumbled upon your video while searching for a way to remedy the delamination issue that my Uconnect 8.4 is experiencing. I called the 800 number you provided and the case manager who answered my call admitted that screen delamination is a known issue, affecting 2017-2019 models equipped with Uconnect 8.4. Although my warranty expired 3 months ago, I was instructed to take my vehicle (2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee) to a local dealership for diagnostics, after which they agreed to do a goodwill replacement. The work is actually being done as I'm typing this. Thank you so much for posting this video, as well as the number to call.

Glad it worked for you. Unfortunately not every dealership is the same as some people who have went through the same process, their local FCA dealership service department is not as willing to provide good customer service in assisting them with the Uconnect issue. Also just a heads up when your with the Uconnect issue the case manager will be notified and will ask is there anything else not working right with your vehicle. I would use that option to tell them any and everything wrong with your vehicle. I did this and I was able to get my door panels replaced because they were starting to peel back away from the windows. So the worse thing they can say is no🤷🏾‍♂️ I highly recommend taking that option.

Blessings to you! You are the absolute best! I followed the instructions and Checked Flag in VA, is installing a new radio free of charge right now. I have been dealing with this uconnect radio issue in my 2018 Jeep rubicon for almost a year! It cost nearly $1100 to replace/install and I was given a case number with the option to submit the invoice to Lauren at DaimlerChrysler for reimbursement or let the dealership in my area handle it. I decided to let the service department handle it, of course…. Thank you for sharing this video, and the information including the direct phone number.

I can attest to what this man is saying. I too started seeing the screen delaminating and as soon as the frirst two bubbles showed up, I made the call to Uconnect. It is now at least 1/8 of the upper right corner gone. Uconnect called the dealership i deal with, i went in for a diagnostic which my dealer did mot charge anything for, they called uconnect, ironed out the details, and just last week ordered the new unit. Granted this has been a 5 week process to this point, but im getting a new radio at no cost. Trust what he has said in this video. Not everyone is experiencing this issue, however those who are, follow suit with what he is saying. Uconnect is aware of this issue, and are taking it on a case by case basis.

Update. Got confirmation from UConnect about replacement after dealer inspection. BTW was not charged by dealer. Some people are getting charged by them. Don't pay! Waiting for radio to be delivered to the dealer. Thanks again brother!

I had to go to a Dodge dealer first then after inspection approval they ordered the radio. They installed it 3 weeks ago. No charge at all. Did you call UConnect and get a case manager?

what year is your jeep and how many miles are on it? apprently only 3yrs 36000 miles is covered only.

This needs a class action lawsuit. Everyone's screen will fail prematurely. I'm honestly surprised you don't have more views on this video.

Not a big fan of lawyers but I agree on this one. In the mean time, I show every single prospective Ram buyer my 8.4 screen delam and I've already turned many to Ford and GMC. It's not a safety issue so Fiat Chrysler doesn't give a sh*t. Obviously, it would affect the executives' year end bonuses.

I have done a update video showing how FCA paid for the replacement as well as some other uncontrollable issues that happen with the Dodge Charger (2015-2018). The door panels for me was another issue that FCA took care of as well.

@@bocaburglar yes you are right about dodge not making this a recall for chargers and challengers made between (2015-2018) since it is not a safety issue Dodge will not have a recall on the Uconnect system which is a major problem in my opinion as it is one the major selling point for the dodge lineup. The salesman literally have a class on it to entice people to get the car because of the Uconnect system.

My 2017 Daytona did the same thing within 1 year of ownership. Replaced under warranty. Second unit lasted a year and did the same thing. Car was out of warranty but the dealer told me the first replacement has a 2 year warranty and agreed to replace second time free of charge. This is happening in ALL Jeep/Dodge/RAM vehicles. They still haven’t fixed the issue so plan on it lasting a year max.

My 2018 Chrysler 300 limited had the screen problem. I went to the dealership and after checking they are going to replace today. Took over 3 weeks to get the parts. I have only 13,000 miles and out of factory warranty since I bought in December 2017 but still in extended warranty. They wanted to charge $100.00 and do on extended warranty until I told about the 800 number then they checked and said it would be no charge. I just love my car. This is crazy… I left my 100 year old grandfather in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee while I ran into CVS to pick up his meds. When I came out to get him the car was blasting the heat and he was panicking from the heat. He said the car just started doing it by itself and sure enough the 8.4” touch screen was going nuts. Mind you this was in 104° Palm Springs.

My 2017 dodge charger does it soooo much it’s so annoying it presses so much stuff the whole top left portion of the screen that I can’t even listen to music without it pressing redial or connection to usb 2 or a bunch of other stuff depending on what page I’m on just soo annoying when you pay so much for a car

The problem with the unconnect system is that it has no internal fan so it gets real hot in the back so the solution that I do when I replace the radio is to drill small holes on the ac vents on the both sides of the unconnect system so when the ac is on it can circulate the cool air on it and if you don’t want to do that u can add an external fan behind the radio

I fixed mine myself because dodge wouldn't fix it . It's the glue melting in-between the screens . I pulled the radio out , used a blow dryer on the screen and used fishing line to separate screens . The hardest part is cleaning the excessive amount of glue (with rubbing alcohol) but my screen will never do it again because there is no longer glue to melt

Just found this video, my 2019 jeep Cherokee is having the exact issue. I went to the dealership today and they submitted a claim, I was told since I’m signing the 36,000 miles it should be approved at no cost. So this is definitely happening in the 2019 models with uconnect.

Glad it helped they should fix it as long as you report it and they (dodge maintenance employees) submit the correct documents sometimes the maintenance employees at these dealerships don’t like doing their job.

I called the number in your video as well and they did not help me. CS said they are aware of the issue but there is currently not a recall however they will reimburse me if there is a recall. Called dealership and they wont do anything either. Somehow it is also draining my battery. My next step is to file a complaint with the NHTSA. Someone could start a class action lawsuit also.

Sorry they didn’t help you Heather. When I called I went through the prompts and talked to a Uconnect representative and they passed me on to a agent who literally walked me through the process and also got my doors fixed because they were separating at the top by the door handle.

This should be a security recall, I can't even answer a phone call because it hang up itself and one day, the car even called 911 by itself, had to grab the phone to hang up the call and turned off the bluetooth, I'll call tomorrow, but by the looks of it, it seems they won't even care

Mine has called 911 several times and the first time it went through. Try explaining that to the 911 operator, I even offered to pull over and wait on a police car so they could verify I was alright, but they finally believed me and ended the call.

If you ever need to research, the exterior touch layer over the display panel is commonly called a digitzer. I just upgraded my head unit to a kenwood 7" and the android auto is great. I only paid $300 for mine, but I'd be pretty upset too if the screen started messing up within a couple years.

Remember when the replacement fails it has its own warranty regardless of your vehicle warranty status. Dealer told me the part has 2 years. So when it starts happening again, take it back for a new unit. Because it will happen again... sucks because it’s the only real problem I’ve had with my 17 Charger. This is still a problem in 2021 FCA vehicles.

Omg I really appreciate you. I have this exact problem. I can see the bubble on the top of my screen, where it's malfunctioning at and acting as though im pressing it. Didn't know what was going on. I will call that number tomorrow.

Great video man. I'm having that same issue 17 charger. My screen now thinks it's being touched and ends calls and changes settings on it's own. My car is 100k though, I've had it about a year. I hope they will replace mine. Also both front door panels are peeling at the top. Pretty sure that is also a common dodge thing.

Thank you, my brother I’m in the process now. I took my Dodge 17 today to the dealership. Dodge took some picture hopefully everything go well. Hell it’s not like I did anything wrong I got in my car one day and it was a little bubble in the corner of my radio. I didn’t pay it no attention until my screen start just randomly start clicking every icon by itself. I have no warranty hopefully they can just call a recall on all them. 1300 is a lot for a new one. Hell the new 1 might do the same thing! Thanks brother

Actually I did call the number you said and I got a case number…..btw thank you…..but I have wait 2 weeks for my dealership appointment (supposedly they cant get me in until then). The other night was really bad……radio was freaking out….it actually becoming a safety issue. i tried to change the setting to stop the beeping but it won’t let me..!!! personally I think this radio is possessed.

Had the same issue with mine, started top left corner. Also drivers side door panel started to come apart across the top edge. Luckily I was still in my 3/36K but talking with the service people they said even if I wasnt they would have pushed to get them fixed since its a common problem.

I drive a 2017 Charger RT. Mine started bubbling at about 45,000 miles. At around 65,000 miles about 2 inches across the top of the screen is one big bubble. It glitches constantly. Called uconnect, they said take it do a dealer and verify it needs replaced. I did, uconnect back, they said there was nothing they could do about it. Dealer said the new unit is around $850.

​ @OctaneRed _392 ​ @Saeyd Osman *** UPDATE *** 11/6/2020 after i took the car to the dealership it as " Radio Touch Screen DELAMINATING " and they weren't to eager to help or anything just because i was out of warranty (47K miles) so i called back to FCA and i started talking to a dude that after i told him the milage he voice tone change and he just wanted to hung up. after a couple of minutes back and forth he end up transferring my call to a MOPAR extended warranty department and he hung up and the guy didn't even knew what was going on.. so i said to the guy that it was not his fault and i hung up. 5 minutes later i called again praying to get somebody to willing to help and so i got it. she escalated the case to the supervisors and i got a call the next day and she said she wanted to confirm the diagnosed and go from there. the yesterday FCA lady called me again and told me that they couldn't cover the whole cost and i would have to pay a $300.00 deductible and honestly i said HELL YEAH because if i say no i have to fix it on my own probably no ending right. so for $300.00 i would get a brand new infotainment. plus the unit it would cost way more than that. and i even mention about the forgiving one time replacement and they told me thats something you paid like a gap insurance but i did not have it. also with the lady that help me i mention your situation but i told her i have a friend that fix it and was out of warranty lol. plus i told her this could be a distraction to me while driving and have a accident. but for the most part they worked with me and im happy about finding this video. 2 more weeks or less and i would have radio again. I have a dodge charger 2017 sxt and i’m having the same issue. I called the number that you provided go in touch with Patricia nice lady. I told her what was going on gave her my info and she put me on hold. She told me that my case has been assigned by a case manager and the should call me no later than a day and tell me what they can do. Fingers crossed i get it replaced for free it’s becoming annoying when the music changes and just yesterday it called 911 so hopefully all goes well.

Hopefully they replace it free of charge also if your door panels are lifting by the window seals just mention it to them, when they ask if you have any other issues. I did and they also replaced my door panels all four of them.

So I called the number referenced in the description but I had no luck in regards to the "good will" forgiveness replacement of the Uconnect. Was your vehicle under a certain mileage or warranty? My 2017 Jeep Compass has the same issue. The dealer will not do anything, however Uconnect is. I have had issues since 2018.

Wow sorry to hear that. It must be because of the current time the automotive industry is in right now. With all of the issues on vehicle production due to the chip shortage possibly. Hopefully Uconnect will reimburse people who have this issue resolved. I’m currently in a line waiting fir my car to be worked on and yes it is another manufacturer issue smh.

Mines was on the top right corner. And yup around 2 years old when it started happening. And exactly. That's why they have the buttons on the back of the steering wheel to minimize the amount you touch the screen. No reason this should be happening after 2 years dont matter where you park the car. I got denied. Told me electronic warranty was 36k miles. I took it around 50k. Damn. You got lucky. Screens are 500+ used and 1k+ new. Smh.

So I bought my 2018 grand Cherokee used from a dealership. I noticed the screen after I bought it. I noticed it not long after and since then it’s been fine but this morning it froze on me. Is this something Uconnect will replace even if I’m not the original owner of the car? An no warranty?

called the number, they didn’t help, said my cars basic warranty is out. called my local chrysler dealer for my 2018 chrysler 300s and they scheduled me, she said it’s 165 for the diagnostic but it could be less or more depending what happens and what they see and the labor and all that. etc etc looks like i will have to pay out of pocket but seems like it won’t be full price for a new radio which is good. mine is barely starting to bubble on top so i wanna get it done now before it gets any worse. i’ll check back with an update after the appointment.

@@OctaneRed392 just got back in my car, the guy that helped me was straight up with me before taking it in and said “considering the vehicle isn’t under any warranty, you will have to pay full price for a whole new radio”. i asked him if the whole radio HAD to be replaced and if it could just be the film over the screen replaced and re-glued, he made a call and told me that there are only specific years and vehicles that they allow for that repair and mine wasn’t one of them. So ima have to do this shit at home on my own, he was quoting me like $700-900. Rip off asf. Even the guy himself said that it’s too expensive and that he’s had people go and get aftermarket radios instead because how much of a rip off it is.

I’m having this same exact issue with my 2017 charger. In the video you mentioned you have warranty for it, however I do not. Since i don’t, would I have to pay to get it fixed or would it be free too? In a comment I saw that your door panels were lifting too. My car has the same issue as well. Did you pay to get it fixed? I have a 2017 as well and it started happening to me in 2019. Random buttons being pressed, shifting between USB/radio/Bluetooth. It got progressively worse and in Summer 2020 it got so bad it started messing with my AC buttons....which is horrible in 100 degree weather. I decided I would replace my screen since I feel like that's where the issue stemmed from. Bought a new screen last July for $300....worked fine up until last week...when random buttons were being pressed again....this is how thing started with my original radio🤬.

@@xonex1xtimerx373 yea it sucks and the reason there is no recall for this specific issue, is because this is a Uconnect issue not an FCA issue. The Uconnect system is in FCA vehicles is still separate from the car and causes no driving issue. It would be like blaming FCA for the speakers not working that would be a alpine/beats by Dre/ or Harmon Kardon issue. These are all contracted vendors. So we have to go through them not FCA. Only way this would be on FCA is if it was a major driving hazard like the cruise control setting staying engaged even after applying the brakes. That’s why that was a complete FCA vehicle recall for any vehicle that had a Uconnect radio. Sorry for the issue I hope the info I put out in the video will help you with your problem you are having.

I just called UConnect and they told me I would have to go to the dealership and get a diagnosis first and they could work from there.

@@konohamaru9812 that’s weird they fixed mine and it was out of warranty. I have to be honest I do take my car to the dealership for anything and everything that is routine maintenance. This way I keep a good relationship with the maintenance team. Not sure if this in fact helped me with my situation. I did receive the number from my local dodge dealer maintenance areas. I hope it works out with your insurance.

Just took my 2018 Grand cherokee today for Evap code and asked them about the delaminating and they said it wasn't covered ( neither was the evap code) and the new radio was like 2k. Is this something outside of the (we got an extended) warranty? Like a recall or something directly through Chrysler? Thabsj for the video.

Call the number. Who ever said it wasn’t covered gave you a half truth. It’s probably not covered in your vehicle warranty but the Uconnect issue is covered through Uconnect you have to call the number mentioned in my video description field. Have the last 8 of your vin ready and they should be able to help you out. I was out of my warranty when I got my radio replaced.

@@OctaneRed392 just called that number and it went to Stellantis which is Dodge basically. Not UConnect. They said the same thing the dealership told me, that it's not covered under my warranty. Not sure who everyone else is talking to.

i barely notice mine start peeling, my question is the manufacture warranty right. even the center piece is coming off too 🤦‍♂️

Thanks for the view and comment. As you saw in the video my vehicle is also a 2018. I was out of my warranty by miles at the time of my issue. They still fixed my radio and they have done so for other people that stay in the Savannah GA area, who let them know about the Uconnect issues they were having. Depending on your FCA claims agent you can get others things fixed also. As you also saw I got my door panels replaced.

Just tried to call right now and they gave me the same run arround that my vehicle is out of the 36k warrenty and i am the second owner that if i want the issue fixed it would have to come out of my pocket is there an updated # or method to try she sounded like she really didnt care and i even asked to speak to a manager and she told me they are going to say the same thing

No, that's the only number that I'm aware of.

The Uconnect touchscreen delaminated, & the heat turned on max with the blower on 7, only the off button turned it off. A very hot September day, and the heat turned on. The computer senses the delamination as someone touching the screen.

Yup mine would blast the heater too in 100 degree weather...along with other crap. I should call uconnect and tell them I had a heatstroke due to the delaminating turning on my heat to 100 and me not being able to turn it off. Bet a recall would happen😆😆

Now the digital speedometer is out. The analog speedometer shows 29 M.P.H. But, the digital display shows 71 M.P.H. I got another appointment.
