Indias first college is also in Kerala, CMS college kottayam.

Maharaja's college is not the oldest. It was established in 1875 whereas CMS College Kottayam established in 1815 is the oldest college.

Trivandrum University College was originally started as a college. The first graduate was also from University College. Kottayam CMS college first started as a school and then became a college... Those who say that it is the first college should also say why there are no graduates for 50 years.

CMS college kottayam is the second started higher educational institution in India just behind shantiniketan calcutta.

I have studied in 3 colleges. Maharajas college is the best. Almost after 30 years I left the college ,I am still so much connected to this great college. The vibe in that college is very special, it never leaves you. Libraries and labs are huge. Class rooms in science block are huge, seating is like gallery.

Fort Kochi, Mattanchery etc was actually called Kochi in olden times. And main land was called Ernakulam, when Municipal Corporation was formed Ernakulam and Kochi became one. Now entire area is called Kochi (Corporation of Kochi) Now Fort Kochi, Mattanchery etc is called west Kochi.....

Maharaja's college is built in traditional Kerala style of architecture and wood is the main component used in such buildings✨. & if I'm not wrong Union Christian College, Aluva(UC college) in ernakulam also consists of traditional kerala style buildings🧐

Aakarshitha ji hope you are fine.. University college in Tvm is also having the same structure as that of maharajas college.. Queen's way is situated in ernakulam not Kochi.. Plz do visit Jew synagogue and dutch palace in mattanchery.. That will be a great experience for you sure... Your outfit is very nice and you are looking cool

Not only this collage Kerala university is also similar there is also woods are also used there traditional way its made.

Nothing has changed there. I used to take courses in Maharajas in 1964 summer (attended full time nearby Sacred Heart college). It is a great college.

JC Rollo, Albert Mackintosh, Kuvempu, Shama Rao, K. Hanumanta Rao, and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1918-1921) besides notable alumni like writer R.K. Narayan. Also the noted politicians and film artists such as Former defense Minister Shri A.K. Antony, Film Actor Mammootty, Dilip, Salim Kumar Poet Balachandran Chullikkad, Great Geneticist, Researcher, Scientist, Author Shri M.S. Swaminathan. Etc.

Madam, all that glitters is not gold. This is true about maharaja's college. Politics destroyed everything good about this college.

The institution was founded by the royal famiy of Cochin in 1845. It began functioning in a single room as an elementary English school. In 1868, it became a high school and less than a decade later, in 1875, was upgraded to a college. The college was given its present name of The Maharaja's College in 1925.

कोच्चि केरल का एरनाकुलम जिल्ला में स्थित एक बंदरगाह (harbour )शहर है । port area को छोड़कर बाकी जहग को एरनाकुलम (Ernakulam ) नाम से जाना जाता है। बंदरगाह को गहरा बनाने के लिए खोदकर( dredging) निकाला गया मिट्टी से बनाया गया द्वीप ( Island) का नाम है वेल्लिंगडन ऐलन्ड (Wellington Island) . कोच्चि को ' अरेबियन समुद्र का राणि ' कहकर पुकारते है (Queen of Arabian sea) .

Royal Maharajas Kochi is a dream college of every students of all times! During 1975 when I was entered as first year student of science,I remember that year the College students union was inaugurated by Sri K Karunakaran then Homeminister!Akarshitha my daughter welldone❤❤❤

Northern language me maharaj Or maharajA hota he we don't use "s" Word..... Just like malayalam language trishul become trissur! Krishna become krishnaN..., ppl use also "H" Word like ankita become ankitHa in south!..... And coming to politics the hindu itself have bad image of Kerala in other state!.... It may be muslim but involves of hindu also there this sfi, sdpi, sfi this all run by malayali hindus only!

Ernakulam is the name of the District. Actually there s no such specific location named as Ernakulam. Kochi is the common name..

Too much student federation of India. Even main gate is red. It is right or wrong I don’t know. Left leaning college and students. A neutral theme is more important for a college or not? You bring in great students, nerds like, but each student in this college might need to take a neutral stand or party culture in order to survive there? Violence needs to be wiped out, big or small. Killings happened there and that is not making us proud too. Rule of law and discipline and studying and teaching and learning experience shall be fostered by all the stakeholders.
