In a typical installation you need 41"-45" plus 24" post, or about 70" total. At any home-depot type store just have 4"x4" post sawn to this length by an employee (this is usually free for at least one cut). The hole should be 24" deep and made as small as possible (say 6" by 6") using a two-handled post hole digger. Buy a singe 40 or 50 pound sack of readi-mix concrete. Place the post in the hole, the pour in the dry mix, tamping it down with a bar or 1" stick all around. Then pour water into the hole surrounding the post until the hole if full of water. Make sure you have a small level and adjust the "lean" of the pole so it is level. If the ground is really hard, bring a bucket of water, make a small indentation where you want the pole, then pour in a small amount of water, gradually making the hole deeper and deeper... takes some time but make the work very easy. NOTE: a 48" deep hole is not needed in my experience as 24" surrounded by concrete is sufficient.

So you need a mounting post and that's it? Do you need a installation kit?

The problem we have is the top of the bottom locking door rubs on the hinge of the upper door making it difficult to pull it open the bottom door with the little key. My plan was to try to push/bend the upper hinge up a bit with my spreader but the jaws of my spreader are too wide to fit in there. It rubs in the center so I could try a hammer and block of wood.

How deep do you install the 43" post into the ground?

They sell the wooden posts at Home Depot and Lowe's. The hard part is DIGGING a 4 foot ( or more ) deep hole into the ground to sink the wooden post far enough into the ground. Get a contractor to do it - one that has a motorized AUGER that will BORE a hole into the ground like an oil well drilling rig. OR you could RENT a Post Office Box at your local Post Office. I found that to be the easiest and most secure thing to do.

You do not need to dig 4 ft deep hole

Those are likely bots. I'd guess that somebody paid a company to promote the woodprix web site, and they made some bots to search for KZread videos that mention the word "Wood" in the title and then they span the comments, as seen below.

If all I need is a screw driver to remove it from its mounting post, is it really that secure? Lol

I hear you. Just BASH the damn thing from behind with a SLEDGE HAMMER until the 2 - fine threaded screws strip out the metal on the plate and then just slide THE WHOLE mailbox off the "Quick install" ( the "Quickly Steal" ) plate ! Take the mailbox back to the criminal's lair, crack open a beer and take their time getting into the mailbox. They just love a challenge. I'm on my 2nd "Oasis Classic" high security ( hah ) locking mailbox. They just keep prying it open. The lock hook keeps breaking from the extreme prying and the whole front just rips off. My final solution via the U.S. Postal Inspection Service's recommendation: "Get a Post Office Box at your local Post Office." They can't steal your mail from one of those. I've had my P.O. Box for several years now. I love it. Problem solved.

The screws are not accessible unless you unlock the door of the mailbox.
