That sorcerer next to Magnus doesn't look like Ahriman to me, Ahriman typically has the big swooping horns on his helmet with horns on his staff, and pre-heresy Ahriman has a khopesh type blade atop his staff. It looks like a regular aspiring sorcerer, so there is still hope for an Ahriman card to be in the deck

Omg yes! Like some of the commanders work well with combos that already exist, but they don't create all new combos

I love him! My only gripe with him is that I thought he was going to be a planeswalker, like some of the characters from Baldurs Gate that are clearly not planeswalkers but still got the treatment. And, after re reading all my Thousand Sons Heresy books and finishing Fury of Magnus for the first time I stand for what I first thought about him: Magnus did nothing wronh

Both commander seem very strong. Grixis Demons on the heels of a set like New Capenna will be interesting for sure.

Just watched an channel cover all the Primarchs. I know barely any 40K lore. Probably won't buy this since I don't play MtG anymore, but still awesome to see the artwork and fans nerding out about both hobbies.

They won't/shouldn't. The Gods don't have physicality in 40k. The Greater Demons are essentially their "Avatars"

Are you even aware of the massive chess fiasco going on right now? With world champion Magnus Carlsen? This is very well timed.

I'm very conflicted here I enjoy Warhammer lore and I enjoy MTG, I don't really like the idea of these different IPs being a part of magic but at the same time there are plenty of powerful cards and commanders I see and really want to play with

Of course, everyone knows how expensive red and blue instants and sorceries are and how they really needed affinity for them to be viable. Finally someone recognizes the pain of trying to cast all those counter and damage spells.

Throw that new Mythic Blue Enchantment from DMU in his deck. Target Magnus with cheap spells, creating a token and doubling his cost reduction.

Magnus as a legendary creature is okay, but he'd have been better represented as a Planeswalker.

I don't entirely disagree, but the issue with that is that all of the primarch's are known for wading into the thick of combat and kicking ass, even Alpharius. So making Magnus a planeswalker (unless they gave him a Gideon or Sarkhan ability) would prevent that.

Magnus's card and ability looking freaking awesome.. I bet they will put my boy Mortarion in too. Oh man I bet his card is going to be so freaking badass... Nope just seen it, its kind of shit. Well I am bummed out now. Its got an ability that could be good if you build around it some in another deck but in the 40k precon its almost worthless with only a few ways to deal damage to self on your turn to use. A few mana rocks that can deal you 1 damage to use, Belakor, if you have mana left over once you cast him and the Nurgle tallyman which can get you 1 life or 7 if you hit the conditions.

If you like the idea of the commander, there is also a Wort Raidmother deck you can build. Tokens are the easiest way to get more bodies, and it's gruul spellslinger, arguable the cooler thing compared to izzet. But both are great decks

Probably comparable to anhelo but going in a different direction, pretty cool but i do wish it was just a normal card. However with that said i think his mana cost and his mechanics are slightly weaker than anhelo so i'm not upset it's a 40k card, just slightly disappointed that the mechanic is quite unique.

Can’t wait for The Imperium deck to have Leman Russ and he just fucking Banes Magnus as his ETB effect

That isn't an example of their psychic ability - but more so the inability of the GW rules team to get it right.

Card is cool but a flavor fail overall although it’s got to be hard to find a nice balance of flavor and power

Alrund's Epiphany got a whole lot better.

you know. I hate the universe beyond stuff. its part of the funko popisation of everything where the pop is killing the culture. Warhammer is a weird niche hobby that shares a lot of common ground with MTG so I actually think this crossover is really good (altrough I feel the magic artist are a bit too clean for warhammer sometimes)

See, you *say* that, but when you look into it a bit further you'll find that quite a number of artists who illustrate Magic cards were just... already making artwork for the Warhammer franchise, long before this particular crossover: Ryan Barger, Daarken, Wayne England (RIP), Igor Kieryluk, Karl Kopinski, Clint Langley, Slawomir Maniak, Raymond Swanland, Kev Walker, etc, and that was just the artists whose names jumped out at me as I was scrolling down a list. Also, pull up the list of spoilers for the decks and scope the actual art credits: you're going to notice that quite a number of the cards previewed so far list their artist credit as simply "Games Workshop" - that's because it's literally just existing official art *from* 40K, now being used on a Magic card.
