Love your hide nothing approach , this way we all learn ? I’m returned to the hobby after a 30 year break and trying to catch up on all the changes and embracing electronic flight which was rare thing in my younger years . Thank you so much for your videos .

Hi Danny - great to see you coming back - I was the same - back in my day we had free flight, control line, and if you had a load of money a one or two channel (Push Button RX/TX Combo) - I could not afford it back them, Oh and as you know everything was made out of Balsa wood, I talk to people about PAW and Snipe engines and they have no idea what i am talking about - LOL - Built my own flying wings (50' control line) models - great fun.. I learnt to fly on a Balsa Trainer with a .47 GMS 2000 up front (glow engine) - I really love Electric RC Flying with Foam Aircraft.. Hope you enjoy coming back ..

Nightmare! You have the skills to rebuild her Martyn, just so sorry this happened. Flying model aircraft is fraught with mishaps it seems, can be pilot error or mechanical failure just like the real thing. I have great confidence this will go back together and be as good as new. Thanks for showing how this hobby is, elation and disappointment but having the will to never give up.

Well at least I know that AS3X was working fine on the upside-down ORX, and as you say Brian - she can and will be rebuilt, I was surprised how touch it was I expect to have to go and get my Binbag - as you say looking for Truffles - but it did look cool coming down - not unlike the WWII V1s.. I happen to have 6 million Dollars in my back pocket... Hobby King Corsair, Warbird: an aircraft barely damaged, Gentlemen we can rebuild it, We have the technology, We have the capability to make the bird fly again, the F4U Corsair will be that bird, Better than she was before, Better, Stronger, Faster

Gravity Sucks !! that for sure - Electrical failure - could have happened anytime - But at least I can repair and Re-maiden, Great to hear your Maiden went well -only 8 Grams on the nose that's great - I needed 50 !!!! , I don't like safe Mode - I feel as if I just don't have enough control - I would only use it for Windy take offs and landings - otherwise stick to the AS3X mode as I do , I was amazed at how this Little Corsair took the beating - very strong little aircraft... I hope to join you soon with my Re-Maiden.... Thanks for the watching and leaving your comment.

Im so gutted for you Martyn, was really looking forward to a successful flight and proving the gyro issue, as you say it was a wire issue, i myself have the corsair but the toprc version, i have noticed a few differences between toprc and hk, colours are a shade different, battery compartment is bigger on the toprc and the lack of pilot too! Cg seems spot on too with no weight added at the nose using a 2s 1000mah turnigy graphine, only comes with 12a esc and no gyro, im putting off my maiden lol, by the way i replaced the silly jst and soldered in an xt60 so no excuses for hot wiring, cant wait to see the re-build vids and second maidan, good luck Martyn Regards Nick

Hi NIck - thanks for your great comment - I agree with you 100% regarding TOPrc - I have just done the Maiden of my TOPrc T34 Mentor - and it is great - plenty of room for the 2s 1000Mah, no additional weight needed on the nose - In fact I had to add 20g on the tail !!! - I did install an ORX gyro in mine - taken from a spare Hobby King Hurricane I had - Working on the rebuild right now, going OK but she did take on more damage that we see here, You know I was thinking I would replace the JSTs with XT60 but they just seem a bit bulky so might look at an XT30 see what size that is - I have purchase replacement wire and JSTs but might not use them, as soon as this one is off the repair table and the weather is good - she will go up again and I will provide PROOF that the ORX upside down is good... anyway we know the AS3X part of it works because it was flying ... Stay safe and well . Martyn

@@FlankerTanker i will agree with you there about the xt60 they can be a bit bulky, the xt30 can be a bit fiddly but not as bad as the silly little jst, the good thing with xt is you cant plug them the wrong way round! Martyn - thanks for this video - you are not having much luck at present! I thought I was the only one who could have joined the JST plugs the wrong way around (thought they couldn't be connected incorrectly - idiot me!) - burnt through my cables like yours ended up. I too purchased cables from Ebay (no details on the sales blurb) and they were too thin - fortunately I suspected this and watched them burn whilst ground testing!. Have subsequently replaced and had my Maiden. Added 50g of weight to the nose and it was flying really well but needed trimming quite a bit. Whilst thinking about what to trim, I turned a little too tight and a little too slow and it tip stalled from 50ft. Very lucky as it landed in the only thick bush around and damage could have been a lot worse. My fault. On a side note, have you considered using the spare ORX Gyro from this model on your Lancaster?

Oh I don't know about the Luck - a few weeks back I had a flying session that was 100% - including the Rebuilt Arrows T28 - , at least this was not due to Pilot flying error, - a hard learnt lesson I think - regarding checking what one buys from eBay, I think it will be the same on mine 50g is what I needed to add, and she did need trimming a bit that was why I put on the power to get some Hight - regarding the ORX - I did think about it but decided to use the Lemon 7 channel RX which has Stability mode and I can also have adjustable gains on the TX.. Stay Safe and Well

@@FlankerTanker thank you, I will check it out (did not see your video to the end). In fact, recently I had a crash with my glider (FMS ASW 17, with 2.5m wingspan) where I lost control flying in 32F degrees in North Chicago. With the wind-chill, the temp dropped 6 or 7 degrees and the battery died. I had a semi-controlled heavy belly landing that caused some damage - which I have repaired. Signal interference is a problem in my airfield for those using SPECTRUM equipment. I use FRSKY receivers and transmitters and have not experienced that yet.

I do the same as you us a black pen - Infact I think it was you who told me about it when I did make a connection mistake while building the Corsair - thank you for that advice - incorrect connection was NOT the problem - its was CHEAP Chinese JST wires and connectors - the wires melted when I increased throttle - drawing more power from the battery... upto then it was all fine... I am rebuilding it right now and should have it ready to Re-Maiden within a week but it will depend on the weather

Hi, thanks for the info on how to replace prop you gave me couple of days ago. I am expecting a replacement prop from a supplier in Hong Kong in next few days. It is not from hobbyking as all their props for these planes (corsair and its equivalent 750mm models) seem to be out of stock. If you do not have a spare prop and cannot get one, I will give you the supplier in Hong Kong once I have received mine and checked that is is indeed the same size. It cost about 8 quid for a 3 blade prop and international flight postage which I thought was pretty reasonable. As I only need one blade it will hopefully do for two more broken prop incidents. And they say electric planes are the future... Fly by melting wire! In all seriousness its lucky it didnt catch fire really. Interesting point I found out the other day. Electric car insurance is over £1000 a uear no matter your no claims as in the event of even a minor accident you have to replace the battery pack for the fire risk and seeing as the battery is half the price of the car thats why the insurance is so high. Shame because I was going to buy one until I found that out

Indeed I was lucky regarding the Fire (also the battery is OK) - I have given it a complete load and discharge test....- it was an upsetting lesson to learn, I now always check my wire grades and make sure they match - I have also replaced all the JST connectors I have on my 800mm warbirds that take the 1000mAh 3S with XT30's... WOW that's a lot for insurance - we should see it come down as more and more people change or are forced over to Electric cars -
