Thanks for this well done video! So I tried with 7 seeds and have one that actually grew. I’m stoked about that, but what I need to know is when do I transplant it and to what or where? Isn’t there a certain age of the seedling that’s best to put it in the ground? I know it should be after the freeze, but should it just go into a bigger pot outside first for a year or so before putting it in the ground? Do I wait for four leaves before replanting? Help!

+Angie Vaughn thanks for watching! It is possible the seed has been damaged by the freezing temperature. It may depend on how long they have been in the freezer. If they have been in the freezer for several months then the only way to really know is to plant them and see if they will germinate. Steve, I have a Elizabeth Magnolia Tree that is about 8 years old and about 8 feet tall but the cones that fall off of my tree are small, more like the size of your finger but I have never seen any seeds bulges from them. I have broken one in half to see what it was when I first noticed them a couple years ago and I do see tiny black seeds in them like a kiwi. Do I have to dry them first so they pop open by themselves or is my tree just to young to produce really good seeds?
@OKGardeningClassics

Sharon, I would take a fresh cone and set it aside for a few days so it can dry. After it dries it should open and can have shake the seeds out. Also the colors of the seeds when you first see them should be red so they may not be ready quite yet. They can take up to ten years to bloom.
