I like this format of promotion vs promotion. It's a good litmus test for fighters, but I'd like to see the next one in N.A. but wouldn't be mad if it was a regular NYE event in Japan.

I love how Rabadanov uses the corner of the ring and staying away from the ropes when they clinch , big difference between a boxing ring and a MMA cage , shows you the differences in the fighting IQ

not one finish? they should have finish bonuses if they don't. Not one fighter looked like they were going in for the kill. They need performance based pay to make the fights more exciting.

@Mike Lighthouse Um, not a tournament? It was a half dozen 1v1's with no progression onto the next bouts = not a tournament dumbbell. I don't even agree it should have been one as the whole purpose woud've been ruined if it turned into Bellator vs Bellator or Rizin vs Rizin, also a tournament usually isn't and shouldn't be in one night, that's a relic of old MMA which is stupidly dangerous. Still, this wasn't a tournament so maybe look up the definition.

@Mike Lighthouse A series to compete for an overall prize. What was that prize again? Just winning their fights like, you know, any other fight? A series means there is a progression and a tournament means you raise a bracket when you win and face the winner of another bracket. You can give me the most broad definition you want, this wasn't a tournament and you know it.

pitbull won for sure , maybe wasn't active enough but won since he stopped every single attack , his punches were pretty clean and he dominated going forward all the time , the other was scared and had zero control and represented zero threat to pit ...

I don't get Japan broadcasting has this 90's VHS look for sport streaming.

This event was piss poor,why no heavier fighters at least then there would have been finishes.Rizin is building their organization off of lighter weight classes which is a terrible idea often times those fights go the distance. As for the actual fights in my opinion some of the decisions were flat out wrong like the Rabadanov Takeda I gave that to Takeda by split you can make the argument that Gadzi won the first rd but Takeda got the second while in the third Rabadanov just tried hold on while Takeda was actively trying to get free to land punches to get a finish,by Rizin's own criteria its effort to finish the fight not who can hold someone against the fence stalling till the time runs down. Second match same thing you have Kim trying to end the fight with submissions while Archuleta is holding stalling against the fence also I like how the commenters say absolutely nothing when Juan gets a td and just LNP but when Kim gets a td hes not even allowed a minute to work its immediately stood up by Herzog who shouldn't have been reffing a Rizin event. Horiguchi fight was a mismatch to make Kyoji look good nothing more. Pitbull vs Koike was terrible as well its as if Pitbull was fighting just to skim by pathetic crap of a match. Main event was a good match very close fight in my opinion,truth is Roberto could have and should finished when he had Mckee's back but AJ is really good no question. All in all a garbage event especially for NYE,Rizin better return to what made them entertaining back in 2015 the tournaments the stars they produced from those early events went on to become champions there's none of that now just a bunch of shrimps fighting in every event the same guys being rotated over again.

@@MoveForwardMMA I would agree if it was under the unified rules but it isn't,the criteria is effort to finish the fight not holding onto someone to run the clock down,the Bellator fighters fought like they were under American rules where as the Rizin fighters tried to end the matches with submissions.

@@MoveForwardMMA A lot of people believed Ricco Rodriguez beat Nogueira in Pride however under Japanese scoring criteria Nog got the decision because of his submission attempts. Same thing in a couple of the matches on the Bellator Rizin card,people were awarded wins for basically stalling.

Rings with ropes are RIDICULOUS for MMA! Get a cage.

Cages are for buffoons with ropes there is more space also its more professional also its harder to dry hump someone against ropes where as in a cage that's what mostly happens.
