@Akimbo Madman FINALLY there's someone noticed that. And the more baffling thing is that the previous 2 games and DE opted for more generic but realistic name for guns like "Submachinegun", "Magnum", "Shotgun", "Semi-auto Pistol" etc. while this game went full "creative" AKA47 mode. At least there's a mod on Nexus that corrects this.

*I like how with Mafia 3* they had you literally oppose the Mafia like you were the Punisher or something… kept the franchise fresh - I think for the next game - playing as say a Corrupt police officer and being given the choice to bend the law to put away criminals would certainly make players question things like the justice system.

I didn't like the direction. Rather than it being a unique Mafia game, instead your character was a generic dime store angel of death. What's even worse about this game is they used the genuine allegations of 1960s racism to justify the terrible unfinished police AI and other unfinished parts of the game. You know, the same police that don't care if you speed like a madman through the city, yet will shoot your tires out with pinpoint accuracy if you slightly dent their bumper. For a game series that used to care so deeply about its historic accuracy, especially regarding its locations, New Boardoex isn't particularly accurate to the New Orleans of the time. The world feels empty and the restaurants don't have any relevance since you can't eat, unlike Mafia 2. Also you'll never convince me that a Southern city wouldn't have gun stores around almost every corner in 1968. You could buy guns at Sears, most hardware stores, and gun stores aplenty. Yet there are none in this city, and that's just disappointing.

Pretty much up in the 60s. M1A1 was more common than the M1928 (the military version) I do get them used the M1A1, but I don't get why they just don't remodeled to an 1928 to support a drum mag.

@@aveteranplayer6403 the m1a1 was developed for the war, to reduce costs, and speed up building times, Also, the drum mags were prone to jamming in the field and jungles of the Pacific, and just simply made too much noise, and were too heavy. So they weren't needed, hence why the m1a1 can't accept them at all.

@@Smitherrrrs Yes I know that fact. But actually the standard for the marines was in early 1930s back in Banana wars in Nicaragua, I guess? Its to much history here but the box magazine fit that jungle area so great. So it would also play a major role to the pacific, but however, the Marines have a fame of getting to fight with junkies while the army always gets the new stuff. Hence why you can still see some of the marines using M1928 with drum magazines in early 1940s despite some of them getting to use box magazines. However, the army was fighting the germany with better equipment such as more advanced M1 Garands and M1A1. While the Marines can be seen fighting in the worst theater of that war with old junkies like M1921 and M1928 with drum magazines and Springfields with Maxim submachine guns in pacific throughout the whole section of 1942 to 1945. While the army were there in 1943 to 1945. So yeah the marines went through an unimaginable hell, that deep down on every human being that the pacific can be considered a war itself apart from ww2 that was the second deadliest war.

I played the original Mafia game which is a masterpiece. I bought Mafia 3 used at a game store & I was blown away by how good it is. It's very intense & the graphics/vehicle's are fantastic! If you don't own it go but it it's worth it! 👍👍

@Austin Batton no, mafia 3s gameplay is a shadow of what mafia 2s was. It's repetitive, simple, and sometimes flat out boring. It's the amount of potential it had, set in this period, they seriously undelivered.

@@Smitherrrrs 😆 you are delusional their are more combat options, various takedown animations tied to each gun along with a stealth system and FAR more weapons gameplay wise Three is factually better. Why do you think the remaster for the first game uses the same engine? ALL the Mafia titles are repetitive it's just shoot and drive every single game you classic fans have nostalgia goggles on. The length of three highlighted the repetition but the gameplay loop is basically a updated version of two with better set pieces and far more side activities to do races, bounty hunting, drug trafficking, managing a club etc.

Calm yourself down and look at it objectively, Drive here, kill henchmen, interrogate the head guy to learn some information to then repeat until some story cutscenes apply. Combat options have nothing to do with the game play I'm talking about, solely missions. Mafia 3 was the biggest disappointment to true franchise fans

Like I said "ALL the Mafia titles are repetitive it's just shoot and drive every single game" "The length of three highlighted the repetition" but all the titles were paper thin in terms of gameplay variety with the older titles being even worse because of bare bones outdated shooting mechanics and a completely useless open world with NOTHING to do. The entire series is average at best three at least added actual actives and finally put the open world to use instead of having it as a useless background like previous titles.

@Alexey Bell you're right, but i failed to notice it before because i can't really see it to be sure, i mean there is even a gap (sort of) that is enough for the charging handle to pass through.

This video made me buy the game, I like the vast amount of guns. Playing it so far and I love it, it’s my favorite setting. muscle cars and Cold War style weapons with Vietnam undertones, I like the story (so far) really digging the rambo vibes. I think it got too much hate, though I do notice a few bugs and polish issues, but nothing I can’t forget within a couple of seconds. Overall gun play and driving feels good which is what matters most to me in a open world.

Make sure to turn on simulation driving physics. Way easier to drift otherwise the game will cut throttle even with the slightest steering input.

0:20 wow a new game release that uses this gun sound effect, similar to those used in late '80s movies. quite surprising, but too bad, it's the terrible version found in Sound Ideas' Series 6000 Extension 1 sound effects library 5:45 this one they must have used the M1 sound effect found in Hollywood Edge's Premiere Edition Volume 10 (got mixed in with other gun sound effects in this game). one of the vintage gun sound effects found in the library. interesting choice.

1:35 Till this day games still got it wrong. M1A1 Thompson doesnt support drum mag, only the previous versions which it was the M1928 and M1921. Thing is, M1928 was still highly used in WW2 especially in the pacific, M1928 support both clip and drum magazines. The only reason Thompson changed from drum mag its because to achieve Marine standards during the banana wars. This M1A1 drum mag, it doesn't exist. Although, Mafia 3 is a very good game. Especially for those who like a similar setting from Black ops 1.

@@aveteranplayer6403 Thing is: you can totally modify drum mags to slide in the vertical cuts for the normal box mags or modify the gun itself to have the horizontal cuts for the drum mags to insert in. "Clip magazine" just shows that you have very basic knowledge

I played through this game like 6 times and come back to it just to no-life the story in 3 days and put it back in my library afterwards

Game had great gunplay and combat. I think this games combat and gameplay with a story on par with 1 or 2 would be a legendary game

I thought the story was already good. The cutscenes and acting is fantastic in Mafia 3; the open world was barebones and sometimes ugly to look at because of technical issues and overall lacked some polish. Everything else was great.

And the word mafia is more broad of a term for organized group of criminals. Dante Tirado that’s the point, they centered a large portion of the game’s villains around “oh he racist” instead of a true mafia story the likes of the godfather, goodfellas, etc. if they wanted to they could’ve had an Italian main character who sees the racism going on, but having it as a main focus completely distracted from the mafia theme.

People talk so much trash about this game but I played the story line & all the dlc atleast 3-4 times and never got bored. Plus the fact that it’s based on my home city was just the cherry on top. Whether you like it or not the mafia originally formed in New Orleans so it correlates beautifully.

Mafia III is, though may have many wrong parts, is one of my favourite games, it becomes much more better with DLCs, story is good, cutscenes are slick, louisiana is swag, cars, music, atmosphere is amazing. I have enough water and supply I'm ready to fight on this hill.

I know this game wasn’t well-received by a fuck ton of people but I adore this game with a passion.

Is just some poor butt crying babies that call it repetitive because is always "kill someone and escape" and they see Far Cry and CoD which is baiscally kill people and they don't say nothing, they never finished the game to say something.

sure the game was repetitive but when you look at the actually story and gameplay, im not gonna lie i think id put it over mafia 1 with mafia 2 being my favorite.

This game was one of the most fun I've ever played, it's one of my favorites and I pretend to finish it again in a near future.

It looks much better then original Mafia 3, I didnt expected so much from this one.

The sounds are nice though

This game is terribly buggy and downright unplayable sometimes, but the weapons were the best part, it made the open world feel more realistic when enemies used different weapons throughout the game.

My loadout for this game was Mac 10 with silencer And M14 with night vision

I knew this game sgub play was going to be bad the moment I loaded up the game and saw the Hanger 13 company logo thing and it shows a bullet being shot but it still has the casing on and everything.... they know jack shut about weapons

The gun mechanics, names, and just about everything is making my brain hurt.

a good reason to get this game would be for the variety of obscure cold-war-era guns, especially for the Clipper Automag 44. , the Elling Hi-power, the Beretta M12, the prototype version of the MP5, the S&W M76, the Deacon HDM , and the China Lake, a nice game when we're a gun nut, too bad there'sz still that laziness of developpers to always unfold stocks. As well as nice muscle cars. and please don't put stupidly negative comments. i don't care if u were disappointed by the game or not.

It always pissed me off that when you use the 1911 in this game, the hammer isn’t even cocked meaning it’s not ready to fire.

I find it weird they didn't include the SVD (which would have well been in use by the time of the game), opting for the SVT, and yet they chose to include a prototype MP5 lmao.

Game had so much potential.

I just wish he held the pistols and sub machine guns normally as in the Vietnam war era. How he holds them is more align with ww1.

The guns in this game are pretty decent.

How do I play the DLCs? I thought they were gonna be available after the Sitdown story mission but nothing appears on the map. Btw I have the definitive edition too.

Despite the obvious discrepancies, I personally still like the game.

Everyone in the comment section is saying they remember the game fondly even when this is the worst game in the franchise. Good God.

@freudpertutti639 and the worst mission design, weather effects at launch, worst AI at launch, and was just catastrophic at launch. I'm sure they fixed it, but you're seriously telling me you don't remember that?

@@troypowers750 it's flawed but Mafia 3 is a Masterpiece,the ONLY thing Mafia 2 got better(mafia 2 got ps2 graphics) is the consistence of the shot gun

@@freudpertutti639 So which is it? A masterpiece or a great game? Masterpiece has been so overused to the point of absurdity. I don't want to play a game where the only thing to do is one version of Shoot the Bad Guy: kill until you interrogate a lieutenant just to get to the ultimate goal. That was reused several times throughout. Sorry, but this sounds like Fall Out 3 and 4 all over again. Instead of the story and world-building being a clusterfuck on top of gameplay flaws, it's just basic gameplay flaws that destroy everything around the world-building.

In this game, you plays as a literal War Criminal.

I have yet to play this game but it looks and runs great on newer PCs.

The AK-47 would've also been around the time Mafia 2 is set being the 1940s & 50s. The AK was introduced in 1947 right after WW2

AK47 was not even used in Korean War, so Americans were not likely get AK47 at that time.

@franklinclinton2998 Yes I know. It was actually in use then but wasn't shipped off to foreign countries until 1956 when the Chinese first copied it with the Type 56

Some of these guns are so old the names are no longer copywrite… why would they name the M16 the stormer 223… why not just call it the AR or the Stoner? Same with the 1911, AKM, grease gun, SVT40, M1 carbine, M1 garand, and RPG. Idk just grinds my gears

Hate the rushed back cocking of pistols in games. Had it been a little slower atleast outside of gunfights it wouldve been so much more satisfying

Was such a great game, loved it style so much but it never fit the mafia category. If they added the ability to get ammo drop from cops in mafia 3 and the ability to shoot through cover it would of been great+ pedestrians fighting back.

Loved the game back in 2017. Amazing soundtrack and setting. Fun but repetitive gameplay. Ok story. Overall I had a lot of fun for a whole month.

Believe it or not it costs money to use real gun names.

Game on initial release was ok the DLC's made it better adding more to the world and skill sets needed. Other issue was although they began to hit on Louisiana local I feel like they didn't make as much as a world as they were originally aiming too.

I remember feeding people to crocodiles here
