Mail Rail, Postal Railway, Underground London Urbex

The Post Office Railway, is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge, driverless underground railway in London that was built by the Post Office with assistance from the Underground Electric Railways Company of London, to transport mail between sorting offices. Inspired by the Chicago Tunnel Company, it opened in 1927 and operated for 76 years until it closed in 2003.

This is awesome! You answered a lot of my questions about the rest of the place still standing, I went on the mount pleasent tour a few years back and was massively disapointed when the whole place was spotless and white washed, i wanted to see exactly what was in your video.. not go into a modernised platform with projectors showing a video

That's exactly what I suggested to the staff after my visit. They could have a choice of tours - the multimedia tour, or a 'classic' tour that lets you see the platforms and other areas exactly as they were when it closed. I believe they do do walking tours of the tunnels on occasions, but you're certainly not allowed to go into all the secret areas like you guys did!

@@Tomsonic41 yeah i saw they do the walking tours but from what i have seen it's still down the same tunnels the train ride goes, its cool none the less but you can watch videos from the comfort of a modern clean home, why go somewhere else to see it instead of seeing whats actually there 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂ i guess its all health and safety preventing it these days

Amazing. I've been fortunate enough to walk the loop around Mount Pleasant station, but getting through the gate was something I never thought I'd see. Methinks someone's going to be in trouble over that!

This is one of the best urbex videos I've ever seen,, instantly subscribed. The fact that such a vast network sits underground almost entirely forgotten amazes me. I really wish they'd have opened more of the network up to the public when they did renovation work for the museum instead of just a tiny section. Amazing video though guys, brilliant shots and such a dope explore. If I may ask... how do you find out about the locations you explore? There are some really unique sites you've visited on your channel.

I'm amazed by the ease you can access there places not just from a terrorists point of view but anyone with a screw loose. The only underground railway in Dublin is under the Guinness brewery complex, shows you what our priorities are. Great explore thanks.

At (30:00) mins in you are climbing up next to the mail bag chute from the mail trains above down to the mail rail. There is also a fantastic spiral conveyor to take the arriving sacks up. Such a waste of ingenuity but we're all on messaging now.

Great Video, i just visited the tunnel walk at the museum and your video was a nice extension to know what’s beyond the gates 😁 Just out of curiosity - why did you not continue to white chapel? Was the tunnel blocked or did you not have enough time?/a way out there? Thanks 😁
