    I've had a TVS2300 on my daily Camaro SS, for 50k miles, no problems. Makes great power, all throughout the power band. Again, for my DAILY driver, it's great! I guess if you want to run 2x the boost everyone else is running with these YMMV. I've loved mine.

    just what I've been looking for. I was going to put a catch can on mine and wanted to clean the intercooler of oil deposits. I've got 70000 miles on my 2110 camaro with no catch can. I was told by a supercharger builder not to clean it out with seafoam. Looks like the one end with bearings is dry, no gear oil. this might be the reason why. I would have no problem taking mine apart now. thanks Man!

    I really am considering swapping in a complete LSA engine and Tremec 6060 from a 5th gen ZL1/V2 CTS-V in my 2001 Silverado. I had a D1-SC Procharger and I had nothing but problems with it. The only way I could fix it would have been to get a direct drive bracket that would isolate the Procharger head unit to it's own 8-10 rib belt. Plus I wasn't impressive with the power delivery of the centrifugal supercharger on a vehicle as heavy as a Silverado.

  • @spikedrift

    @spikedrift

    Lsa engine would be a good swap. Anything roots style is great for power delivery. The prochargers are an absolute dog down low unless it's over driven to the moon and majority of the boost bleed off at power rpms. No magnuson.

I am not the only one that has experienced Maggie issues , the bottomline is the money is yours, you can buy a product with this many known issues or buy an edelbrock that can last till the end of days. Racers saying, There’s no replacement for displacement… Supercharging is a close second. Things break when you race, find the problem and fit it, move on. For low end torque noting beats what you’re using, except maybe NOS. But, I’ve blown shit up with that too. Running 20 lbs of boost you’re lucky it’s only the supercharger. I’m installing one of those in my Jeep, just for that reason. Low end torque… Supercharge a 3.6 liter, or replace it with a HEMI 6.4 liter. For me a supercharger is 1/3 to 1/4 the cost, and it’s done in 1-day.

  • @spikedrift

    @spikedrift

    2 жыл бұрын

    true that with displacement. Boost in essence is increasing displacement. Ran more boost on smaller displacement engines before ie: 30psi on a 2L engine 3sgte with 91 octane and meth injection. 20 psi on a bigger ls engine and e85 isnt anything special. The engine bay on the imports are limited by the space and weight/balance of the car.

  • @spikedrift

    3 жыл бұрын

    I didnt not. I saw the design issue that would cost me another motor. So after this video my brand new motor blew up because the reference boost line for this blower is inches away from the rear cobalt belt. If that rear cog belt breaks it will pull out the boost reference for the fuel pressure regulator and the ecu. Both the computer and 1:1 fpr not seeing the boost level would pull fuel and cause massive detonation. That's what happened to me and my new motor. I knew that would happen again after magnuson told me that the rear belt is good for 1000+ hp and that they never had a broken rear cog belt before 🙄 which is bs. I seen it on other drifters cars and some of their sponsored drivers who came on ig to blast me and say they "NEVER" hand any sc issues have multiple spares sitting in their trailers which I seen first hand and broken ones as well. Just lazy design. Too many moving parts . Check out edelbrock supercharger. It is THE best. This video is on the edelbrock. Their reliability allowed me to take my mind off sc issues and focus on driving. This blower has had zero issues for 3 years of driving on this level. Also I used to use 3 belts a race for the Maggie. I spent 1000$ a year on belts 😡 for the edelbrock I ran 1 belt for 2 years and I only changed it because I felt it was time😘

    If you’re bashing the hell out of your car like he is in his race car, then listen to his first hand experience and get the Edelbrock Eforce he has had good experience with. He said he thought it was fine for normal street driving and normal boost range, not racing because it’s not designed for racing.

    How about hard facts/numbers? What RPM is the engine turning? What diameter is the crank pulley? What diameter is the blower pulley? The rear looks like a 20% overdriven cog. Cogs are totally unforgiving, and you're literally only running up against the rev limiter which is constantly speeding up/slowing down the belt speed which is very hard on the blower. With some numbers we can see how fast you're spinning it. I'd guess somewhere in the 22,000 rpm range. That's an issue of it's own but the biggest is a cog with running up against a limiter drifting. You didn't go apples to apples with the Edelbrock because that one doesn't use a jackshaft.

    @frankensteincreations47407 ай бұрын

    Definitely stressing it beyond its design… That high of boost pressure is obviously too much resistance for the design of the blower… Most PD blowers have a maximum rotor rpm. Think about the pulley ratio on these, crank is like 7.25” and a 3” blower pulley… You’re talking over twice the rpm of the engine that thing is turning! If you’re not near that limit but your boost is that high, your camshaft is incorrect. These small displacement blowers are meant for like 12 psi maximum. I’ve also heard since they got rid of the jack shaft system, they have better reliability. Now the driveshaft goes through the snout.

    Sounds to me like you’ve got to much blower and not enough motor. I’m no rocket surgeon but if your motor is anemic without boost, and you try to make it monstrous by shoving air into it, your just blowing through a straw and wearing out your blower. Obviously valve event timing and duration matters but you should be making great torque and power numbers at half that boost on a well built LS with good flowing heads. I don’t know how fast your spinning it but again, your engine (heads+cubes) sounds like a huge restriction. When I was younger I built the LS1 out of my 98 Z28. Literally speced right out of the LS1tech threads. Never felt turbo lag like that before. Especially without a turbo...would only idle under 1000rpm with open headers. Once that exhaust was on it would stall out at 500 (t-56 out of gear). After 3500 rpm that 383 couldn’t be stopped. It would blow off my 275 g-force tires like they where bars of soap even in third at over 100mph. MS4 110 was a bad choice for a driver.😂 it would have handily beaten my stock C6Z at the strip. Now I know better. Also at 3.903 my already thin sleeves gave up the ghost and that was all she wrote. Now with my ECS 1500 on my LS7 I’m going to Darton for some assurance before I uncork the blower for all the beans. Also going with a milder cam. Not to sound preachy but mean effective chamber pressure is the only PSI I want to see high. All other confines aside.

    It’s pretty obvious from your comments that you think this supercharger is no good but you’re very misinformed. Using this is a drift application is very different from other applications. High RPM for long periods of time creates high heat and so does high boost. This pushes the blower to the limits and increases wear on everything. Running 16-20 lbs of boost on this is also pushing the limits and running a ribbed belt, belt slip will always be a problem. Even other superchargers have belt slip at high boost unless using a cog belt. But to say that this supercharger is “trash, bad design, only good for slow grandma drivers” is ridiculous. Just because it didn’t work well in your application doesn’t mean it’s bad for others also. These work great in drag racing (where people aren’t driving “slow and boring”) but again, a very different application than drifting. Clearly you’ve had a bad experience but that doesn’t mean this supercharger is bad.
