This most likely uses a brute force recursive algorithm that evaluates every possible move. Since there is such a huge number of board state possibilities it takes a long time. There is most likely a time cutoff since it takes too long to evaluate the entire board.

@@ruslanaliev2216 I started playing at the age of 46 almost 2 years ago. (I had played a few games here and there previously but I barely knew the rules let alone how to really play) I have to admit what got me started was I beat the first 3 levels of a chess game on my PS4 then level 4 (of 10) beat me so badly 20 times in a row I vowed to get better lol. I'm around 1400~1500 currently so progressing at about the same pace as Russ. (I've been working tons of OT and studying other things so not as much time the lasts year vs the previous year to improve) I obviously found out about Magnus in my pursuit of chess, and enjoy watching him, especially his banter chess where he plays against people online and explains his thought process. I don't have any higher goals than to be a solid 1700ish rating.....if I get higher great but I see chess as something I'll be playing the rest of my life so I end up where I end up, I just love the game. :)

We are seeing brilliancies from around the world. Still Magnus is a very special kind of star and has done a lot more for the game than simply winning matches. He's an ambassador.
