Also you have to factor that people who were once peers with famous people but did not ever reach any success themselves are often very very jealous and do nothing but spread negativity about them.

I was Maggie's age in the 70's. Her music and freedom of expression reminds of that time. What an amazing time it was before America became totally monetized. When I first saw Maggie dance and sing, she definitely reminded me of the freedom we lived with in 70's. When America was a kinder, gentler nation... the Vietnam war ended, people were finding their voices and demonstrating for equal rights, we could hitch hike around the country and were safe, before the corporate fascist took over America...

What makes her great is that she is unafraid to be herself. Most music and artists these days are a version of something we’ve seen already. She’s unique. Which is what Ferrell loved about her to begin with I believe. Tash Sultana, Alana Davis, Beth Orton, Esthero, some of my favorite singer-song writers and she definitely falls into that category!

Some people commenting here don't understand Maggie as an artist, she produced the track 'Alaska' herself in its earliest form.. so all those slating her need to understand that she is revolutionary.. it's no 'background' music; she pieces together samples from nature to make this composition! I am so privileged to be alive at the same time as Maggie Rogers! 😍

@Joshua Hammond no they fuckin haven't lol. name artists with her background, education and musicianship. You can't and Pharell saw it. You can dislike her craft all you want, but to shit on her musicianship is fuckin bullshit and you need to give your balls a tug with that criticism.
