hey guys, im so glad you like the video, i never expected this response, especially from non italians ❤️ if you want to, check out my other videos, where i translate mahmood's songs in english :) i would also like to address the "ghetto" clip. i dont think the lady was necessarily being racist, there seems to have been more of a mistranslation: she seems to believe that "periferia" means "ghetto", when actually it's almost the opposite (suburbs, outskirts...). i think she misunderstood the lyrics and tried to be #woke and it failed on her lol

His real surname is "Mahmoud" and he decided to replace the second "u" with a "o" in his stage name, so that it sounds like "my mood" (mah mood), since in his songs he talks about his feelings and his way to see things, people, places etc. He said that in an interview.

Zoe Cirina More than an "inappropriate" question (like some have called it here), it's an extremely superficial question. She clearly didn't bother researching neither the singer's background (he was raised by his mother and got all catholic sacraments), nor did she bother checking whether Italy actually has "ghettos". The word "ghetto" here is a neighbourhood where individuals of a particular religious/ethnic group (are forced to) live. It's in no way a sinonym of "periferia" (the city's outskirts). Also, other than gypsies camps, I've never seen ghettos in Italy. There are poorer or richer neighbourhoods, but Italians and non-Italians cohesist in both kind of neighbourhood.

They were a tad bit too fast for him to understand at some point. He was probably nervous as well, and it must really hard beimg nervous and have to both pay attention to what is being said and think about the right words with the right pronunciation to answer the question

Both he and even the translator (the guy in the white shirt next to him) didn't understand the question because of the pronounciation of the word "ghetto", the fact that "periferia" (city's outskirts) is in no way a ghetto and, more importantly, the fact that ghettos don't really exist in Italy. Other than romani people, no ethnic/religious group tends to live separated from the rest of the population.
