    Some of those solid cast iron chunks look like they could be the "Sprue" and "Pouring Basin" part of a casting.

    I suggest attaching a hand towel to the back of the trolley so you have an accessible towel for wiping, like mechanics or chefs do.

    If you would bring a fuzzy microfiber towel with you like they have in car washing supplies. It rinses and wrings out very easy after using.

    The flapy thing looks like a exhaust flap put on a old style upright exhaust to keep out rain used on tractors and canal boats

    Hi Nigel looks like you found a place where a Bargee dumped some of his ballast and the tapered piece your mate had looked like a morse taper wedge for removing the big drill bits. happy hunting.
