This is great - I've been waiting for this!
Another good video. I always find out from you that there is an update. I appreciate it.
Watched a number of videos on LRC updates, none have gone in to detail as clear as you. Blown away by the updates so far, I genuinely did not know about the credits system so I thank you for that. I have used some of the updates you mentioned, but not all yet. I have a new M3 MacBook but didn’t know about clicking on the image, I have actually been working traditionally from the side bar, every bit helps in speeding up processing when you shoot thousands of images. Thank you for the info…and subscribed 🤙🏻
Waking up to this release and your vid! What a great day !

G'morning, Tim! It is a great day!
Brilliant Brian, thank you for clearly explaining everything re generative remove snd also I can now move my cloud images to on a hard drive, will do a test !!
Thankyou for making everything make sense. The sharpening tools now make for better sharpening and your descriptive explanations help enormously.
Thanks Brian. I played along with my own photos whilst watching. Generative Remove...... fantastic!! Thanks for the vid

Happy to help, Steve!
Thanks Brian. I agree that Adobe is doing a great job with these updates. Very exciting!
Thank you! Your course is excellent and so are your You Tube videos. You go at just the right pace and explain things very well.
Great Video Brian. Love the Cloud to local feature. I moved totally to LR with your help and haven't looked back. LRC is just too much for my use.
Many nice new features Brian. I especially like the Archive capability as my Cloud space is filling up at an alarming rate. A key under the hood improvement though for those using Sonoma 14.5 is that moving the loupe of the White Balance or Point Color picker to a photo no longer causes Lr Desktop to crash and in addition, the loupe works properly.
Great! Thanks, Brian!
Thx for explaining the new tools
Thank you for this excellent update and tutorial. You did a spectacular job of explaining it and every day language again thank you Rusty Iron Mike.
Great video and thanks for your content.
Great video. You explain things so well. Even go beyond the basic concept. Enjoyed your Cross Lightroom classes also. Thanks.

Thank you so much, Gary!
So what you are telling about „credit based system“ and „feedback“ means, that paying customers are used as unpaid software quality engineers and when it get‘s out of beta (vulgo: early access) we have to pay extra to use it?
Excellent video ❤
Thnx Brian! Like in your paid tutorials: always accurate and on the point without any distractions or marketing fuzz. Yo

Very VERY GOOOOD! only question is this only for lightroom and not lightroom classic or both?
Thank you very much 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great explanation.
Enjoyed this video, the AI remove is awesome! Worked great on some images, but inserted random objects on another, but this was on an old PC . Most of my Photoshop use has been removing people from travel photos - no more!!
Informative and well explained Brian, thanks. Does the ai removal impact resolution at all?
I wanted plugin capability! 😩 But the added features sure are nice to have! Thans for makin this video Brian! 💜

@@brianmatiash I'm not too keen on the Slideshow feature, didn't use it in LrC. Do you, or have you ever used such a feature?
New to your channel - awesome video
Thanks for sharing this Brian. I played with generative remove already, and it looks good. I also tried using it to fill the blank corners of perspective corrected images, but unfortunately, that is not available, so I'll still have to round-trip to PS to get those filled in.

Yeah, Generative Fill and Expand still require PS. Hopefully, we'll see that in LR one day.
Downloaded the iPad version yesterday evening and indeed, I am very impressed. The 2 Desktop versions ‘Classic and Cloud’ were downloaded this morning. Still, looks as if ‘Mobile’ is still getting “watered down” versions of the update. While the AI Generative removal tool is great, however, there was no Generative Expand, still have export over to PS on the i Pad for this task. The updates to the Blur tool are welcomed but again, not as feature-rich as the desktop version. Still waiting for the Denoise and Enhance tools, Sky Replacement and a few others. Still, I am grateful for this, it was a nice surprise. Looking forward to your video on the video on LR Mobile, maybe I missed something.
Thank you Brian, for taking time and explaining all these features in a very detailed way to us much appreciated! - Do you know why there is no calibration tool on the mobile version of Lightroom I have been waiting for years literally for them to make this also available on the mobile app do you have any insights or thoughts on this why we don’t get the calibration tool on the mobile app?
Excellent video, Brian. Thanks for showing the new features. I agree with you, it’s pretty amazing how frequently Adobe adds major features to Lightroom! I understand what you mean by subscription fatigue, but certain subscriptions I don’t mind paying. In the case of Lightroom, I think it is a bargain. I also appreciate how Adobe hasn’t raised the subscription price (it’s been the same for as long as I can remember). But I really don’t like the sound of a credit-based system for certain features. If Adobe goes that route, I sure hope they include a reasonable amount of “credits” (I can barely say the word) with the basic subscription. I just want to use the software-I don’t want to think about credits!
i was using the early access lens blur minutes before the update window popped up on my monitor. I had decided against using blur because it just wasn't getting the right plane--specifically, one object closer to the camera was out of focus with things behind it iN focus. Then I updated Lr and went back to Blur and it nailed it . With generative remove, I deleted a small sign (like twice the size of a no parking sign) on a pole in front of a bookstore. The shop window was all books--showing the covers. Generative AI remove put objects that look like books where the sign was! Granted, the titles of all the books were out of focus, so they were blurry rectangles, but still, nothing short of magic.

How much is Adobe going to charge for the “credits”? This could turn into a real problem that could alienate current customers and be an an unexpected expense for pros who might really need the savings in time and effectiveness of the new tools. Will PS move to a “credit” system? Are the new tools better than is what is already in PS?
Nice Video.... I share your enthusiasm for Lightroom. I shoot the Fujifilm GFX 100S. Actually Camera One provides a better rendition of raw files for this camera. Nevertheless, after testing C1, I stayed with LR for the reasons you've shared. Also, I can reach the same end point with LR as C1. It just requires a few more steps. Because I do things one at a time, that is no problem for me.
Hi Brian. Thank you for another great video. Do you know if the generative erase result matches the resolution of the current photo or is it limited to lower resolution?
@brianmatiash
27 күн бұрын
Great question, Rodney. Generative Remove uses the same 1024x1024 base resolution as the other Generative AI tools.
The best part of this update is that I can now save $10 a month by dropping my photography plan down to a lightroom only plan!
Nice comprehensive update. Only one question remaining and I’m pretty sure I know the answer and will satisfy my own curiosity, but I assume that the connections are broken once you move photos from the cloud to local storage.
Pretty sure that LR,LrC and ACR will merge together one day in the not so far future. I would love to see Maps in LR also and a little bit better Culling. Right now I switch between LR and ACR since Bridge works better with ACR. Besides great Video, thanks
Thank you for the great information! I just checked and early release AI edits are counting against monthly credits. Just thought people might want to know it’s not free to try which is unfortunate but slightly understandable considering the resources needed to run the AI.

That’s not correct at all. While Generative Remove is listed as Early Access, you will not be deducted any credits for using it. Refer to this: community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/p-new-ai-powered-generative-remove-early-access-available-across-all-surfaces/m-p/14631319#M365078
Great video, Brian. I particularly appreciate your bringing to light the fact that Adobe is no longer content with their record profits generated in part by a lifetime monthly annuity funded from my bank account. Now they want to charge users _per_ _stroke_ . Are you kidding me? This is just unbridled greed. And before anyone tries to defend this new revenue stream as an attempt to simply cover the cost of remote AI computations, explain to me how this justifies expiring credits. How does zero uses in one month followed by one hundred uses the next cost Adobe more than 50 uses each month for two months? Adobe will continue to bleed their customers of every last dime until enough people finally say "no".
How about the resolution of the generated image/partial? Is it still limited to max 1024x1024 so if the selected area is larger than that the result is all blurry and unusable?
Thanks Brian for these videos! I'm considering getting an iPad Pro, but am unsure what storage size to get (considering 512GB or 1 TB). What size do you use?

My pleasure!
Given the power of the iPad processor now if the Generative Remove can be local to the machine and not via the cloud, then I don’t see why there should be any need for cloud credits. Or have a two tier approach - use Local processing with no credits and good results, or cloud processing with use of credits for excellent results. That would seem fairer to me and should be technically possible. What do you think Brian?
Is it possible to use the Archive function to store the photos on another cloud service, e.g. Microsoft OneDrive?
I’m going all iPad this year. I got the M4 13” 2TB cellular. The way Apple spoke about AI I’m expecting big things from Adobe! This stops me from having to go to Photoshop to do this very thing with generative fill!!!!

@@brianmatiash now I need Adobe to be able to read its own smart objects completely so I don’t have to switch to Affinity when I use sports templates 😂😂😂
I love the Generative Remove. It great for cleaning up food photos......I wish feedback would also allow comments if you click yes....
Would the Archive feature finally be a way to move over to LRC? I have 140,000+ pictures going back to 2005, that I finally have them in albums exactly the way I want - Every thing I’ve tried in the past would loose the Folder/Album structure. A few reasons i want to move back - I’m in the process of scanning countless negatives and prefer the Negative Lab Pro, and I recently got into home large format printing and can’t find a good workflow to print out of Lightroom Desktop.
I assume that the generative fill is not done locally and that it sends your image to Adobes servers to process it?
Lightroom is the best!
I’m only using an INTEL MacBook Pro will this fist option work for me?
Once you archive the folders locally. Could you then use Lightroom classic and import them into that catalog with the edit data?

I have LrC on my PC, couldn't get Gen Remove to remove two leaves. It kept changing their shapes but not removing them, meh.
How much impact on computer resources does Firefly have?
Is the generative ai still only in 1024 x 1024 size high resolution like in photoshop?
@brianmatiash
27 күн бұрын
Yup, I believe it is.
I just wish Adobe would add to Lightroom for iPad. That is the only thing missing which keeps me using Classic on the Mac. I would much prefer to edit on my iPad Pro. And now they have M4 processors, there is no excuse that the iPad Pro is not powerful enough!
Is there a resolution limit to how big an area can be removed, say like the 1024x1024 resolution limit in AI Generative Fill?
@brianmatiash

There is no resolution limit in terms of the area to remove, however the content being filled in is still limited to 1024x1024.

Does using Blur, now that it isn't early access, cost credits to use?
@brianmatiash
11 күн бұрын
Nope. Lens Blur is not a Firefly-powered tool and doesn’t require generative credits.
Generative AI = Microtransactions in a subscription based application. That is going to drive users to other platforms.
I believe each stroke impacts your 100 monthly generative AI credits. If this is so, it’s kinda sneaky that they haven’t mentioned it don’t you think?
Even with the competition make it for free, like Google already has, so does Samsung and now Apple is releasing it with iOS 18. Honestly, I don’t think adobe will ever charge for this tool.

Ha ha. Agree. I have tried to love LR but keep reverting to LRC when I get frustrated by what it cannot do such as Maps and Smart Collections - I use the catalog a LOT
So we're paying a monthly subscription fee to be Adobe Beta Testers, and once they have all our feedback and they are able to fine tune the tool, we'll get to pay again (if we go over the allotted credits the Overlords grant us) to use the tool we paid to test for them. If I had the time to learn GIMP and Darktable, I'd ditch Adobe forever. Also, as Luminar Neo continues to evolve, they will likely add this type of feature without a credit system.
@longboardfella5306
27 күн бұрын
Or else you can look at it that you get early access to awesome features with the Beta program. GIMP is fine for Open Source but suffers from not having a master plan - huge UX complexity. You have to pay for someone to keep engineering a product. Anyway thanks for sharing your thoughts. The credit system is controversial I know

I am not a fan of AI. It presents something other than the photo that was taken. It’s a firm of lying
@brianmatiash
27 күн бұрын
Can I take that to mean that you don’t apply any edits to your photos? No dust spot removal? No color or tone enhancements? You just press the shutter button and share exactly what the camera took as you exposed it? If so, then that’s great. I don’t agree with your assessment, but I respect your decision to not edit your photos… if that’s what you’re saying. Because, in truth, one could argue that you’d be lying when you apply any edits to your photos because “it presents something other than the photo that was taken.”
