Mailbag: Who starts for Boston Celtics when Robert Williams returns?

With the Celtics traveling back to Boston for Monday Night's game vs OKC, it's time to dip back into the mailbag for questions about Robert Williams' return and the impact on the lineups, and the few different ways it can go for Boston. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal discusses the possibilities and answers questions about Sam Hauser's opportunity, keeping Payton Pritchard, the Cleveland Cavaliers getting better, and ballin' in sweatpants.

I'm happy to leave Horford as our lone C. His experience and leadership is vital this year with such a young coach, I see Al as like a player/coach for us. Without back to backs, I see no reason why Al can't play 30+ minutes night's as our lone centre.

Gallo being out is only a blessing because Sam got a shot but now that Sam got to show what he can do it would be awesome to have Gallo back because I would love to see a Gallo, sam, tatum, Brown, grant lineup the shooting on the floor would be ridiculous

This is absolutely not a bad problem to have if it is managed correctly. Rob likely won’t be ready for big minutes when he comes back anyway. I think - if they are smart about it - we will see a few different looks to see what chemistry works best to maintain the offense and level up the defense. It could also be a matchup decision on what lineup starts/plays big minutes. I think there is too much importance placed on the title of “ starter,” anyway. This team is deep and has options - again, never a bad problem.

I love having depth with Pritchard and Kornet for injuries and rest. As you said Marcus is flying all over the place, brogdon already missing games, having PP is a wonderful luxury. Kid can play! I say keep Kornet

Seeing Kabengele's highlights from the Maine game yesterday really makes me wish they'd bring him up for some primetime minutes, esp against younger, faster, longer teams. He plays at that pace. Him & Rob starting, just for kicks in a random game where they're sitting Al, would make for some barnburning frontcourt action! I'd expect he'd have a cult following within the first 2 mins of regulation.

TimeLord has become a guarantee in people's minds. Remember 2 or 3 years ago when people were wondering why he was only getting like 8 minutes a game? That was a different time eh?

If grant could finish more aggressively at the rim he could be such a legit starter. His vert isn’t crazy but his dunking still isn’t bad

You're #1 in the East on a 7-game winning streak. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Let Rob come off the bench. The lineup of Smart, White, Brown, Tatum, and Horford is fire right now.

I'm not "big" on the double-Big line-up... structurally, it doesn't work well (only in certain circumstances) I think they should experiment with adding Brogdon to the starting line-up. I think Tatum is better suited at the 4 where he can utilize his size, strength, and speed.

I think when rob gets back you start smart brown Tatum grant and rob bench unit being brogdon white hauser horford with Pritchard get minutes when smart or brogdon are out or when he can.
