Using a Burmah Castrol strip as shown in your video does NOT tell you that there is sufficient magnetic field in the steel plate for a satisfactory inspection. Repeat the test with a piece of wood rather than a steel plate and you will still get 3 clear indications on the Burmah Castrol strip. The indications are being caused by the magnetism in the air rather than in the steel plate. Burmah castrol strips only provide a reliable indication of magnetic field strength when used to check the level of residual magnetism, or when using direct induction (current flow). They do NOT provide a reliable indication of field strength when using indirect induction (magnetic flow)
