Scenic drive along the coast of Maine's Southernmost town, Kittery, Maine to York Harbor, ME just over the border from Portsmouth, NH. Although Maine is a relatively small state (Don't tell Mainers this), it holds the 4th most coastline in the United States with nearly 3500 miles of coastline and islands. At the southernmost point of the coast is Maine's first incorporated town Kittery, Maine. Between the city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire and coastal beach towns like York and Ogunquit, Kittery holds a historic importance as a Naval Ship building community, famous for restoring the USS Constitution. It is not necessarily a beach town but catches many southern tourists on their way north with the Kittery Shopping Outlets and plenty of opportunities to find themselves some fresh Maine lobster.
I hope you enjoy the scenic driving tour through Kittery, Maine. The purpose of these videos is to bring some relaxation or showcase tourist destinations in their natural state without music or narration allowing the location to be the character. Please comment below if you've visited, hope to visit, or found some anxiety relief or stress relief from taking a few minutes to travel with me.

I hadn't seen this video before this morning. I love 103 and we take it into Kittery at least once when we're staying in Maine. I love the peek-a-boo views of the harbor as you enter Kittery and I always think how nice it would be to live in one of those houses.

@@MileMarker4k : I grew up there. 103 is definitely the back way up to York! Beautiful scenery, but it can get rather cold and windy in the winter! Kittery and Eliot ( the town just north of Kittery) are basically bedroom towns, and don't get the crazy influx of tourists every summer that York, Ogunquit, and all of the other coastal towns get. What is amainf from seeing this video is how much that road has been built up since I was a kid - the road used to be EMPTY once past Chauncy Creek Road until you got to York Harbor! Looking st the google map now, it is unrecognizable from what it was. Just off of 103 is Chauncy Creek lobster pound, on Chauncy Creek road ( you passed it at about the 5:20 mark in the video ( not positive about that - it has been a LOT of years since I was last there, and things look a lot different!) - probably the coolest lobster pound you will ever find anywhere, and it has been there since at least the early '50's. Used to go there as a child in the '50's and 60's. There is also a small beach at the end of the road ( after it turns into Seapoint Road) that for the most part only the locals know about. On your right (while on Chauncy creek Road) is what used to be, way back when, an island (Gerrish Island) that houses Fort Foster, an old submarine spotting and gun battery fort from WW1 & 2. Half of the island was privately owned by one family, but was sold off back in the 70's ( I could have bought it for a half million!) that now has some of the priciest homes in the area. The fort is well worth a visit, as you get to see a lot of the harbor area. You also go by Ft. McClary, which has been there since the Revolutionary War, and was manned up until WW1. Again, well worth the visit. If you continue up State Road ( the road you were on when you crossed into Maine), there is a traffic circle with a memorial to the USS Thresher (SSN 593)- the submarine that was built at the navy yard and was lost at sea in 1963 - the worst submarine loss ever. My father was supposed to be on the shakedown cruise, but thankfully medical issues kept him at home.

I LIKE the video drive through! See a LOT more than little squares on gps… But…🙄is that 30mph through those Tight nit house areas?? I’m no authority-don’t worry-i see signs in those tight spots and places like elsewhere-cape cod-everywhere seemed like 30. Maybe You ARE @‘that speed! & viewing it seems faster than when we drive it-obviously your cameras Dadh mounted because it’s SO SMOOTH!👍(but we know, people walk out into the street with their heads in the clouds!) . Ps loved the Mini Suspension Bridge! Never knew about it to I came across your video👍😊

Thank you! No worries needed lol these cameras do tend to make it look faster than it actually is - been asked many times on many driving videos Ironically many times I miss the views when the cameras are on because I'm on high alert for speed limits and cloud lookers 😂
