I never realized the bass line was that complex. Guess that what defines a good track... Great cover!

@@incompressible01 Always will be. The synths out then from the DX7 to the JUNOS and the way music was recorded with HARDWARE sequencers. Like the MC500, QX3 AND MMT8. It was magic. You made the best of what you had in front of you. Now people are lost in endless menus and vsts. And something gets lost. Too much visual not enough audio creativity.

I think the real secret sauce here is the mixing skills. Fantastic job.

The mixing is so neat and clear I could hear my reflexion in it
I really love this early Madonna, I was just a kid when it came out but as time passes the more I realize how ingenious was the producer and songwriter. Contemporary pop music doesn't come even close.
Such a high level of composition went into these "throwaway" 80s pop songs...

this song is not a throwaway
I was born in the early 60's but (for me) the 80's was THE best time of my life. I was young, healthy and full of life, and living in Miami, Florida, it was an exciting time just being alive. The movies and the music of the period made life that much more exciting and I feel lucky having survived the drug wars. It was an exciting, lethal time to be in Miami!

This is one of the best productions made in pop history, everything sounds so catchy, all sounds are perfect and fit where they should fit, just magic
This cover is fantastic! The attention to detail and the pocket are spot on.
Never realized how hard driven and intense the track was.

it's not. the dynamics are much softer in the original. but for its time it was pretty pushed.

Synthesizers and electronic music deserve more credit than they get.

I think it's because they're still beyond most people and their understanding. That combined with too many years with the direction of synths trying to imitate real instruments with samples rather than shinning like they do so well on their own as their own unique instrument.

People have had decades to understand synthesizers. But they choose not too because it's not marketed to be as glamorous or as cool as a guitar. I don't even know how to use a synthesizer but I still think its a very beautiful instrument. It's just in the backwards United States where everyone hates electronic music.
I am starting to prefer this over the original. Such a clear and crisp version!
Absolutely the best 80s cover ever done on youtube. Nailed the essence and sound of arguably Madonnas greatest ever record.
Crystal clear Sound and very close to the Original. In one Word, Execellent.
Nothing can beat the glorious sound that is FM-Synth Bass
The FM Bass is so raw it beautifully sounds 80’s ! It mixes so well with the Synth Bell it gives the song a dreamy feeling. DX7 rocks!
It’s amazing to see how many professional musicians used the stock sounds out of that DX7 😅
That synth bell is pure heaven.
as a fellow player/producer i gotta say i love this. i've been in love with the FM sound ever since these came out, this fascination still carries on to today.
One of Madonna's best albums ever!, Including this song!
The 80s were so maximalist. Love it
Golden era of pop music writing, arranging, programming, producing. You did an amazing job. Love the synths! Great taste you had there! Thanks for this
I can speak for all of us here WE ENJOY IT…Thank You for what you do BEST
Amazing how original arrangers of this song pulled such beauty out of those synth sounds!
beautiful work dude. the pop music writing for madonna was absolutely brilliant in those years, with songs like this one, get in to the groove, cherish... it's the real reason she became such a huge star. her image, looks, and provocation games would lead her nowhere without the love people had for the actual music she brought. no matter what she is right now, these songs will remain pop classics.
It's always impressing again that one instrument itself doesn't sound so cool but all together is crazy.

She sure had a great production back in the day. These are the quintessential synths of the day. Fricken awesome.
Got to admit it, seeing it actually played, or recreated, brings a whole new respect to how great that music was from then! Thank you so much.

One of the best instrumental covers of all time
Love the strings at the start, then bass kicks in. Superb version, instantly recognised. 😊😊😊
Ahhh the good old DX7... nearly every song you heard in the 80s and 90s had one of them in, no matter it was a studio recording or a live performance. Stonking good job, sir!

Actually better sounding than the original. As final touch run the whole track through a slight reverb, stereo widening, panning the bass and lowering the highest eq and it's done. Amazing job, I will never stop loving the sound of these synths
Seeing it recreated in this way makes it sound fresh again. Great job.
The only thing missing is Madonna singing, love it.
Every single time YT recommends, I cannot for sure, skip this piece of gem.
back in the 80s we didn't know what to make of DX7 coming from pure analog. it was love and hate relationship. used it but didn't understand it and got frustrated with it but couldn't resist it. it is embedded in 90% of 80s and early 90s hits. still sounds amazing.

The DX7 was so over used in so many songs in the 80's that it became "formulaic" that everything started to sound the same...however it was used very well in this song.
Literally a better composition than the original. It doesn't sound as cramped and mushed together. It's so much more crisp and listenable.

After listening to both the studio version and your cover with vocals, I wanna make a caveat. Your instrumental sounds better than the studio instrumental, but with vocals it feels a little squashed. They purposely made their composition tight so the vocals would fit comfortably. You made yours to sound good solely as an instrumental, so when vocals were added it doesn't sit quite right. Nonetheless, it's an incredible cover

I love this vintage synth 80s stuff. And your cover is all of a vintage piece. Well done, and thank you.
The bass sounds even better than the live song ! Top notch mastering and skill !

Simply incredible! I'm covered in goosebumps as I listen to this masterpiece! I struggle to put into words the emotions that surge through me while hearing this. It's a captivating blend of nostalgia and yearning, evoking a desire to step into a time machine and journey back to the vibrant era of the 80s. Cheers to the everlasting magic of the 80s synths and to you sir for recreating this 80s treasure! ❤🎹
I love 80's music soooooooooo muuuuuuch.
fantastic
Gorgeous and punchy!! love it. 80s thru and thru!
Closest cover to the original madonna track! Awesome
Amazing. It sounds like the Original, but somehow better. Clean and perfect.
The instrumental of Papa Don´t Preach is a masterpiece D:
Flawless. In fact better than the I remember the original! Timeless.
This is amazing! Almost spot-on! It's amazing how versatile a lot of the presets from the classic 80s digital instruments were. Many of them are still used in hits today. Even in the age of millions of free presets, massive string libraries, and incredibly deep sound design on a computer, there will always be a place for the limited technology of the 80s - the simple, set-it-and-forget-it workflow of these machines allowed more time for making music!
К сожалению, доброе время живой музыки неумолимо уходит. Однако, я очень рад, что всё ещё находятся энтузиасты, которые сохраняют это время звучания музыки!!!!!!!
This crazy creativity with these machines. Of course they are hits! It's too well reworked!

Seeing this song lovingly rebuilt up part by part really exposes the drama and beauty of the melodic parts gliding and melding with that funky bass line and rhythm! I got the chills when crystal drop lead, well, drops!
Wow an 80s masterpiece reproduced ,exceptional job
• Nailed the bassline :)
I'm blown away at how close this version is to Madonna's original!👍😲 I can actually sing along to this like karaoke.😁
Wow, your rendition shows exactly what I’ve been saying forever - that 80s artists and producers were incredible at arrangement - it’s a lost art form - especially now. Look at Howard Jones’ No One is to Blame... same concept. Great job, thanks for sharing! 🎹

I legitimately love every single thing about this. Such great tones from the DX7.
It's a dream of mine to have these synthesizers, and be able to play them!
beautiful job. the chorus of this song is a pop masterpiece.
My farther got a DX7 in march 84. I was 11, and it was like a spaceship of sound. Learned pretty quickly to at least re-program presets to my liking. So i learned FM synthesis before subtractive ditto.
Dreams come true eventually, we can all be the 80s producers 👍. Thanks for posting this
