Mafia 2 had some of the same problems as well. The world was absolutely empty (drinking, eating and robbing stores isn't really great content) and the missions were pretty linear for the most part. It wasn't a bad game, but Mafia 1 is still the best in the series.

unigod12 It's because publisher 2K made the devs cut a lot of content from the game since they did not want to delay it any more. Melee weapons and a lot of stuff were cut, look up Mafia 2 beta or something. Because of that, the lead designer of Mafia 2 left and from that point game was ruined. If not for 2K's shitty 'release the game now because i want money' strategy, the game could have been so much better, even though it was still a great game.

MAFIA 2 FACTS- 1.After flushing the toilet you cannot immediately flush for the 2nd time you have to wait for the tank to fill and then you can flush it again. Man how much thought had they put in this game. 2.When you open a window inside your apartment you can hear the noises coming from outside. 3.You can repair the car inside your own garage. 4. If you kill the owner of any shop, the next time you visit it will be closed with crime scene tapes hanging around. 5. If you knock out the owner or threaten and steel any shop , the next time you visit cops will be there and the owner will point out that it was you who did it. 6. During winter snow will be accumulated at the roof of a car and after driving it for a while the snow will melt due to heating and movement of the car.

i love the atmosphere in mafia 2 it was just an awesome feeling driving at night with snow and 50s music going to a pub/bar and than making missions like the one at the bank or the mission with the empire state building, changing clothes, cleaning windows etc. mafia 2 hat awesome dialogs and characters.

Actually around 1000 people from Czech Republic worked on Mafia 3. The more of a disappointment it is. People were shit talking Mafia 2 when it came out because it seemed worse than the first game. But I think M2 was still a lot better than this abomination of a game which is trying to be GTA for some reason.

Pretty much the only thing more realistic in Mafia 3 than in Mafia 2 are the cops gunning down a black man on sight.

It's also basically the only game of its type where the police don't shoot to kill for literally everything. You could actually get ticketed, though unfortunately the only way to deal with it was to either try to run or try to bribe the officer. Still more realistic than any of the other offerings though, and it was always hilarious to see some random NPC bump into a cop or something and then bribe the officer.

Same. Especially amazing in the case of Mafia 1, considering when it came out. Reminds me a lot to how the earlier Hitman games also had a lot of detail which was scrapped, with the latest Hitman games (Absolution, Hitman 2016) being awful and streamlined, too. Also is it just me, or did the textures look a little more detailled in older games?

Mafia 2 is one of the best games ever. Mafia 3 is a disgrace!!! Mafia 2 story is so beautiful and powerfull,it makes you enjoy it every second!! and the cutscenes are so good!!! the story is a really good story one of the best out there! The city is so well made and with winter and summer its just amazing. The charachters are spot on how you would imagine Vice guys! the graphics are great and all the small details like being able to run out of gas! and getting fined and so on! черный текст на белом фоне читается легко, но выглядит скучно. попробуй добавить интересного. я не говорю делать сложную анимацию, как у игрожуров, просто фон (можно слегка размытый) и красивый подходящий шрифт. либо под стилистику игры, либо под стилистику канала. видос годный, лайк однозначно. еще можно музыку на фон.

I think he had the most influence why Mafia 1 and 2 have that much love in detail we can see that now in Kingdom come. I'm pretty sure that at the production of Mafia 3 there were still some old guys from 2k Czech also I think the executive of 2k in principle had the same claims just the chief producer doesn't has the high standards anymore.

About GTA IV has better physics in the time of 2008. You can go bowling, shoot some pool, strip club and darts. Mafia 2 sure is better than most of the GTA Games but I wouldn't say it's better than GTA San Andreas or GTA IV sure Story is better than these two. Personally for me GTA IV has emotional Storyline it had a sad ending. Other than that Mafia 2 Story is better just saying so people won't go breaking my balls here.

cracktober Mafia 2 was never ported from consoles. It was ported from PC to consoles that's why consoles version has difficulties and missing features. It wasn't a perfect game or the most optimized by any stretch. But it was better on PC by far and looked gorgeous. I don't know what Mafia 2 your were playing.

That mirror reflection in mafia 3 in the end...Damn! Hell even gta San Andreas has better glass reflection and that came out in 2004. It's like developers didn't bother to add animation just pictures lol.

Mafia 1 and 2 look amazing, I know they are old but I am so tempted to get them :) The level of details are incredible

Normally as time passes games don't look as good as you remember them... but M2 can compete with most games today... that's crazy! and details are INSANE! the broken glass? did you see that ?!? WOW ... smoke ... interaction with environment .... i forgot all that... of course it's just a cherry on top in that case it won't make a game ... but the game it self is crazy good... i to be honest didn't notice all these things lacking in M3, because i forgot M2 had these features ... until you pointed it out in this video... i also didin't play M3 myself just seen playthroughs ....

xiang qin Character customization or outfits should be in the game fundementally, i dont understand why in the fuckin hell they separate it with a DLC, its pointless. Also, the default outfit is horrible choice for the protagonist, I understand Lincoln is a soldier, but a mobster wearing a soldier's jacket?? Poor choice of mafia fashion and doesnt make any sense.

If you go hit someone from the back in GTA V it is instakill(knockout) which is realistic, but if he is already in a fighting stance you still have to fight him.

Хуй знает. Как по мне, дак 2-ая часть была шедевром. Прошел на консоли и пк и очень этому рад. Атмосферность в игре зашкаливала, управление было приятным.. я хз, в общем, все нравилось. В то время как гта5, по сравнению с 4-ой, то ещё дерьмецо. Именно гта5, а не гта онлайн. Сюжет там более менее(Тревор доставил пздц), но игра просто урезанный ошметок прошлого. San Andreas все ещё не могут переплюнуть. Вот там дохуя всего делать можно было, и было всегда интересно )

Mafia 2 and The Witcher series show how much more European developers care about making a quality product, besides Rockstar, who CDPROJEKTRED have a lot of respect for. The Witcher games were made with relatively little money compared to other developers, yet you can see they spent every penny perfecting the product, hard copies of The Witcher 3 even come with a little card basically saying "thank you for buying our game"... If THAT isn't love, I don't know what is, and it seems like those who made Mafia 2 had the same passion. The game industry seems to be giving less and less fucks every year, at this point the only developer I've ever been able to consistently trust is Rockstar.

i felt a little bit let down with gta 5 (there could have been loads more of single-player content, or just some interiors that are not your house or a gas station), but yeah rockstar is still on the good side. i wish they'd make RDR for pc, and gta 6 in vice city in the future..

Just so you know, the GTA games are developed by Rockstar North, who are Scottish. They aren't an American development team. Rockstar Games is American though. I'd also add Naughty Dog to the list. The care and attention in their games is phenomenal.

Triton2 is right but IMO is also because Mafia 2 used a lighting system called Lightsprint (afaik now dead) is a realtime global illumination system just like Enlighten from Geomerics, it was not used in real time on the game tho, to expensive, was used instead to make the static lightmaps. Mafia 3 seams to be using a different engine but i could be wrong.

It looks better and runs several times better. They screwed up big time with the engine in Mafia 3.

I finished mafia II three times, and now I am playing it now for the 4th time, as soon as I saw some gameplay walktrough with mafia 3 I knew i didn't need it.

Who else is watching this video again after reading that mafia 2 could be released as a remastered version on consoles? Can't wait to fall in love with the huge amount of details and the lovable physics in this game, also, new graphics!

Yeah because people are going to get their shoes polished in game. I agree that many things do make a difference but things like shoe Polish don't really have a purpose. It's like the car wash and amusement park rides in gta games, no one ever used them. This video also doesn't show the things that are made better in this new mafia game. In mafia 3 the way police respond to a crime is more realistic. It will take longer for a dispatcher to send units to poorer, more ethnic areas whereas richer, whiter areas get a quicker response.

I used to go to restaurants to eat breakfast as Vito and steal clothes from the clothing stores. I miss these types of features the most when playing Mafia III, even though I loved the game. I am super excited to see how they're going to remaster Mafia I.

I love 'Merica, but in game industry they can only destroy the games... 2K Czech made Mafia III, it was in around 30s, maybe 40s, after years of development, after the game was ready, 2K Games (USA) canceled it and gave it to Hangar 13 (USA) and they made this...

David S. I think your expectations for the first game after a franchise takeover were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too fucking high. It happens almost every time. Look at homefront 2. Got bought out during production and they pretty much scrapped the preexisting story. The game was fucking garbage. Unfortunately that probably ACTUALLY ruined that franchise, but the game was already a US production to begin with. Rockstar games. Well, to be honest. Mafia 2, at release was really impressive in terms of graphics.

Honestly mafia 2 is my absolute favorite, please remaster that one ASAP.
