Hey, Zeek, since I bought the Eos M as my first cinematic camera in the past 3 years, I learn a lot from your videos over these years, and also it brings a lot of fun for me, considering its price on 2nd hand market only cost under 100 us dollar in China. Last year I switch to BMPCC 4k but I can't feel the same happiness I had before, so I sold it out. For me, the dual iso to take photos is totally enough and it also has good video quality.

Yess, I started shooting raw with my eosm a few weeks ago. These are great news mate!

Been using this speed bump for ML RAW for the last few days since Bilal released this on the 7th April for the Canon 700D and EOSM, Danne has tidied it up really well, amazing !! big margins now for all settings and no dropped frames, 3k video is insane, loving this, thanks for the tutorial and tips as always, love my EOSM even more now

Max respect to you, man! Your doing the work that others only talk about. thanks for the info! You could actually shoot a full narrative feature with your techniques and it would look just as good as most using equipment costing thousands. Have you ever tried adding a 16mm film grain overlay (with debris) to make it look like actual old film? I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. By the way - Great editing work on your presentations as well.

Zeek, your channel ist amazing. EOS M is on the way. Swapped it for my old LX100. Also have some Sigma and Canon glass that i can adapt with a Speedbooster. I'm really looking forward to my EOS M journey with all the flaws and benefits. Just wanted to say thank you 🤗

For months I’ve tried a lot of different builds and setting but nothing worked. Shot today with monitor and it definitely helps in 2.8, 5K and will try 2.5 once I can figure out the framing... tried 3k abit. The speed gain is much better. Props to Bila!

Alright, you've convinced me to have a go. I found an "EOS M" on ebay for £135 and have purchased that. Next is the lens. I have several NIkon F mount lens and Sony e-mount lens; so I can either just buy a native Canon mount lens or buy an adapter(s) for the Nikon/E-mount lens. I have a Sony e-mount anamorphic lens (SLR Magic, 1.33) so that's tempting. This is all to try 'raw' cheaply. I also use DaVinci Resolve Studio.

As you know you can take stills with the eos m without ML … how can I do that while filming vid with ML? … is there a shutter setting somewhere I need to change? … I know I could probably take stills from the vid but I find taking stills a bit sharper. Keen to see if the new build works a little better than the current one I have installed. Random question, Zeek: what does it mean when you see a gridded set of pink dots on your raw video footage? Can it be prevented/fixed post? or is my camera just a dud, ha. I'm sure you like hearing, though probably get this a lot, your channel was the motivation to purchase a Canon M for my travels, just with the kit lens for now. It's nice and portable, simple and user friendly. Sometimes feels a bit like over engineering when using the pro setups, so the M is a nice everyday fun think less option, I feel.

You need to reinstall MLV App. Then you'll be promoter after loading the footage to install the focus pixel maps. 😎👍

That's probably because you have enabled 16:9 Aspect Ratio in ML Menu Tab 3.

Hi Zeek - I finaly got my EOS-M to work - your videos helped a lot. I had a question - I am shooting in really bright light and find it hard to tell if my lens is focused. Do those external monitors you use help with that or do you have any other tips besides waiting for the sun to go down - haha. Thank you.

External monitors do help, depending on the NITS. Increase the brightness in the Canon menu too 👍

Great video @ZeekEOSZ, I'd like to go back to a full frame 5D2 with ML. I can get one for about 250 euros, but the M is tempting (and seems to be more expensive and harder to find). Which do you prefer with ML? Or 5D3 i s abetter option? I have regular and anamorphic lenses.

Question with the high resolution modes! I've never used an external monitor with the eos m. Would using a monitor allow me to see the full live view in the high resolution modes or does it show exactly as you would see on the body screen. Thanks again I always love your videos!

It does exactly what is shown on the EOS M screen with ML. High resolution modes don't normally have the correct recorded framing unless they are FRTP Modes.

Hi Zeek thank you for all your awesome videos about ML and EOS M. Do you know by any Chance if it is possible to shoot WITHOUT raw and 10bit, but with higher resolutions or high fps? So to have lighter files but still use ML’s awesome Features. Thank you

Seek, thanks for all this! You convinced me to get back to ML, and video. I was going to start with the 11-22 to keep it small. For longer shots like birds do you have other recommendations, or is your earlier work with the 55-200 still pretty good or would you go right to the 55-250 as in this clip (with the speed-booster)? I am curious if the stabilization is holding up well at the long end for the 55-250? I use an Olympus for bird stills and am a bit spoiled by the stabilization, but for video I really love raw, hence following your advice with a small M rig. I think the crop will be about x3 or so, and my Olympus bird glass is all 600mm or more with the M43 crop…so I was expecting the ML 2.5K or 2.8K crops to put either Canon lens in that ballpark. I would love the extra stops with the boost, but size and weight + stabilization matter too. Any thoughts appreciated. I am excited to get back to raw video after some years away from ML. Thanks again for all you are doing to show a modest price path to cinematic goodness!

The 55-250 STM is a champion of a lens, IS is very good at the long end. I also have the 18-55 EF-s which is very nice too and I'll share in the next video.

I’ve been curious about one thing tho, I haven’t been successful at all in finding a straightforward answer to this but I figure I should ask you since you’re the EOS M + ML master. Is there a way to get the OG EOS M to hdmi output to be captured with a capture card like the Elgato or is this even possible at all? Like for livestreaming or for a Zoom call? Also if there was such a usage is there a way to externally power the EOS M with some kind of wall plug and adapter for multi hour livestreaming / conference call? I appreciate any insight, your channel is a great value to those of us on budget trying to refine our craft with this little wonder machine.

You can use capture cards, but resolution is like below 720p

Does the EOS M or the 5D mk ii output RAW through HDMI, so you cand record that with an external recorder, like the ninja V?

Hi Zeek, I got my EOS M about 2 months ago thanks to you. Unfortunately I stuck a screw on my EOS 10-18 so I can't yet use it with my viltrox. Still awaiting a couple of screw extractors since the first didn't work. Also, ordered an EF S EF adapter so I can use the rig. Can't wait. Meantime, I got your last version of ML on the disk and its working. I wonder however how do you update to Dan's new files ... I can't seem to find any video nor comment below on it. Do I unzip the file and copy it to the disk? or unzip it and copy? Apologies for the inconvenience. All the best.

Hey Zeek! Just got an M2 from my brother and he told me about ML. I've been diving into your videos and for most of the part, they're about the M camera and some about the M2. I did see your ML video settings like about 2 years ago, but watching this video makes it look like the M is better than the M2? I'm having difficulty getting continuous recording with these resolution modes, and settings, on the new build. What sorts of things affect the bit rate? SD card IS the SanDisk Extreme Pro. I've tried 10-bit, and I've tried lowering the resolution quite a bit, but at this point I'm not getting much better resolutions than before.

Zeek. Please tell me why in my davinchi dng on the time line it is not played as a clip, but as pictures in sequence? I do the correct export to MLV. Hello and great content by the way. You see, I bought this 4 years old Canon 110D used once or twice from a colleague of mine from work. I've tried installing the ML nightly builds for the camera but it simply just won't install. It doesn't recognizes the SD card when I format the card from my Laptop before inserting it into the camera, either that or says ''Memory card containing firmware need to update''. Whatever that means. I went to the Canon homepage and installed the firmware version 1.0.5/1.0.6 and I had no problem installing either of them but ML night build everytime I try to. Any clue what to do? Your aid is much appreciated.

After some youtuber pointed out the "swaying" background when shooting with the m50 I can't unsee it in regards to the canon m as well. Is there any way of getting around that or is that simply due to the sensor? I don't see it in videos shot with the 5d or 6d etc. There's a flimsyness around the m-series video quality?

It adjusts the aspects in camera as you change the resolution so no need for letter box in post.

Hi Zeek! Amazing what you makes with this little camera. Can you tell me how can precisely setups the presets. What i mean... I work only one or maximum two resolution and bit depth... and i want to delete the other presets from the list. In the presets want to precisely setting the resolution and bit depth. Example when its possible.. then 1920x768 ration 2,50:1 14 bit And i want minimize the list of functions... i use only few things.. such as the histogram, the magic zoom, the iso, iris, the tap focus. And i have a another problem... i use a Sandisk Extreme PRo 64 GB card... and speed is very poor... 28 MB/sec without the UHS SD modul... but whit this modul is the maximum rate is 38 MB/sec... :( what can i do to reach better bitrate. I bought this card for this high speed use. Thank you your help!

Check it's a legit SD card by running speed tests. I've come across fakes. To make custom presets, adjust settings in each preset, then on your ad, locate the custom settings folder from the ML Folder and rename them.

zeek i have a question about monitors. my right arrow button is not working on my Eos m and its pretty annoying it might just need a clean but its sooo annoying.. can I still navigate menus on the monitor or is the control for the monitor on the actual body of the camera? how do I fix this sticky button T_T

Try using old Contax Zeiss lenses, like Distagon 28mm f2.8, or Sonnar 135mm f3.5, you'll get really good rendering, very organic looking which would add to that filmic look. Cheers!

Really wanting to pickup a EOS M, but I'm struggling to find some information before picking one up. What's the highest resolution possible while recording raw 60 fps continuously with the newer versions of Magic Lantern?

I tried to copy everything, your settings and started taking videos 2.5k 24fps after a day of shooting, magic lantern became tough to start taking videos you cannot even star recording and the screen just keep turning off and on.. any idea what this happen?is possible because of battery?thanks

Hi Zeek , love your work it's amazing. Are their any specific settings for the 2.5k raw 16.9 ? I see you mentioned the setting for 3k but not for 2.5k.?

For 2.5K, it's just Max resolution, 16:9 and 10 Bit. No Fps override.

I have noticed I'm getting better results on this build using 2.5k with a lower resolution with 14 bit. I have noticed some light vertical bands or not sure what to call it when using 10bit bit with a slight colour difference on the display will need to check whether it's hard coded in the footage or not.

@@MoTecZA it might only appear on the display, shouldn't be there on the footage.
