MAHUKA POV - Intamin Hot Racer - Walibi Rhône-Alpes

POV, Mahuka, Walibi Rhone Alps: Building upon its predecessor at Luna Park in Australia, the new HOT RACER model has undergone significant enhancements. The chassis was significantly refined to enhance ride comfort and ensure an even better fit to the track. Additionally, the brand-new carbon fiber lap bars contribute to a lighter train and lower center of gravity, enhancing the experience with an even smoother ride.
Height 18,5 m (60 ft)
Length 600 m (1970 ft)
Number of launches 2
Max speed (Launch 2) 67 km/h (42 mph)
Number of airtimes 13

POV provided by Intamin
"Mahuka, meaning “escape” in Hawaiian, invites visitors to explore the heart of an abandoned temple built in honor of the God of Fire on a secluded island in the South Pacific. But be careful not to provoke the God’s sacred fire, or risk becoming a prisoner of the temple! Escape the site, conquer your fears, and brace yourself for an unforgettable ride, full of sensations you won’t want to miss!"

@@ItsDannyRobbins Update : I rode it 54 times 😂. I felt nothing particularly unpleasant. The train runs very well. Train number 2 runs a little bit smoother than train 1 but really nothing disturbing, you can chain ride Mahuka super easily without having a headache. The vibrations are quite soft and really not enough to spoil a ride. If you have other questions, feel free to ask them

The fact theyre just using friction wheels for the launches is somehow mindblowing... after all those years of LIM and such. I guess its the most cost-effective way for lighter rollercoaster-trains like these?

  • @TheChilaxicle

My guess is they are only effective for low-capacity, lighter weight trains. For example, Velocicoaster can seat 24 people per train, whereas this single rail hot racer can only seat 9 in a single row. Presumably tire launches would never work for Velocicoasters much larger trains.
