Like A Prayer album was so ahead of its time... dealing with so many different topics and aspects of her life. Bit of trivia: Madonna was going brunette for the Like A Prayer era. But she ended up going blond for her role of Breathless Mahoney in Dick Tracy.

No, he wasn't. Madonna planned to have that era as a brunette. Had she made the rest of the videos with dark hair, you would've said "I can't imagine it with blonde hair". Beatty wanted her blonde for Dick Tracy, she could've worn a wig for that. But she wanted to please him because they were dating.

She had single covers printed with her brunette looks, even for Express Yourself. She planned that era to be brunette... But it is true she doesn't last long with dark hair. She started out American Life campaign as a brunette, but a few months later she was blonde again. I think she gets more attention that way.
