@@ohasis8331 Something funny - KZread just showed me the new functionality to check users profile. I can clearly see that almost all the guys that comment here have the same channels as me in their subscription list. Saying that I do believe that more or less we are all on the same mentality and keeping in fact how good Mike's videos are (in all aspects and not just craftsmanship) the fact that there is no dislikes is ... normal 😁.

Blind nails for marking pilot hole locations is genius. I guess you could probably drive in a finishing nail, then clip the top off with enough room to get a bite with pliers to pull em out after you're done. The poor man's blind nail haha

This is still one of my favorites that you have created. This particular piece while very different reminds me of a small, freestanding cupboard that my Grandmother had when I was knee high to a grasshopper. Thank you for the content you produce for us. Truly inspirational.

My shop will be like..well..a disco! Im excited now. Gonna be making some shelving for house organization. (A fan fr the Philippines)

+Tyreman Woodworks There is no such thing as Arts and Craft style he is just producing Arts and Crafts. There are styles within Arts and Craft such as Greene and Greene. Traditional carpentry/joinery is Arts and Crafts or I suppose we could just call it crafts. If you are a small independent maker then you more than likely are Arts and Crafts. The Arts and Craft movement which started a revival is what confuses people.
Kind of nice that the buyer will be able to watch a video of their new furniture being made. Nice project.

I love that you aren't afraid to show using biscuit joints where they make good sense from a time, cost and performance point of view. "Domino fever" seems to have made many woodworkers ashamed of the biscuit joiner :).

@@MikeFarrington I just started wood working about a year ago. I've been doing random refinishings for about two years tho. I'm starting to get more and more into designing my own. So far I've made a bench, an entertainment center, a sofa table and a computer desk. Working on a wood plant stand right now. I'm gonna check out the Japanese lantern. Been wanting to make one of those. Maybe even something on a slightly larger scale. I love woodworking. The possibilities are pretty much endless.

I find that one thing all *GREAT* YT'ers have in common are a) knowledge b) craftsmanship c) PASSION d) presentation skill. (in that order). You have incredible way of telling a story that pulls the user in. And your passion and skill comes through in spades. Without sounding condescending, without sounding like you're flexing. Just before I watched this, I had watched an Asian build a dining table & chairs for 6. It looked very nice, however I could see imperfections in quite a few places. However your work was superior, no imperfections to see and the finished cabinet was beautiful!

Olm9 mid-late ish 30's. In his tube sock table project video he speaks about being a teenager wearing flannel with his friends listening to "Daughter" by Pearl Jam. Obvious a reference to being a teenager in the 90's. Just a rough guess. Maybe he didn't mean for it to betray a specific age. But I always pay attention to his narrations and have seen most of his videos multiple times each. Top KZread woodworking channel. Quality craftsmanship, quality camera work, quality, narration, quality shop, quality human being. Always happy to see his family enjoying his company as a father. Reminds me of simpler times with my own children.

Seems entirely reasonable for a one-of-a-kind, hand made piece. The store is going to keep about a third, I suspect. Mike has materials costs and overhead (all those tools and shop have to be amortized). That looks like it was perhaps a week of work if not more.

Hey, Mike, nice design and good craftsmanship as always! I have a question regarding your finishing: I saw you using water-soluable dye, followed by an oil-based wiping stain... but no protective topcoat. Did I somehow miss that?

Long are the days when the shop apprentice was sweeping up sawdust with a broom and dust pan that was 2.5 times his size. Now he's going jack hammer style on the scissor lift. Great work again Mike. Thank you very much. Its not an easy road for Modern Bungalow. They work very hard to stock good stuff. I really like their store, when they asked me to build a piece for them, it was an automatic yes, just a question of what and when really.
Hi mike I see something that might help with future builds . The wood whisperer screwed his drawer fronts on using the handle holes I thought it was genius saves using masking tape and super glue or the locating dowel pins . I've been a making kitchens for nearly 20 years and as I always do my handle holes last I never thought about it. But it will save so much time and be so easy to line and square up drawer fronts . Anyway great video as usual cheers darrall

I have seen that, the problem I would run into is I never have the handles at that point in the project. I normally don't put on drawer fronts this way, I just did that for the sake of the video. Normally I use Blum drawer front adjusters.

I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Sorry to say, but it's videos like this that originally put me off woodworking. Massive machines most people can't afford. Go the hand tool route people.

I'm sorry you feel that way, if you found this video to be discouraging, why watch it? Why comment? My opinion is that hand tools are not much cheaper than buying used machines. In fact, I paid less for my jointer than I did for a NO 7 jointer plane.

What a beautiful piece! Mike, you do such amazing work. I love that you share the builds of things that you are doing for actual customers. I’ve been in the trades, mostly in residential construction, most of the 48 working years of my life, mostly in high-end luxury homes. It is easy for me to spot someone who truly knows what they are doing and does top quality work. You, sir are up there with the best. I love watching your work and I hope some day I get to meet you in person and shake your hand. Thanks for your time in posting these videos.
