As part of the 2nd of March Croydon & Sutton bus changes, Route S4 has been withdrawn between St Helier Station and Sutton Town Centre. This section of the route has been replaced by new route S2.
At the same time, the route was extended to Waddon Marsh from Roundshaw. This is to replace withdrawn route 455. The route now serves Beddington Asda, Therepia Lane Tram Stop, Ampere Way Tram Stop (for Valley Park Retail Centre), and Waddon Marsh Tram Stop.
At the same time, the frequency has been increased from every 30 to every 20 minutes Monday - Saturday. An every 30 minute Sunday service has also been introduced. This has increased the PVR from 6 to 10. A crosslink with route 464 has been introduced.
Route S4 now runs from Waddon Marsh Tram Stop to Sutton Town Centre. Via Therapia Lane, Roundshaw Wilson's School, Woodcote Green, Wallington Station, Stanley Park Road For Carshalton Beeches Station, Belmont Station, Sutton Station, And Sutton Bushey Road.
Route S4 is operated by Transport UK London Bus, From Beddington Cross (BC) garage. It uses single door Enviro 200 8.9m and 9.3m buses. It is now 13 miles (21 km) long. The route starts operating at 05:45, And the last bus runs at 00:52.
