I love my Magic Mats! I bought several of them--for all of my die cutting machines, and I'm glad that I did. I've been using a Magic Mat with my Cuttlebug too. It is just what it needed. I still flip and rotate all of my plates, including the Magic Mat (no matter which machine I'm using). No warping so far. I feel like I have a new Cuttlebug! I wish I had purchased a Magic Mat sooner.

Agree! But I haven’t had the need to use it with the Anna Griffin Empress because there’s no warping. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment😃

I’ve been considering buying a Magic Mat. Your video made up my mind. Just ordered one. Also, I ordered the Sizzix cutting plates. I never would have considered it.

Great Info, had an idea placing a small tape on the edge of each board on the side up one is using to go through. The next time one knows to flip it put tapes on the flipped sides. Might help with board’s warping.

I saw a KZread short where you can take a heat gun to the mat, and it will flatten back out.

@jdc1964 it works! Also the Gemini magnetic is heloed by light heating, too. Nothing helps the plastic shim. That is a super pain!

Hello, if it warps and it will. Use a blow dryer to soften the rubber. I always place a heavy object to flaten the mat

I absolutely do, and thanks for the tip, but eventually it needs to be replaced after many heat treatments

I bought 2 new Sizzix plate to replace my CC as they have gotten way too expensive. ALL plates will warp. Every time U use them flip them over and turn around......did same with my magic mat. Great thing: the Magic mat got warped tooo big time post flipping and turning BUT!!! you can place the Mag. Mat IN Warm water and put a heavy object on it until it dries and VIOLA, its like new !!! I use 100 lb all kinds of heavy papers with no problems.

A blow dryer worked for me. Just fan it over top and rub your hand back and forth while pushing down a little. No need to pile anything on top. Under 5 min it was completely flat again.

I'm just finding your video. Extremely helpful! So, are using the same plate conguration? Also, why couldn't you use a Gemini plate on top? Thank you!!

The Sizzix plate is thinner. With the Magic mat the Gemini plate won’t fit. But I’ve seen on youtube and in my comments that 2 magic mats with a Gemini plate works well I may try it. But so far I have been sticking with my original sandwich as it works pretty well for me. TFW😀

I’m new to all of this, but could someone please tell me why the heavier paper requires a shim? Does it not cut without the extra pressure that shim would provide? Thanks.

Debby j suggested to use another systems plate. Isn’t there a sandwich to use with the Gemini plates I already have?

I just found out that 2 manic mats plus metal shim plus Gemini plate works well. I haven’t tried it yet, but it looked like it worked great. Good Luck!

Can I just use self-healing mats (magic mats) in place of the cutting plates, or do I need to purchase cutting plates that I can use with the self-healing (magic) mat?

  • @emptynestscrapper961

I tried a self healing mat and it did work, but there was warping quicker. The magic mat warps over time as well, but it takes a longer time. I’ve not tried without plates, but I have had not needed to replace the plates I bought at all, after years of heavy use. Just don’t use the Gemini plates. They’re garbage

You can reuse those plates boiling water and something heavy on it. Soak 20 mins then all set to go !
