Not just for Hindus, I am muslim ,we grew up watching Mahabharata as a family n society. I remember my neighbours would come to watch it in our home as we had colour TV at home, they would put diya 🪔 in front of tv. I loved the women empowerment part by Draupadi. She was my favourite character. It is our culture and history as a Indian.

Kiddo, if you think Mahabharat from 2013 was great. Then you should check the 1990s Mahabhart series, that was truly Epic. We made advancements in technology, but the overacting and bad cg in 2013 show is awful. Please do yourself a favor and check 1990s show or ask your parents about how good it was.

@@mucool328 It depends tbh...I like 2013 more, because its more dramatic, and tries to atleast glorifies the visuals...which according to my taste is better, and the characters they had chosen, god!!! they were so apt. Saurabh jain as krishna ji is what I imagine when I think of krishna.🥹The songs also attracted the audience. Also I was just 8-9 then, in my formative years, so people tend to like what they see in their youth.

Mahabharat is a saga in which each character is unique in its own way. Every character is so rich and diversified that if you watch the scenario from his/her angle you will witness a new vision. Only Lord Krishna is the one who can tell you if you were right or wrong in your doings. For example:- I'm a huge fan of Shakuni, if Lord Krishna was not favouring Pandavas he alone without even lifting any weapon was capable enough to destroy them. He was so intelligent that only Lord Krishna can outwit him. I can go on an on.....

Itihasa is not fantasy, it is not history either at least not in Sanskrit. Sanskrit words and Hindi words may sound the same but do not always have the same meaning. Nyaya, for example, in Sanskrit means ‘method of rational reasoning’ and refers to a philosophical school of thought (darshana), while in Hindi it means ‘justice’. In Sanskrit, itihasa means cultural memoir, and refers to the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata that connect Ram and Krishna to Vishnu. in Hindi, itihasa means history, a subject that considers Ramayana and Mahabharata as Sanskrit literary works, not more than 2,500 years old, composed using Panini grammar, retelling ancient orally transmitted tales, which contain cultural frameworks, such as the concepts of karma, dharma, atma and avatara. (Not my writing, got it from an article explaining the meaning)

"What is not in it, is nowhere," is what is said about the Mahabharata. An Indian epic that has love, politics, emotion, drama, moral values, action, betrayal, celebration, suspense, etc. Lots of Indian and possibly foreign stories and myths have been inspired by the Mahabharata. It is also the longest poetry in the world. The Bhagavad Gita is a part of Mahabharata. Another such great Indian epic is the Ramayana. A really good Indo-Japanese animated adaptation of it was also made in 1992, a movie that I watched countless times growing up. IMO, a recommended watch. There have also been other adaptations of Mahabharata and Ramayana. The theme song you watched is from the one Star Plus made in 2013. Both are very fascinating and engaging epic tales, even for non-Hindus.

Well if you think the older version is free from flaws then you are wrong, there are several mistakes made in the serial too. Personally i have watched both Mahabharat, and I love both of them. New one is not only known for its vfx but it has some amazing life lessons given in between the episodes by Krishna Ji's character explained in an easy and beautiful manner. I know the older mahabharat has that ancient feel, but it doesn't mean the others cannot ge good.

Song is easy way to transfer knowledge for one generation to another generation.Geeta include all kind answer related to life. And "Mahabharat" is story of every character in that war.

Mahabharata is not only associated with Hinduism, it is associated with Indian Subcontinent in general.! It is an epic like Gilgamesh of Mesopotamia. The ideas, stories, the messages, the complexities are beyond something one can imagine. This epic brings out the grey nature of human beings. how both heros and villains are overlapping in their actions. No one is absolutely bad or good, only relatively! and all of this greyish stuff is coming together in other characters. Mahabharat is the name of the war which is actually the climax of this epic. It is of great cultural significance! I'm a Muslim and ig, I know more about it than my hindu friends because im an history student and love literature... This show particularly do justice to it's glory, it's one of the few great Indian television shows.. Everyone should watch it!

Okay you're a bit mistaken here. Hindu and Indian is the same thing. The people of Central Asia associated India with the Indus river called Sindhu in Hindi, as they couldn't properly pronounce it they started calling Indians as Hindu and later during the British rule, it was still associated with Indus river hence came the name India. Many people would be ignorant and call Hinduism a religion, but it is not. We belong to Sanatan meaning eternal truth, and it ain't even a religion, it's a philosophy and sadly most of the Sanatani people who call themselves as Hindu doesn't even know about this so it's obvious for you to get mistaken too.

So, what I commented is actually true. Gita, teaches a lifestyle. Mahabharata is an epic (poetic form of storytelling) which engulfes everything from the start to the end of dwapar yug. Peace 🙏

2013 budget of this series is just 20.5 million dollars at that time for total 267 episodes and 24 seasons long..... now that is 77,000 dollars per episode which is unbelievable. Still at that time the vfx and on the eye to the budget the series is amazing great dialogues and true Indian history ❤

If you want to know Mahabharat, just watch the series. It is nearly perfect. It's a product of it's time. It has it's defects. But it is the perfect way to understand the greatest Epic of India. Quick tip -The bgm can be lengthy, so you might feel the need to skip that and get to the dialogues. But I assure you it is really gripping. The story itself is brilliant. It transcends the frame of just story telling. It reacquaints one with life and helps one find answers they were searching in their own lives. The story is eternal and still very relevent.

well let me tell you that mahabharat is way more epic than bahubali if you see both parellel to each other you will find some similarity between characters like: bhishma, krishna- kattapa (sacrificing, showing right path, due to promise have to stay on side of evil ) shakuni, dhritrastra= bhalaldev's father {body problems} bahubali=pandavs (both's father were given throne due to incapabilty of elder brother) kaurav= bhaladev (anger for brother) panchali- devsena(bold, confident, liked by both brohters, was molested, lead to husband's departure from palace) lot more

Definitely Mahabharat should made in a high budget and release it worldwide. Not just Mahabharat the Hindu sculptures have many books that are based on true events with a great story ❣️
