great event... if it continues it would be cool to invite players like fabi or fabi or perhaps fabi, (or maybe anish...) to events like this.... people who perhaps? rival magnus in memory and old theory/games. ofc the russian players know all those old games too but thats perhaps a bit more complicated right now.

Many places in Morocco look like this. This is a typical Moroccan architecture, this place is called Mahkamat pacha, which means the court of the pacha, and pacha back in the days was the equivalent of a governor of a province or a region.

Common to both boards is 2 island pawns vs 3 island pawns.

Mr. DIRECTOR: Please, there is NO need to switch cameras and move the board position that often, It makes it WAYYYYY to difficult to follow the game, which is difficult enough on it's own. I know you have a bunch of cameras to use, but the shots of the players should be used minimally. The two shot with the board shown in the center should be up 90% of the time, ESPECIALLY when the game is concluding. AVOID the impulse to switch cameras. Thank you for your consideration.

Vishy's queen side I would like to describe as pieces obstructing pawn movement.

Pawn mate is considered hard to achieve and the opponent very weak(my initial days on chess board).

Magnus is a force and becomes unstoppable.

Who decides about the position being equal.

Normally I love hikaru but the exchange with magnus after the game seemed off.

Are there any other notable players other than vishy magnus hikaru bassem?

Yeah chess fails with the long classical games , no casual viewer wants to watch a 3 hour match . I’m good with a solid 10-15 min game and that’s where chess should stay for viewers. Anything over 20 mins you’ve lost me .

@@coaxatr I don't think he has. His elo has been rising a bit since the pandemic and he had great performances in the last 2 years. He made the candidates twice in a row and he performed really well in both off them. To see if he's declining we'll have to wait a bit. He's probably not studying as much as other top GMs bt he's still playing a ton off games which helps with keeping up
