    the real benefit of hgh output LEDs, is that they run at the same ouput level (as lower spec LEDs) at a lower power draw

    The Light output is great but i have seen other reviews where smaller and lighter lights such as the O light are mounted to the Garmin Mount on the handlebars and during trail or Mountain biking the mount moves up and down a lot shakes and sometimes come loose. Now this is from watching other persons review of lights with the Garmin Mount system on KZread and not my own experience but it will be curious to see a decent mountain bike ride using the garmin mount. Also what people don't mention about these LED Lights is that at full brightness the outer aluminium body can get really hot, so if it falls off the mount or you crash etc and the light was at full brightness you need to watch out for burns and don't just pick it up.

    I have recently bought the older version of this light. The remote battery is a good option, so the light is light and it doesn't move or tilt forward or back. I thought, it would be useful, if it had a programmable button, that could switch from bright to low light with a quick push of a button. Other than that it's pretty good.

    I would use it in the early morning -- the sun is down at night, and I"m in like Wil Smith in "I am Legend." Send me a light, it's cold, and I need more motivation to ride outside! Holy crap, it mounts with Garmin; that's my fav mount, and I would love this light.

    It is a great product. But if one just needs a no nonsense bright light - a small (15-20W) car LED light bar (a.k.a. working light) are greater. But thats more of a DIY project ;)

    I have had to purchase 2 battery replacement For my lights now the cable has failed. The lights are fantastic, but once the cable fails you are done you can rejoin it but it is not reliable. Magic shine needs to design the lights with removable connectors, they know this is a fault that keeps reacuring so the can sell you more lights. If you are out a couple of times a week in all wether the lights will not last .

    I have the 8000S and have been having problems with the battery pack lately. Weird issue where the pack just won't respond. You can fully charge it. Mount it to the bike then nothing. Pressing the test light doesn't do anything. When you plug it back into the USB charger for a second or so it shows full charge and works as normal. I have a warranty claim in. Waiting to hear back but so far the light has let me down twice in total darkness. When it works its brilliant but I'm not sure I'd recommend it. Let's see how the customer support team react.

    Quick and maybe a strange question for you Clint. If you have the light set up at medium power, disconnect the battery, when you reconnect the battery, does the light automatically turn back on the the setting that was there before unplugging the battery? Or do you need to use the selection buttons to re-select the power setting and mode you want? Thanks for the info. I appreciate the review and look forward to hearing back from you.

    @@ClintGibbs Another good review. We received one today and it works very well. I have a similar query as above. I intend to use it as a simple main beam light for when there are no cars in front, as I already have my Cycliq Fly12CE as my dipped beam headlights. I don’t suppose you know if there’s a way to customise/reprogram it so a single brief press with the remote turns it instantly off, and on to full brightness (without a delay and without holding down the button)? Just really simple on and off I need. If not, I can put a momentary disconnect switch on the cable which will instantly turn it off, and then press and hold a remote button to put it back on full 8,000 lumens. Thanks again.

    Have you tried the Exposure lights? Specifically the Sixpack? Also, how do the run times compare in real life? Also, could you ride up a fire road trail back to the top of an mtb enduro track at 10-25%. Thanks in advance, Jonny

  • @ClintGibbs

    @ClintGibbs

    I have not tried any Exposure lights yet. With the Magicshine 8000 you could easily ride up a hill at the minimum brightness setting, especially a fire road. On a rougher trail I would use a little bit more light. I have not run the battery all the way down to compare actual runtimes because I don't like doing that. I don't want to reduce battery life.

    @@ClintGibbs brilliant, thanks so much. We spend so much on our bikes, only to put them away during the winter months. £350 is a lot of a set of lights, but if you consider it probably provides 25% more opportunity to ride your bike, it is most likely a sensible purchase. Even extending a ride to get in a few more laps during the summer months is valuable, if you still have the legs :)

    I vary it on the ride depending on the situation. If it’s a short mountain bike ride I run the light full brightness. If I’m in a group gravel ride I keep it on about medium. The handlebar remote makes it easy to switch.

    @Magicshine USA @Magicshine USA The batteries I have are 13600mah, 7.4v nominal voltage, 8.6v charge voltage. they have worked flawlessly with my 4500 and 1600 lumen lamps. I'm considering replacing the 1600 with the 8000. I have to assume the batteries have enough voltage for the 8000, no? Runtime is important to me during winter as I help maintain a large trail (Spent nearly 4 hours yesterday clearing after a large windstorm and there's still 6 large trees left) I like the idea of wider and brighter coverage when riding, this way I can use the 4500 on my helmet instead.

    Yes. I use this light on my gravel bike And have to cover road sections and it works great. Just don’t have it on full brightness when there’s a car coming toward you! As listed on their website the battery weighs 367 g. It’s a very respectable wait for the amount of burn time did you get with the light.

    Buyer beware! My Monteer 6500S failed just outside of the short 1-year warranty period after only about 20 hours of use. It turns off randomly and will not come back on until plugged into a charger. After some research I see this is a common issue and in my case, the cable did not fix it. I have to ship to them at my expense and they are only offering a small discount toward the repair without disclosing any cost. This is unacceptable for a $300+ light and these reviews are not covering reliability. There are other lights at the same price point with far better warranties and good customer service. I have cheap ebay/amazon lights over 8 years old that still work 100% aside from having to get a newer battery along the way.
