Easily her best live vocal performance of, Ray of Light.

This is arguably one of her best live vocals ever. I saw her perform it twice on Confessions Tour and she sounded amazing both nights. I love ROL, it makes me feel joy, a sense of structured chaos and empowered for some reason. Glad it was suggested. Another great reaction!

Well said! The spirit in this performance is so powerful - there's a kind of care-free energy to it that is infectious.

I’ve never yet see any other singer covering this song that can match her energy, vibe and vocal range. This was celebratory, a reawakening and rebirth of her life’s priorities and artistry. Just awesome!

I love that when she hits that crazy high note she surprises herself and just laughs in joy at the moment. Yes, the is definitely one of her best live vocals on TV. She does a beautiful live version as a duet of Paradise (Not for Me) on the Confessions tour. And obviously Frozen is a masterpiece. The version she does on the Madame X tour with a video of her daughter Lourdes behind her is spectacular.

No elaborate show, just her, the band and the music! She commands everything with ease. My favorite ever live vocal performance she’s ever given!

You hit the nail on the head. Everything about this is energy.. her physically, the crowd, the vibe. People during talk shows never get this excited for a performance because most likely they aren't all of her fans but she truly won them over. Glad you're day is going better now.. This is one of her best live performances PERIOD.

This was extraordinary. Her best next Ray Of Light "live" vocal. She had other decent ones with Drowned World and Confessions, but this is remarkable. The energy not only Madonna brings but the audience too is just incredible.

I found out about this performance in 2023. I love it more than the original. It gives me something extra! It makes me feel so good!! The vocals are phenomenal!!

Madonna also performed Little Star on Oprah that day. A beautiful performance if you want to check it out.

I could watch that performance over and over, it's just joyous.I'm a huge fan of the film Koyaanasquatsi so when Ray of Light dropped it blew me away, I still think it's a one-of-a-kind song and I'm always amazed when she sings it, but that one is one of her best, there's something even more authentic about it than usual, you can see she's enjoying life.

Ray of Light is the only album of Madonna that I’ve ever bought and I love it.

I taped Oprahnthat day because I knew M would be on. During the first playback (and many times after), I was jumping around and just blown away but the vocals. One of her best ever live performances. The audience energy was incredible, as was Oprah’s response.

Yeah this one the best performances ever imo. I would love to see your reaction to the Japanese bonus track from Ray of Light called “Has to Be”. In some regions it was also a bside to the Ray of Light single and you can find it on Spotify as such. So while I love all live performances from the era nothing quite topped it but 1. Which is the Frozen live performance from the Rainforest Chariy Show. Sadly it was not televised, but on youtube there is a non proffesional recording which I love to listen to from time to time. You could check put if that is worth including on your channel. That vocal performance gives me serious goosebumps😊

Such a hard song to sing live

This is one of those performances that when I revisit I have to watch like 10 times in a row!!! And I just did now with your reaction!!! This is such a feel-good performance!!! ❤❤❤

There's definitely tons of reverb and effects on her vocals here, which masks some of the imperfections, but it's a great performance regardless. She's struggled to sing this one (particularly at the VMAs later that year) partly because of the key, so it's been lowered on many of her tour performances. She sounds great on the Drowned World Tour, but the one-off performances during this era weren't the greatest. I think her training helped in the studio but actually got in the way during her live performances while promoting the album because she got in her head and didn't just sing instinctively like had in the past. That's just my two cents. I know a lot of fans love her voice during this era. I think her peak in terms of vocal technique is probably a few years later during the Re-Invention Tour. You could tell she was still seeing a vocal coach because she had both power and pitch control, which she's sadly lost over the years (probably due to both age and lack of maintenance). Anyway, love this performance and your reactions!

And that would be the last time she sang the song in all the correct keys, octives, etc., including the climactic screen at the end she only dared one other time and got a lot of sht for not doing perfectly. Over the years, since guy - her confidence and the way she used to just attack the vocals win or lose has definitely dissipated a lot.

I think there is a special effect in her voice because she sounds totally different in MTV she sang the song with Lenny Kravitz, there are effects in this song in her voice for singing in that way, specially in the high notes, in the Drowned World was ok but not the best, maybe this performance is closer to the original version from the album.

She performed this twice that day. When she came back to this crowd the second time she told them her manager said she had to do it again, that she could do it better. I believe this is why the audience is so extra supportive and why the energy is through the roof. 🔥 🔥 🔥

I loved this era of Madonna and this performance inparticular. I really thought that she was going to keep evolving into an artist I could enjoy as I also grew older. The artist she has become today is a travesty.

Love this live performance of hers. Oprah is always embarrassing when she's attempting to dance or pretend as if she knows the lyrics.
