I've watched all your videos, some twice. This one of you fabricating the rotor blades is the most interesting. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Thanks because you share your skills with the rest of us.
Parabéns estou espiando desde o início apreensivo por ver voando essa sua máquina, muito capricho serviço de primeira 👌
I must say, your systematic approach to this is to be admired ... well done Sir!!!

It is great blad you have very talent.👍
Would be nice if you had access to some cnc mill for mounts and profile pieces. Your fabrication skills are great.
AWESOME… now I know how it’s done…. Thank you 🙏👍
Wow, that is fantastic. I wish I'd seen you do this 10 years ago.
Magnífico trabajo 👍
Muito show de técnica e paciência
Un trabajo espectacular👏👏👏
Al fin alguien muestra como hacer los rotores, muchas gracias, me aclaro muchas dudas para hacer los míos.
Sir. you are doing these well. Perfect tutorial for us to learn & very nice & complete workshop.. god bless you!!!!!!!!.
Those black bolts you put together really should be dipped in Loctite before torquing them down✌️🇺🇸
I loved the freehand counter sinking . great video Thanks
I think you should taper the root reinforcement. If its going to fail it will fail where the root reinforcement ends.

If they calculated and/or simulated loads and correct materials, this shouldn't fail. 20 screws and less stresspoints and more unbroken lines keep the moving parts stronger. Actually 22 specialised screws, looks overengineeredThis is also composite and looks very well worked out.

This should be good. It is quite over engineered given the intended load.
Muito Bom, ver um trabalho de precisão e de grande abilidades nas mãos de profissionais como você ,parabéns pelo capricho.
Simply wow!! This is one of the best build videos with so much detail. Welcome back!! ❤❤
Exelente trabajo muchas gracias
There is such thing as a Machinist level for the blade grip area. They are much more precise than a Carpenter’s level. I’m surprised caulk is used instead of fiberglass resin and micro balloons. Very nice though. I’m a RC heli person. Building blades is very difficult even on a small scale. I admire your drive!

Bom diaa ..!!! Baaa tchê vc eo cara parabéns por vc compartilhar seu conhecimento abraço RIO GRANDE DO SUL BRASIL ...!!
Waouh ! I was asking to my self, how are you going to build the rotors blades , this is the most difficult part, especially the weight of each blade they should be the same , to avoid nasty vibrations . Show us your first test flight . Tumb up x2 Budy see you on your next test flight.
Awesome work! very impressive! need some of these for my Brantly B-2B
very fancy rotor fit for that Nigerian built helecopter.😊
Bring back memories of Dr.Shoemaker shop Detroit Michigan , Mc cellan & Shoemaker. 1970-1975.
It's a treat to watch you work
Dear sir it's very beautiful work but the ss sheet skin on the tubing assembly fitted only with pu foam?
вот это да! мужик Фурию собирает лопасти конечно интересно сделаны
Will also be interested in the tapes as well.
Yea goods kreatif keren very job sir!
Отличная работа !
craftsman with high skill
A lot more details to do than making a fixed wings . Thans for sharing this incredible work ❤
Never seen no shit like this absolutely blows my mind
Ini baru pe you tobe yang bagus tidak ada tipu tipu saya suka ikuti kalau saja ada di indonesia sya pasti suda pergi kursus dan kalau bisa saya akan minta kerja samanaya dan saya pasti belajar.
Stick Ruler, Haven't seen one of those since way back when my ole man carried one, daily. Lol
The one suggestion that comes to mind is that you should have made a 3 blade and use it for load and stress tests.
Superb video and job building the blades, very interesting and thanks for sharing it. Where did the blades balance in the chord-wise direction ? How close was the weight of each blade to each other? Not sure what adhesive you are using but I had an adhesive failure because I didn't etch prime or acid treat the aluminium. I was using 3M 2216 B/A adhesive, very expensive stuff but I didn't do a test sample. I suspect what you have done will be fine but you could add some trailing edge rivets just to be sure. Laminar flow separates way before the trialing edge so they won't make a difference to blade efficiency. Regards Ben
@ultralighthelicopter
Жыл бұрын
Thanks Ben. The chord-wise balance is close to 25% from leading edge. I had to replace some steel tubes (as requested in the plans) with aluminum tubes at the back side of the blade to get the chord-wise center of gravity more forward to the leading edge. Had planned to use rivets you can see the bore markings here: 21:57 but after bonding the blade the adhesive seems holding the trailing edges super strong so i wait with riveting and keep a eye on it how it will hold up after the first spin ups... I weighted the blades, they both show the same weight but my scale is only to 0.1kg exact... Cheers

@@ultralighthelicoptersounds good to me 👍 if you do have any trouble with higher than expected collective forces then you can always add springs to the mechanism, many helicopters have springs on the collective when the blades chord mass isn't perfect. Look forward to seeing some blade spinning. That's when the fun really starts.

@@juancarloscasabuono6651 Thanks, I had forgotten about the weights on the blade grips option. Wonder which is considered the better option, weight vs reliability I suppose. Of course the best solution is to get the mass distribution right.

Rotor blades How long is one blade?
This video came up in my feed somehow, but all hail the algorithm for it,,, I’ve watched a few a have a number of questions, but will wait until I get through the series as I’m sure it’ll become clearer. But you, my friend, are a madman,,, lol ;) I wish you the best on this journey, you appear to have a handle on it and know what you’re doing. Unfortunately, so many people through the magic of video editing and KZread, may appear and come off as an engineer, far too many have earned their degree’s from the University of KZread. I myself am not an engineer, though I play one on TV,,, (or YT),,,, ;) Tho through my 30 years of fabrication I have learned a thing or two and can speak confidently on a few things. Again, I haven’t made it far in the series yet, but did you have to address any heat-treating issues after welding any of the aluminum? With all your bell cranks pivoting on threaded / partially threaded stainless (it appears) fasteners, I would think that bushings of some sort would be appropriate? Some, from what I could see, are pivoting on the shank, but some appear to be riding on the threads, and with the constant cycling and vibrations,it would seem a bit safer a long wearing. Yet again, I’m no one but a stranger from the internet making an observation and offering you a well deserved "Atta’ Boy".

Well, now im afraid to fly in a helicopter now! Never in a million years, would i have guessed the blade were made like this. Sketchy, and slightly brilliant! Youd think the centrifugal force, would cause the insides to fly out. I guess thats also why theres so many bolts on the mount end. Still neat to watch!
I would think using pieces of steel stock/square pipe/T-bar etc. to clamp the TE together while foam is expanding and drying would make a more consistent and no gap TE.

From watching KZread videos on USA Military helicopters and rotor blades - they’re built out of composite materials because no metal alloys can withstand the lateral forces imposed upon them. Nomex epoxy is used to build them.
Очень аккуратно!
Had I not thought that rotor blades are so massive and heavy, rather carbon fiber and epoxy.
@Imagineering100
Жыл бұрын
Heavy blades give better autorotation.
@russella7263
11 ай бұрын
Better to use tip weights as inertia is a function of weight and speed. There’s not much speed at the root end of the blade. There are many areas of this helicopter where modern composites would provide superior strength, lightness, durability, or fatigue life. The rotor blades are just one of them. But it’s still a pleasure to watch it being built.
@pauldatche8410

@@russella7263are you implying that you can build the entire blade out of carbon fibre and resin without the stainless steel ribs? Would that be strong enough? Wouldn't that be too brittle?

@@pauldatche8410, military helicopter blades are built totally out of composite materials as they are the only thing that can withstand the outward forces.

a realy pro work ! but is it balanced
Eyo, I'll take two please. Any chance you can drop em off, while flying the third one?

Crazy cool
Just a single bolt to hold the blade to the Main Rotorhead Mount? I'll check those bolts before every single flight, just for a good measure.

Thank you for very interesting video serie. What is the weight of one blade?

That,s cool. What weight of one blade in this combination?
Hmm. Great home imagination. Wonder how they performed?
great! but dont need torsion along of lenght?
@ultralighthelicopter

thanks. The blade has a 6° torsion along its leng. You can see the twist on the jig, every airfoil-shaped wood cut-out part is 1° angle from each other
Молодец!
Very novel construction. Great workmanship. I am though surprised that the trailing edge skins are not mechanically fastened, relying on adhesive only, but being a free-edge and prone to flutter, at leat a rivet at the tip, and a few other radial places? The root of course is dealt with by the incidence control plate.

The sticker is good. But use the rivets at least every 20cm. If the Adhesive fails, the rivets will remain and it will be for you to check and correct.

I was planning to use rivets on the trailing edge, you can see the bore markings here: 21:57 but after a test of a bonded test-blade the adhesive seems super strong and i wait to rivet for now but will keep a eye on it after first spin up tests.

@@ultralighthelicopter Did you ever think of spot welding (through welding)? instead of glueing/riveting? Minimal warping I would think. (you could probably still do it if you want to, to add strength).
@harryharrison4876
10 ай бұрын
If you’ve ever seen an R22 blade delaminate, you’d use rivets! Love your Porsche!
A very interesting video. I was wondering if, when you were finding the blade CoG, was if in the same position for both blades, as in the same distance from the leading edge and from the root and tip, for ultimate balance? Also, having one end cap painted say white to help with blade tracking and a reference for which blade holder that it's fitted too.
Nice job, lot if imagination, but better not try to take into the skies...
