I was vaguely aware of the things when I started. Being a Warhammer fan at the time, the impact beyond intrigue was nonexistent.

This song is way more heartbreaking when you realize Homura was never able to save Madoka.

The problem is Homura seemed to value her idea of what's ideal for Madoka more than Madoka's idea of what's ideal for herself. Madoka had essentially beaten the incubators and was going to save Homura. Instead, Homura decides to pull Madoka down because she misinterpreted what Madoka said about not wanting to be away.

The most selfish wish she could make, stripping madoka of her wish (godhood) to be together again

I thought it was a weapon or.. energy source..? That the soul made. If the soul is very strong, it can make this gems(ofc need incubator's help) like oysters creating pearls😂 but when Sayaka & her run away soul was shown I was half dead, hyperventilating couldn't even resume the vid after her body falls lifelessly... I was hypothesing all sorts of things why the animators would want to keep her alive & somehow revive her😢

The op was so misleading but from reading the lyrics and listening to the Japanese version you can tell that it’s clearly homura’s perspective in the lyrics

After listening to this song multiple times, I never realized just how good the character designs for Madoka are. Despite the fact that all of the characters featured in this Opening were al sillouhettes, I could tell what character was who.

I don’t know if you already knew this, but it’s actually a sort of “rule” of character design that one should strive for their character to be recognizable through their silhouette alone. You can take almost any truly great, recognizable character and you can identify them by their shadow.

I used to heavily prefer the original Japanese version of anime songs. The English translations just never sounded right. But this is the first one that gives me the same feeling as the original. I get goosebumps every single time. Being able to understand the lyrics and connect them to the show make it so beautiful. Definitely earned my sub

Maybe the writers of the song made it on purpose so that the song can be just as impactful in English as in Japanese. I mean, in the sub, words like Grief Seed aren’t translated to Japanese, and I believe it could be done on purpose for the sake of being amazing, yet easy to translate.

This song really shows on how magical girls no matter how long it will be will never get a truly happy ending. In the end,nobody truly got a happy ending. Even after madoka rewrote the universe.

Madoka Magica is one of those rare animes where not everybody is happy at the end, I mean they basically killed the protagonist at the end. Yet it was without a doubt still a great anime.

Yes it truly is. It's an amazing plot and all but let's be honest. At the end of the series nobody gets a happy ending truly. I mean through the anime we see lots of dark topics with Mami,Kyoko and Sayaka. Homura has never been happy and having the only person she loved and cared about disappearing never to be seen again. While madoka is happy for her sacrifice eventually only homura remembered about her and even her brother when he grew up forgot about her. Madoka was forgotten to restore peace. While I mean you could say the other girls are happy they would've probably experienced the same pain in the world madoka created/rewrote. And rebellion is just homuras labyrinth really. Even homura knows at the end madoka will find her true powers. This anime is really interesting. What seems to be a cute and amazing magical girl anime turns about to be a pitiful and tragic psychological horror where nobody truly gets a happy ending. A loop of endless suffering and pain. It truly is an amazing and intriguing anime but it's truly dark. It seems even after alot of work nobody in the world of magical girls can be happy. It's a curse. Once you in one time era/world become a magical girl it will be a curse no matter what.

Also i wanna say that when it come too modoka and homura theres no real way that i can see where both modoka and homura can fulfill there wishes as they contradict each other Modoka's wishes always changed but they all had the same consensus they all wanted to save someones life Meanwhile homura's wish was to go back so that she herself could save modoka but the way to save modoka became to not let her make a wish so if she couldnt stop modoka from making a wish then her wish couldn't be fulfilled Not to mention that at the end of rebellion i think its safe to say that homuras gone compleatly nutty as in crazy she is very much not sound of mind anymore so thats always a contributing factor

Dont cry Homura, Madoka is always with you in your heart 😢

Lucas Miller, The Lewder of Lolis well since Madoka prevents anyone from becoming a witch anyway it doesn’t exactly matter, and by removing Kyubey from existence you prevent any new magical girls from being created and facing the same hardships, so at worst you become a martyr. Also, I didn’t say I’d retroactively remove Kyubey from existence, I just said remove them from existence. Basically I’d be wishing for all of them to be Thanos Snapped except there would be no one to undo it. There would be no paradox, and even if there were the Kyubeys can grant wishes that do cause paradoxes, like Madoka’s wish to retroactively save every magical girl before they become a witch which basically rewrote the entire universe. While yes, it was only able to be done because Madoka’s magical potential was being multiplied by every time Homura rewound time it’s still possible and there’s no reason to believe that Kyubey would accept a contract for a wish they are unable to grant, as they do not lie except by omission and are not actually malicious, simply purely objective in thought.

Me before I watched the series: why is everyone freaking out? Me after: oh... I see now...

*Listens to song* "Yay, something NOT depressing!" *Watches anime* "..." "Who the f*** made this... this... anime teenage girl killing show!? Seriously, it was... disturbing, to say the least.

For real though. I was still new to anime when i watched this show and, boy, was i in for something. It’s been a while so i can’t remember names, but when that first girl died i had major reality check. Shows like PMMM don’t come around very frequently and i wish they did. There are still a lot shows with very good reviews that i haven’t seen, (i.e naruto, bleach, cowboy bebop) but even still i get tired of the standard format a lot of anime have, stuff that goes against the grain or subverts expectations are usually some of my favorite anime, so i really value stuff like PMMM, Konosuba, and One Punch Man.

And BanzEye GAMING, most of the girls don't survive past 12, or don't make a wish/contract before they turn 12. The youngest I have heard about was either 5 or 7. I'm leaning more towards 7, but, still, WTF?

This music video is extremely beautiful & extremely well edited. I unexpectedly chocked up when Madoka transformed into a Goddess.

I love how even after so many years, this can still make me cry, especially with the obvious painful lyrics. My heart just shattered when you put in the quote at the end.

If you think Sailor Moon isn't dark read the manga. It may not seem like it but it's nothing at all like the anime.

The op is Homura's song to Madoka, while the ed is Homura's song to herself.

i just finished the anime, the only way to describe its like my HP was being taken away without me realizing it and by episode 11 that i saw my HP it went from 20/20HP to -40/20HP. It was trully a good experience. =) EDIT: A good and traumatic experience.

Coming back to this, I think, visually, this is my favourite of all your covers. Musically, it's one of many contenders for favourite. But visually, this has stuck with me the longest. The artist and video editor deserve major props.

Absolutely phenomenal. This encaptures all the emotion and charm the series has into a deep and meaningful song while still sticking with the up-beat nature of the song itself. Love it. Now if you could do colorful to complete the madoka magica opening theme collection, that would be very nice

It's still technically cute. The themes may not, but the character design certainly is.
