No one is talking much about it, but i absolutely love this sample. Whether it be through Rose Royce, Cam’ron, Mariah Carey and now this reworked version, it’s always nice to hear how this song lives on. Perfect music, Never gets old

The sample is originally from Rose Royce not Cam’Ron. Google “I’m Going Down”and MJB even covered the song. Checkout some 1970’s r&b and the Disco Era. Many of the 90’s and early 2000’s songs consisted of samples from the 1970’s. I love the concept of this video. The outfits were perfect especially the green outfits. It’s wonderful to hear some contemporary/traditional R&B again. Yes, I know there are other artists that are singing R&B still but many strayed away and started venturing to the “trap”, “mumble/cursive singing and many jumped on the Pop/Rap sing train. It’s refreshing to see many younger artists singing R&B and hopefully giving props to the legends and artists who came before them.

It breaks my heart to watch that. I was being groomed by a man who was 13 years older than me at the same time the song came out. I was 14. That song was part of how I justified to myself that it was okay to ignore the fear he put in me, just like she did with R Kelly. Her death was, and is tragic, especially because she never got old enough to become fully grown and manage to walk away from him.
