Perumchellur was considered to be the cultural capital of Kerala once upon a time and lost its glory due to modernisation. In 2016 Sri. Vijay Neelakantan founded Perumchellur Sangeetha Sabha in memory of his great grand father Sri. P. Neelakanta Iyer (Company Swamy) to promote traditional music in the region. Since then music programmes of rich quality are organized and eminent musicians across the country are taking part. Perumchellur Sangeetha Sabha is one of the most vibrant Sabha in South India.

Here Vishnudev Namboothiri presented very beautiful ragaalapana with perfect modulated tone keeping the Madhyama sthai in tact.....could proliferate lovely eloquence in the exposition of ragam. The charanam is sung beautifully, with the niraval @ Sarvewshvara karunakara murtey samagaana priya veda purtey' is fine wherein the percussionists rather superseded n did a class support. I would say that all three of them will get appreciation from one n all and they will get adequate recognition in all respects.I think that I am listening to the young Violinist VS Gokul Alankode for the first time. Vishnudev's swarakalpana was almost a like a pedagogy to him and he rightly reciprocated! Class recital

Beautiful. Meditative. Sri DKJ used to sing this kriti very often. Not many have sung raga alapana in revathi with this expanse. Sri Voleti Venkateswarlu is one of the greats to have sung the alapana. Violin is spectacular.

Very evocative performance by the entire team. Nice to see this masterpiece of Sri Sankara Iyer being treated in such royal fashion. Listening to Revathi Raga treated languidly and elaborately after a very long time. Vishnu’s rendition of this krithi reminded me of Sarvashri DK Jayaraman’s. The great man popularised this krithi. Gokul has made his great Guru proud with a sublime response. Kammath Sri Balu always elevates standards of every concert. Good support from the mukharshanku Vidwan. Thamburan’s blessings to this entire team. Thanks Viju, VIjay Iyer for this treat.

I made the mistake of listening to this with my headphones…. there’s this really annoying person, seemingly expressing his appreciation by making periodic “tch, tch “ sounds …I guess that’s the price to pay in a live concert recording!
