Major Restoration
Ойын-сауық
I will try to restore a antique grandfather clock.
The wood is chestnut. This is the last part.
Restauro de um relógio de caixa alta todo em madeira de castanho com mais de cem anos. Está em muito mau estado. Este é o video final.

You have given me hope for the grandmother clock I just received from my mother. It needs to be refinished but I’m not sure where to start
Didnt look suitable for a burn pile and you restored it into something encredible and very desirable
Super Arbeit Dankeschön fürs Zeigen Grüße aus den Saterland

My goodness that wood is thick! It must have been very heavy to lift the hood onto the top.
Great works as allways

What i don't understand is why would anyone build a door to cover up the pendulum swing?
Hello I have a movement like that one in my shop I have got it running but sometimes it will not strike on the half hour can you give me any information on how I can correct the problem?
Really really surprised at all the nails you use in that thing

Красиво
This was amazing. Your work is incredible. What about the hands of the clock and were there bells? Where did the clock end up?
@FromTheWood
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. You can hear the bell at 29:27. The hands did not exist. I asked a coppersmith to make them. The watch belongs to some friends of mine.

@@FromTheWood Two questions: how old is the clock and did you use chestnut to repair the moulding? I was wondering if that was pine.

@@melissachimera They told me that the watch has over 100 years. The wood is really chestnut. The chestnut tree is a very abundant tree in Portugal. Thank you
did the clockwork have any bushings and why no hands
@FromTheWood

sorry for the late reply. The watch had bushings. The watch had no hands in good condition. I asked a coppersmith to do them and they didn't come in time for the video to be published.

What liquid did you use to clean the gears and metal parts of the clock?
