Maintenance tips to help prolong the life of your Ford 6.7 Powerstroke diesel.

This video is designed to help inform you about some maintenance tips to really help pro long the life of your 6.7 Powerstroke. Most important assets for these trucks are 15 quarts of 10W30 Ford Powerstroke diesel motor craft oil. As well as Archoil AR6500 Fuel additive to serve as a lubricant for the CP4 high pressure fuel that these trucks are equipped with and are at high risk of failure due to the lack of lubricity in the fuel served in the states

Great video man. I used the same set up for years with ford 10w30 with arch oil additive. I did oil lab test every other oil change. I switch to Shaeffer 5w-40 or 10w30 lab results came back was better by far. I do use their fuel additive still.

Thanks for your time. Still running my/08 6.4 modist tune kept at stock or tow. Not a street racer. 260k km 's and I need a new trans valve kit sensors and clutch package $5k Cdn + $2k install 😢 but it pulled a trailer for probably 220k Km's. Hay this truck has paid it's way. I'll through in a re and re engine or turbos. Just love it. Deleted at 100K miles. Huge increase in milage HP with little to no diesel in the crankcase oil.👍

Great video man. Not a lot of people do their own maintenance and if they do, they don't do a thorough inspection. I don't run my truck that much so I use Hot Shots Secret Green Diamond Diamond 5W40 oil. I also use their fuel treatment. I change my fuel filters every 15K along with my air filter. Grease everything up as you said and look for leaks. When I do run my truck, she runs hard towing our toy hauler. Routine maintenance is cheap insurance. These aren't Hondas that you can run forever without maintenance.

Thanks for watching! And yup you are certainly correct many don’t do their maintenance. I am very thankful for the channels out there I have learned a lot from over the years such as Powerstroke help, Powerstroke tech talk W A rod. These trucks require a few extra steps maintenance wise to prolong it but by doing them it will definitely pro long it! I have owned this truck for 6 years now. Other than maintenance and a few small normal wear and tear items no problems at all.

Great rundown of the basic maintenance points. I took a tip from a diesel mechanic & always pre-fill my oil & upper fuel filter. Both save wear on your engine & fuel pump. Question: what tires are you running? I like the tread pattern. Looks like they’ve held up well for the first year.

Archoil fuel additive is a good call. Would not recommend any oil additives to a quality oil. The Motor Oil Geek posted a really good video on why not to use oil additives. Covers in depth lab results and its pretty amazing.

Very important to include the CCV filter every 30,000 miles. That thing will plug up and crank case pressure will push oil out of the upper oil pan. That’s all 6.7s.

@@projectswithdustin6405 absolutely, there are dealers… actually, it’s not the dealers it’s Ford Motor Company that is denying warranty claims if water is found in your fuel! That is ultimately what will take out the pump. They have the control of warranty payments. I wouldn’t give Ford any more foder to deny a warranty claim when a CP4 grenades.

Forgot to add, upgrade your air filter & box with a K & N box & washable air filter element. The air box is almost twice the size of OEM so you engine can breathe easier. Install is DIY, just plan for it to take some time since wrestling the larger air box in place can be a bit of an adventure. It’ll fit - just barely. Never buy another filter element again.

Never ever would I run a manufacturer’s oil or oil filter. They don’t make their own oil, they buy the cheapest oil that fits the engine specs and sell it. I ONLY run Amsoil in my 6.7 and I ordered a 2023 F350 Lariat Tremor with the 6.7 H.O. , the same day I pick it up it will be driven straight home and that crappy stock oil will come out and Amsoil go in. I will also be doing a ccv reroute that same day as well. I do not want any oil in my intake, intercooler, or in my EGR making a soot and oil paste ! One of the most important maintenance items is running a diesel fuel additive with EVERY FILL UP !

Ford has actually done extensive testing and developed an oil that far exceeds the newest standards. If your Amsoil specify's CI-4, then you are running and oil that Ford has found to create high wear on the 6.7. The new Motorcraft WSS-M2C171-F1 specification exceeds the CI-4 by a lot.

@@67_PowerStroke No Sir, Manufacturers run the bare bones needed. They want to sell trucks, so real engine longevity is not a concern to them as they only care about what happens IN warranty. Amsoil and Hotshot Green Diamond oils are the best in terms of detergent and lubricity packages, they put in what the manufacturer won’t. Ask any motor oil specialist and they will tell you that. But hey it’s your engine.

Ford spec for extreme winter schedule has 0W40 as the winter weight oil up here in the Great White North. T6 Rotella makes a big difference when that truck cranks in the -20C to -45C zone. You can hear the oil hit the cylinders right away compared to heavier weight. 15W40 would be pretty thick at those temps. 5W40 T6 for summer and a can of seafoam every third tank year round.
