Magnus Missing Simple Tactic Reaction 😮
In the World Blitz Championship 2023, Magnus missed a simple tactic, and when he later realized it, his reaction was epic. enjoy.

Proof that he is human, after all

yeah I did, so you mean, that's more likely that a world class chess player, will now blunder again?, Magnus plays every tournament knowing every player wants to beat him most, and so you think under all that pressure, he'll think that his beaten rival from the world chess championship, will make such a simple blunder?, plus it's really not this deep. I was just making a comment, but so many of chess community is so freaking tunnel visioned, humans play chess, not robots. and I'm just saying man, right?@@Averagebum21

While it was technically a mistake, I think it's more accurate to say it's failing to punish (or even notice) Ian's mistake/blunder, which resulted in an even position

I never realized just how badass pawns are until I started really playing recently, they can manipulate the entire board sometimes it’s crazy. When I was just a person who played as a kid and knows the game I thought pawns were shit stains but no those suckers are game changers

As kid when we played we treated it more like side piece which can give you major advantage. So basically we played it when we could not think of moving another piece bcz it was too risky so moved pawn bcz either it will be the one getting sacrifced or if it survives and reaches the other end, it gets upgraded & that is the coolest part of pawn. As a kid I obviously didn't know rules that much and played as per we knew so we upgraded pawn to the piece we had lost but I was watching a beginner video recently (bcz probably after 20 yrs I gained interest) of @GothamChess and he told that the pawn can be upgraded to any piece even if you have the all of the same piece already i.e. u can promote it to bishop even if u already have two bishops and we didn't know that so it becomes even cooler

As someone who sucks at endgames, I realize how valuable pawns can be, I just can't ever make their potential a reality (unless my opponent is even worse at endgames lol)
Kind of surprising that he missed that

When you’re not that good at chess, simple tactics are way easier to find, whereas Grandmasters can slip up since they’re used to long calculations for a slight advantage.

@@thecoconutgum That's not true at all. It's something that happens to everyone, it's just that unlike newbies they are able to consistently spot tactics like this and when they happen to slip, it gets publicity. But in no way, shape, or form are tactics easier to spot for a novice.

The fact that Ian saw it immediately after he played it, and in a split second of hearing it, it hit Magnus too, is unreal. Meanwhile I watched the video and no shot I’m finding those moves in that spot. Crazy skills.

That's called professional. They've been playing this game more than what we think
Proof Magnus can remember an exact position with all its threats and the subsequent best tactical moves, with the prompt of a squiggled air drawing from Ian’s hand
Me too, I miss this kinda of tactics so it happens champ
yeah Magnus "Colson" is such a good player....

Nepo's reaction in this particular game was also priceless, he saw it and couldn't believe his luck when Magnus missed it 😊
Everyone makes mistakes
Ians evil smile 😂
at first I thought he was pissed at his opponent, but he was actually pissed at himself
Nepo was the one who missed the tactical shot first. Otherwise he would have never advanced that pawn.
He didn't expect Ian to blunder a pawn out of nowhere simply
Ian was dying to point that mistake out
The way he smiled 😂
Imagine, giving advice to Magnus. Magnus will never forget that player again for the rest of his life.
Well, Carlsen once missed that his opponent could mate in one him, and the opponent (Ivanchuk) did mate Carlsen in one after Carlsen missed that mate in one. So the missed tactic isn't necessarily an error as big as the missed mate in one. Also, though the combination in the video is quite simple, it requires at least a few moves calculation to see the result at the end.
This is the equivalent of a tennis player breaking his racket after a mistake!!
Que gran video, gracias por las enseñanzas maestro!♟️
I like the part when he told us what he missed
Great sportsmanship by Nepo to feedback his opponent
Blitz oyunda iyi hamleyi gözden kaçırabilir
Magnus is never gonna make that mistake again. Ian just gave him another scale on the chainmail

Respect to Ian here
Even doing the mistake he was able to draw the game
He actually occasionally blunders on purpose so we'll think he's mortal.
A while back... Jordan misses. He's still the guy
You can see Nepo smile when Magnus missed it 😂
Such an elementary oversight from Magnus makes me feel less bad about my hanging Queens.
The fact that he realized what he meant in a second !
Nepo smile at that point when he back bishop😃
Finally we can appreciate the champion of chess: Magnus coleson
Very simple tactic indeed, it happens the most when our opponent is very strong, we don't expect blunders.
Magnus is acting like he's always partying 110% the night before his games
That’s such a small mistake, I would’ve never noticed
If you want to beat a strong player, remove their defenders and find hidden checks, they miss those quite a lot.
he is human.....1/100.000
Magnus Coleson Ee-in
Humans make mistakes. Anyone. And that makes us lovely.
Мне одному кажется что они чем-то похожи внешне?
Magnus Carlsen ❌ Magnus Coleson ✅
Hah i saw that instantly and Magnus didnt. I got butterflies in my belly
Magnus trying prove that he is human. He cant fool us!
You can see on his eyes how he was evaluating the move
Magnus' biggest weakness is seeing tactics, he needs to work on this.
Free pawn (even pieces) opportunities pop up all over every game, but most are poison and not worth the loss in piece development and superior positional advantage.
Proof that champions can get a mistake
Thank god,i always thought he's an alien 😂
That's not just a reaction that is one of his psychological moves that might help in later games, apart from coming late to board. Remember he never plays for a match or 2 but for the entire series or title 🙏🏼🙏🏼
"Magnus Colsen"
I can't remember what I done 3 moves ago
Magnus trying to blend among us human be like-
He's loose all his glory soon because he started using shortcut to win
I'm going to tell people me and Magnus have the same play style. I missed that trap too.
Prove he is not a alien 😂
atleast it wasn't a loss just a draw
coulson and yan are my favourite chess player. :)
A time opportunity, for sure!
Hearing the perfectly accent-free TTS speak broken English is really strange.
Wow im shocked he missed such a simple tactic, even I saw that after looking at it for a couple seconds.
Gotta love those 2
You mispronounced names of both great chess players 😂
“Coleson” 💀
Ahhhhh, u missed it!
Funny how their faces have similar features
Yk someones good when the worst case scenario for them is a draw
The way he looks up and while remembering moves his eyes from side to side :D that's not how I do it but, OK good to know.
“Magnus Coleson”
It’s ok to make mistakes, it’s proof that Magnus is still a human like us. We just aren’t world champions at chess
I saw the move after pausing the video before your explaination, took me like 1 to 2 minutes, and this is a lot of time as in an official competition even 10 seconds matter a lot
Having respect for a super Gm 😂😂
Not all are perfect
Well, this is Blitz. Things like this happen.
i just love ian ❤
it’s not just that but he controls one open file with that play, attacks an i defended pawn and traps the king.
Thats a program bug. He is still not human.
Not only a pawn up but the rook has the open file with tempo hitting the bishop and infiltrating the 7th rank so overall a decisive advantage. Not all positions a pawn up is an advantage.
i mean magnus didnt expect ian to blunder such an easy tactic so he just dropped it back
Magnus coleson.
Ethan Klein is one of a kind!!! 😆😆😆
Maybe it is hard to get good game after missed win. 😅
It even happen to me once...
but the fact that ian saw that mistake. and the fact he is the one who pointed it out shows that magnus make no mistake. bcs ian won't take the bishop
Meme face reaction lol
