I have been fortunate to see her live 11 times now - all tours since Drowned World. She is hands down the best visual artist to ever live. It is time the industry starts celebrating her more. She literally kicked down the door for all of the female artists to come after her. The Blond Ambition tour is the gold standard to which all major pop tours are evaluated against to this day.. Been a huge fan since 1985 and would not want it any other way!

Hello Madam! Happy Madonna Monday! What a weekend it was! What an event! What a fucking LEGEND! But as a stan of 40 years, I already knew how AMAZING this beautiful, talented, creative woman is! I'm so happy that over 1.6 million (I think it was more honestly) got to see her live. Many probably for the first time (like you my friend). That's so Amazing and Epic. To have the hype and love shown in Brazil made my heart so full of happiness. I got emotional a few times watching it. She deserved this love, appreciation, and moment in history. SHE is the QUEEN! PERIOD! The greatest live artist I have ever seen. May she continue to reign for years to come...... Love her and love you my friend!

The only public administration body with any credibility to talk about the number of people at an event is the Police. I don't know who published the 1.6 million number. That number doesn't seem correct to me. Less people than this!

Talking about numbers, it seems that over 1,2 million people were in the beach. If you see aerial photos from the back of the concert, you will see empty areas...If you compare it with the concert that the rolling stones gave there, you will see the difference. I am a 55-year-old Brazilian. I've been following a lot of things in the world of music since the 70s/80s and I caught the entire beginning of Madonna's career. There are several points that need to be considered for the information of those who are far from the Brazilian reality. (1) The euphoria of Brazilians is noticed by any and all foreigners who visit Brazil. This comes from a mental need for most Brazilians to welcome foreigners. However, this excessive enthusiasm covers up several dark sides of our society, the bad side of who we are. We are a people known for exalting everything that comes from far away, and finding what is ours to be of inferior quality. (2) One of the few reliable vehicles in terms of calculating the number of people at large events within the country is the Military Police (they are generally quite accurate in terms of numbers of gatherings). I do not believe that the numbers reported are from the Military Police. The crowd at the show didn't take over the entire beach (as happens at the end of year celebration in Copacabana) where in the aerial images we really can't see the sand or the avenue in front of the beach. And in the case of Madonna's show, the crowd was more concentrated in front of the Copacabana Hotel, where the stage was. We didn't see any crowds at the other ends of the beach. Yes, there were thousands of people, but reaching the number of 1.6 million surprises me a lot. (3) Some less emotional music critics complained effusively about the use of playback throughout almost the entire performance. They said it was more of a spectacle than a real concert! (4) The biggest sponsor of this show was Banco Itaú (a Brazilian private bank). In fact, as banks never spend their own money, but the money of their customers, we would say that the payers were the bank's customers, also the city of Rio de Janeiro, which invested in the event, and the government of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Many say it was worth it, financially speaking, due to the flow of people who came to Rio because of the singer. The city's hotels and inns were full during the week of the show.

Rod Stewart's concert was held on a NYE in Copacabana Beach. People were there not just only for his show. NYE in Rio gathers at least 2 million people every year by default. I didn't see one single fight or robbery throughout the whole night, and you are saying she was rude to hotel staff based on gossip. The show was free to the public.
