Major Sumner: Complete Interview

Major "Muggi" Sumner, an elder and cultural ambassador of the Ngarrindjeri Nation of South Australia, sees many of his people following a way of self-interest and forgetfulness of Aboriginal values. Muggi tells us that Australia is a land big enough for a lot of people, but only if they are considerate to one another.

This video has been up for more than 5 years. It has 6000 views. The new Justin Bieber video comes out and it hits a million in less than a day. The state of the world is appalling..

What do you expect, we've been lied to about aboriginal people through propaganda since we got here, told they were primitive and barbaric, this coming from the people who decided to steal the land from the original people and lie and tell us that we all came from Africa, even though the genome studies say that Africans are seperate from the rest of the world and that everyone else came from the original people of Australia, told that they didn't even have a bow and arrow yet captain cooks journal states that an aboriginal man appeared just before the british planted the flag with a bow and a bunch of arrows. They have had their kids taken away and taught that they were evil people. People who have been here for at least 400,000 years who have so much to teach us and we would rather ignore them. It sickens me.

Every Australia Day we should re do our greetings and negotiations. Do corroboree to learn from eachother. Each town re-do the meeting, then party and dance

@colloredbrothers It shouldnt be "amazing"... it was like that for centuries, for them and us, somewhat effortless, till we fucked it up. Its the most normal of things, if you think about it.

No mate, you could live basically in a traditional way, I as a white wouldn’t be able to live free like you because I was brought up in the modern world and don’t know how to fish, hunt ,survive in the bush. You could live quietly in the Corryong ,still receive the pension, still receive modern health and medicine and when your time is up still be entitled to aged care. Lead by example and live your old way , no one is stopping you, I mean what I write, I genuinely would love to live free . All the best.

a lot of black fellas are living traditional life, most of us have lost our sacred sites and territories,we cant just go anywhere in the bush mate,we still got our laws to follow,we can only roam and live on our tribes territory, and see all your cities and towns, they are built on our territories

@@aaronfranklin6863 Fair enough Aaron, nothing is perfect any more, I am a white fella , never hurt or wished harm to anyone. I worked around the Corryong for years and I’d love to be able to camp there and hunt and fish. One thing we still have the best of people, very small amount of nasty ones out there. I wish you all the best,Wilson..
