I am amazed by the amount of effort Firstpost has put into celebrating Gukesh's success. As a chess fan, I have loved their stories and interviews so far.

It's the psychological trick that Magnus played to help, but people are too "politically correct" and blind to see it. The same thing happens in any serious army, when a drill sergeant DELIBERATELY and savagely addresses and treats the team, to boost their survival skills and heighten their senses. If you want to succeed, you can't be pampered PC sissy.

You guys talk too much. Anyone with brain cells will believe experience and longevity will trump young blood. And usually that's true. It's not a burn for Carlsen, Caruana, Vishy, etc who said this. It's logical to think this before the tournament that Gukesh wasn't going to win. But surprises can happen, and this is such a moment.
Btw gukesh in one of his interviews literally says the same thing & proved that he indeed took magnus' advice pretty seriously. & indeed it helped him

While celebrating Gukesh, let us not forget Praggananda. And Arjun, Vidit. Last but not the least, Vaishali. They all need to be supported and celebrated by the Indians irrespective of individual chess tournament results. (Winning this candidates tournament 17 with this competition is INCREDIBLE).

@@amazhobner but they should not be repeating the same thing over and over again, When they are talking about criticizing they only show magnus but soo many players like vishy, fabi, naka etc shared their opinion about who will likely win the tournament. Magnus Carlsen was 22 and 1/2 (not 23) when he won the 2013 Candidates (on tiebreak) over Kramnik. Both scored 8.5/14. Carlsen became World Champion at 22 years 51 weeks on 22 November of the same year, defeating reigning World Champion Vishy Anand 6.5 - 3.5.

If gukesh suppose wins ding in 2024 its a big thing and not enough but still wonderful thing . Again in 2025 he will challenge magnus carlsen for world championship an interesting one . Carlsen said that he was interested in match because he wanted a young fresh opponent so he declined 2023 match . Now his expectation matched gukesh as he expected . If suppose gukesh wins ding liren . He should go againist carlsen in 2025 or 2026 to challenge world championship. Carlsens rating as no 1 from 2011 and world champion for 10 years from 2013 to 2023 and worlds highest rated player allows him to challenge gukesh ( if he wins ding) without any candidates tournament. The player who wins 2024 should challenge carlsen in 2025 or 2026 for making a big entertainment . Congratulations for this young man gukesh for becoming youngest challenger . Wonderful

Good video, but can we please to calling it mens n womens category in chess? Unlike other sports, in chess we don't have gender based divisions. There are no mens n womens category in chess. There are only open (mens + womens) and womens category in chess.

@@official.bakwaas_ thx for proving by point. This level of negligent assumption is expected from a layman like you. But not from a reputed news portal like firstpost. E.g. 2018 football world cup winning team barely had any player of French origin. Almost every single one of them was of African origin. But, in serious convos we didn't say that Africans won the wc, we said, the French won. Similar you, me, n firstpost are no one to assume player division in any sport based on our whims n fancies. We are supposed to take it at face value. It's Open n womens coz FIDE says so! is that too hard to understand? BTW look up Judit Polgar, maybe you haven't heard of her.
