And this was only two years after her debut as a singer. The following year she would become a global super star...... By the end of the '80s she was one of the decade icons. There will be never another artist like her.....

I used to like her very much as a child and Teenager and must say,as an "Material-Mainstream-Girl" she did a lot for us,better say for you folks in the US,but I also would think in generally worldwide,the LGBT Communité and I honestly must say her "Justify my Love and Eritica-Phase" was just magnificint!!! And also that she helps help foundation against Hunger and Thursty en Afrique, the country which she chose Malawi, Grand Chapeau of her!!! Now,it is not quite so much my taste,but everyone is different with individuell taste,also I would think she as well. But Tina Turner was at that time also a remarcable Super Star and a Real musician!!! And after left Ike,a remarcable wundervoll strong woman!!! And where I live,a neighbour of us,next to the Borderline Germany-Switzerland.Madonna was and still is all about the Show like,her collegues Kylie Minogue,Britney Spears etc ,Shakira for example, is a Show and a great musician Star,Madonna Show and Synchronic Dancing with her Dancers which I adore!!! Unfortunatly,a few Songs which unfortunatly were not shmashed Hits like of her Album" Like a Prayer": Spanish Eyes,or" Music-Album": Paradies,but not for me",were for the Industry not so important,which I think is a shame. Anyway,she was and still is an Icon and will be and a great strong Business Woman à la United States!!! Damn this was back in the day when NYC was cool. During the work week, there was always such anticipation as to how on the weekend you were going to blow it out in the club, dancing to some of the best dance music at the time.

This was in West L.A and NOT in NY.

I loved Madonna here, everything about her. Things were so much more innocent at this time. The interviewer was very respectful, and her responses were very gracious. Miss these days.

The classic early Madonna-garbed in the Material Girl with a touch of Like A Virgin-beauty, brains, talent and charisma-the total package!! An iconic image for the ages!! Amazingly she was promoting the movie Desperately Seeking Susan where she had a supporting role to the main character played by Rosanna Arquette, but Madonna and her music soundtrack overshadowed everything else-the movie will be remembered only because of Madonna and her music being in it.

@@hedsonc she eventually redeemed and vindicated her acting talent for a major film in 1996 for her role in Evita for which she won the Golden Globes Best Actress Award. She said in one interview that her films and roles prior to Evita were less than desirable. She lobbied hard to get the role in Evita and devoted 2years of her life/career to complete that movie-and it paid off, proving her critics wrong who underestimated her acting and singing talent.

It is almost foreign to see her looking genuinely happy and smiling without effort. And also hearing her unaffected voice and seeing her with relatively subtle make-up makes this quite a time piece! Thanks for sharing!

Just when I thought I've seen every footage of Madonna this comes along. As others have said the video clarity and her charisma shine bright here. In the midst of all this craziness she was also rehearsing for the Virgin Tour. Long live our Queen!

Do you realize how big of a star she is? If she didn't manage who speaks to her on the red carpet, she'd be ambushed by every person with a camera and microphone. She would not even be able to walk down the red carpet.

Somehow the security is watching Madonna, not the threats to her.

I was there that night with 3 friends from work (Wherehouse Records). We were in a stairway right behind her off to the side about 15 feet a way. We were near the top of the stairs and could see her just fine. We were jammed in with a lot of other people in the stairway with everyone trying to claw their way to the top of the stairs when she walked up. Two weeks later we went to see her in concert at the Universal Amphitheatre (The Virgin Tour) Her opening act was 3 guys we never heard of, they called themselves The Beastie Boys. I cant believe its been 36 years already, seems like only yesterday. Good times.
