@@bradleysnow2139 your correct it’s could be a lot of other things but more than likely with that low compression it could mostly be rings. Head gasket but if it was a head gasket coolant will be all in the engine and it will be blowing out smoke. Also, I think if it is a head gasket I believe the only way it could be is the head bolts aren’t torque down properly in a order.

Squirt some oil in the cylinders that had low compression and retest. If they improve then you have ring problems.
it's worth fixing. fox body mustangs are going up in value.
This mystery needs to be solved
pour some oil into the cylinder, if the compression is higher, the rings should be replaced and if there are no changes, the valves are not tight
@mrman17
3 жыл бұрын
That would usually show if a loss of compression is due to rings or valves, etc., but with blow-by that bad it's obviously rings (or something else). Valves won't cause blow-by like that.
@micahhill4786

@@mrman17 only other thing could be a rubber valve seal that keeps oil from going to the combustion chamber. My money the rings wasn’t gaped properly and half ass.😏
Randy, I totally get where your frustrations are. I’ve been there with my many flips. Anyways, if it’s solely about your “fans” and content is concerned. I believe this could be a great series not with just you but with the addition of weird beard as well. You guys can make it happen and the viewership would be worth it (in my opinion). Good luck and regardless...we’ll keep watching!

I was really hoping he was going to pull the head off, but now we'll never know what the issue is
I’d love to see this car back on the road, and it would be great for the channel if you kept it for a while, modded it a little, and drove it like hell
I would love to know what is wrong with it and get it running if it's a beast on 5 can you imagine on 8? The fun you could have that?

I'm guessing that maybe they somehow leaned it out on the driver side bank, and if they were throwing all of the boost or all of the nitrous at it, then that could cause that damage.

Apply pressure to cylinder with air compressor and listen to it where it makes hissing sound. If sound is coming from cylinder next to it then it has blown head gasket between those cylinders.

You should have checked to see if the bolts were even torqued on that head
@micahhill4786

Judging by whoever worked on it they probably didn’t torque the head in the order it should have because if it isn’t torque in order the head wouldn’t seat with the block.

What's the point you ask.... CONTENT MAN!!! Why else are we all here?
Do a diy sort of rebuild. New head gaskets, ball hone the 3 cylinders with new rings. Then sell it. I think this would be neat to see if it can run again without a ton of money.
I like this series! Please continue the build Randy!
Go into it Randy...I'd love to see the reasons it has low compression.
I think you should continue to fix the mustang, just to fix one side of the engine I think it's worth fixing.
With the amount of aftermarket part on the engine and quality parts. I think it would be something worth fixing forsure.. the engine àlone running properly is worth what you paid for the car. I have just built one of these. And that motor has lots of money spent on it
Had a 1990 GT and these cars are fast and fun to drive. It's well worth putting the money into. Pull the motor to fix and while the motor is out, get out the welder it fix the rot. Love the fox body Stangs and this one needs saved! Keep up the great content, stay safe! From a fan in Canada.
Randy, my head agrees with your first assessment: sell it. But this is AAR; you Rebuild Auto Auction vehicles! I think a lot of us would gladly follow you along on that journey. But, ultimately, it is your call on this and you are the one who will have to live with the consequences. Whatever you decide, we will continue to follow you along. 👍
RANDY, KEEP IT AS PROJECT CAR. MORE CONTENT TO THE CHANNEL. THEN KEEP IT AS DAILY.
Rings on cyl 8 and head gasket on 5 and 6?
Loving these foxbody videos!! Even though yit had all the issues, it’s great content for your channel!! It’s still a win win!!
Personally I think this is great content. I enjoy the investigation into figuring out what happened. I'm sure others have mentioned this since I haven't read the comments but a leak down test would probably be a good test at this point.

+1 for the fix it crowd. Foxbody's are going up in value and personally I'd love the see the head gasket content. Weird Beard certainly knows some tricks as to those rusty strut towers.
do a shot of oil in 8 and see what the compression does, that will show if rings are the issue or not.
You can fix the sketchy welds by just grinding them out and redoing them.
I’d rebuild it if I were you brother, that car and engine is absolutely sick💯💯
Fix this car. Bring it back man. Have a whole series on it. These cars deserve to live on.

Piston rings. There lies the oil in the cylinders, and the extra smell of gas in the oil.

I would love to see this car get back on the road
That engine in the cougar would be awesome. You have options. WB could drop that engine in one of his F100s. Good video.
Well, I would try Blue Devil and see if it comes around like the Thunderbird. If it does, it wouldn't take much to repair the strut towers.
I have had the same issue with head gasket(88 302), low compression on one side and exhaust blowing into cooling system and also pressurizing crank case making the blow buy look far worse than it was, fingers crossed its just head gasket, checking your channel to see if you carried on :) You're so close to be able to change the head gaskets !!
I think that the fox body has given you a lot of valuable new knowledge, so not a total loss,,, You have given us the same knowledge and we got it for free,,, so,,,, keep up the good work Randy,, we love you,,, :-)
Fix the engine, then swap into the sn95 gt
A leakdown test will identify where the compression is going
Totally agree with ya. Button it back up, get it runnin like you found it, down the road!!!
Having moved from Louisiana to iowa. Stay away from rust. You made the right call
Randy even rusty you have a goldmine here. Fix that thing. The amount of time and money that's gone into the motor. You will have a 7k car all day long.

I vote to rebuild it. I think that car has tons of potential!
Set a budget and stick to it, just to get ya money back, it’s going to need gasket rebore and new pistons & rings on 3
you can't win'em all randy , still enjoy the content thou.
Gidday Randy from Perth Western Australia. I have been watching your channel for some time now and just love ya videos dude. Haa the poor Mustang, oh the rust. Money pit for sure. To fix or not to fix. Mmmm that's the million dollar question.

Is this Auto Auction REBUILDS or Auto Auction QUITTER?
I was asking because me and my dad wanted to have a project car to work on together, no matter if it take it all apart or small repairs.
Keep it that car is the reason why I stay watching
i would do an oil compression test on those cyls

Good morning Randy, I would like to see the mustang come back to life😃
It could be a head gasket blown near where the intake meets and could be causing the blow by. The cylinders pushing pressure into the crankcase.
I think this is kinda a cool car, of course up to you but, I just found the little series of this and I don’t know about everyone else, but I think it’s a pretty cool car and would love to see more.
You have most likely broke rings . Or busted Pistons .
Fix that fox body Randy!
Hey so I im actually a previous owner of the foxbody. I owned the car for about a year and unfortunately sold it in 2014 because i needed money for school. The car just looked so familiar when i saw the thumbnail on the first video you posted at the auction yard. I did find the foxbody at the auction page which showed as sold and was able to see the VIN number to confirm it was the one I owned. Its pretty crazy watching it on youtube now! I still have the registration papers from when i owned it. But about the car, honestly it looks, runs and sounds just like when i had it so not sure if much has been done to it. The engine does look cleaner with some parts painted and the pulleys look to be replaced. I never got inside the engine so cant tell you exactly if thats how it was when i owned it. The exhaust is different though. It had rectangular tips in front of the rear tires so yeah all that smoke would just go inside haha. Ill for sure be interested if you put it back in auction though. I do auto body myself so it would be a cool project for me to have back.
Randy.. show it some love.. it'll be worth it.. I had one and when it came to selling it I made almost double what I had in it..

Randy the EGR gases come up through the heads into a channel in the lower intake plenum into a channel in the upper plenum to the EGR plate that is between the throttle body and upper plenum, coolant lines go into the EGR plate to cool down them EGR gases. You you took off that upper plenum, there is a round hole between the runners and a round hole in the lower plenum that match it when it's bolted together. The EGR gases for the EGR plate comes up through that round hole to the EGR Plate. Not the best ideal from Ford because the ERG gases heat up the lower and upper plenum.
Randy you are 100% right on this one. The best decision is to send it back to action! I buy cars from Iaa all the time, in situations like this one the car has to go back in order to recover some of the money, sometimes you'll get you money back sometimes you'll lose some money. This is auto action life! Good luck 👍
Randy i hate to see you put her away man, you're literally the king of saving these hoopties! You gotta put a ring on it and pull that drivers head. Please save her man she's got potential!! #savethefoxbody

As Kenny Rogers sang You got to know when to hold 'em, Know when to fold 'em,Know when to walk away, And know when to run... Is knowin' what to throw away, And knowin' what to keep. Time fold'em on run away from the fox body Mustang. Even if you fixed the motor or replaced the engine, then you have to fix the unibody and other body work, then more money and then $$$. No matter what you decide to do with the fox body, I know you will continue make great videos!
