This city looks like it has A LOT of heart. I will be visiting Derry and N.I. this summer!:)
Love this video! It was a wonderful year in Derry and Frank Gallagher's arrangement of this song makes it Derry's own. Fabulous!
by far my favorite song right now :3
God bless you, Dear.
I love this version of “Let the River Run”. Carly Simon covered it for the 1989 movie, “Working Girl”, but this version is better. (Note that the Carly Simon version was remastered in 2004 - and that sounds much better than her 1989 movie version). If you watched “Castle Rock” then you heard the Carly Simon version. Mairead Carlin is wise in her use of actual instruments rather than synthesizers. It sounds so much more authentic. Anyway, listen, watch, enjoy!

Carly Simon didn't "cover" the song for the 1989 version, she wrote and composed the entire song herself specifically for the film Working Girl. The use of synthesizers and jungle beats was specifically chosen to match the rhythms of the busy working streets of late 1980s Wall Street New York. The jungle beats was used as a juxtaposition of the urban concrete of the "silver city" that is New York. If you watch the incredible opening scene of the film where tens of thousands of commuters from Staten Island (not to mention millions more from elsewhere) travel to Manhattan every day by a ferry traveling along the Hudson River, you'd see the majesty of the way the true original version fits the film to create a sort of parable of a very specific American/new world aesthetic of new hopes, dreams, and ambitions that many flock to New York to achieve.
A very emotional vid!

I'll upload it to the fansite! :)
Is this an annual Irish country celebration? If so what and when is it?
While I loved the song & visuals, I think that in this one, Mairead overwhelms Damian's voice. It would have been better if she could have blended more with him.

Only problem is that Mairead is a much more powerful singer than Damian. Its a bit harder seeing as he's a bass and she's a soprano.

mattycakes117 Agreed, but I think the song was meant to showcase her vocals, not his. She has solo parts, but he doesn't. Plus, there are back-up vocals when he sings, so it's even harder to hear him.

Damian's only about 20/21 here and she's several years older, so her voice is more mature. She's also classically trained and he isn't.

Respectfully, Mairead is simply better.
