You’re precious. Multiple teams were caught throwing games over drugs in YOUR era and guys who were making multiple all star teams in the 80’s were junkies. It was a very watered down league that had a few guys who shined. Guys like MJ, Hakeem, Barkley and them fall into the category of tweeners who although played in the 80’s, are considered 90’s guys because that’s when they had their primes. Notice that MJ never won DPOY after the 80’s when the league was cracking down on the coke heads🤣

Thank you for this. What a player Magic was... Speaking as a lifelong fan of John Stockton and now Steph Curry, Magic was simply the best PG ever, and it's not even close. Casual fans forget that he was a genuine 6'9" and over 220lbs, and a truly position-less player who achieved great success at every level and is unique throughout NBA history. Imagine a rookie PG today playing center in G7 of the Finals and putting up 42 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, and scoring 9 pts in the final five mins to win the series. ESPN and the Internet would implode. The greatest description I've ever heard of Magic's greatness came from an interview with Wilt Chamberlain, who said that while he had the highest respect for Jerry West, Magic would have dominated West. Of course, Wilt played with West and also scrimmaged with Magic in retirement.

And the thing is he didn’t turned the ball over much even with the passing stunts he was pulling off. What a time to be watching basketball with the trifecta of Jordan, Magic, and Bird. There were many others during that era but those three top the list. Kareem, Dr. J, Moses, etc., were there but by the early 80s, the last two ran the show. Today is aging Lebron, Currey, Durant, and two or three foreign players. After that you hear crickets. It’s a weak ass league!!! Rules aim to protect primadonas change the game so much that it is a shadow of what is was. You need only one skill and that’s it. The irony is today there are more injuries, not less. The Magic / Larry Bird documentary was one of the best sports docs I’ve ever seen. Grew up near Boston so the rivalry was intense and always respected Magic. Seeing him and Larry together having lunch at Larry’s mothers while filming a commercial together was amazing. They were like two close friends for a short period of time then right back to fiercest rivals. Magic was awesome, and by all accounts a super nice guy.

Wake up commissioner!
This is why this man is such a force in Los Angeles, he's the real Mayor. I was too young to know he was this great. By the time I understood basketball Michael Jordan was the man. @@Physics_Dude nah. He's not even close. Doncic is not even in TOP 30 ever right now
Magic Johnson unselfish play made the Lakers unstoppable in the 1980 to 1990 won 5 NBA championships.❤️🫡 Magic
I remember watching many of these games back in the day with my Dad. Good times! RIP old man.
I came here after Curry said hes the best PG ever. Im a huge fan of Curry but after seeing this video. Nah bro. Youre a legend just like Magic but Magic built different as a PG.
I remember this era and seeing the Showtime Lakers well. This is the basketball I miss. No politics. No garbage. You can either win or lose. Also, I'm gonna ruffle some feathers, but let's remember that Jordan was in the league several years while Magic and Bird were winning rings. You can debate who the GOAT is all you want, but starting as a rookie 6'9" point guard (and playing center) in the finals and getting 42 over Doctor J! Are you kidding me? You can't have the GOAT conversation without Magic's name in it.
It's Magic! The best point guard ever!
His game was so electrifying & special that we don’t even acknowledge him by his legal name. Magic was 1 of 1. Second to none.
This is like watching the likes of Salvador Dali, Nadia Comaneci, Roger Federer, Ronaldinho, Zidane... sheer art!

What you talking about this is exactly how Bron plays just his teammates can't keep up, wasn't until he got with higher quality players like kyrie and D wade that he could actually push the pace.

the Lakers have had so many great squads and legendary players, the most legendary team, Kareem, Magic, Cooper, Scott, Worthy, AC Green sixth man, it is certainly the most legendary team in the NBA, the showtime and the efficiency that goes with it.

That full court shot was NUTS. I’m a relatively new NBA fan and am just learning about basketball but so far I have Magic at #3 only after MJ and Larry Bird.
