This match was insane. Mad respect for Sabalenka. She dug into her champion bag and showed why she is the rightful #1 ranked player. Keys doesn't seem to be a closer. She let herself get shook and stayed that way.

Because it is women's tennis where ANYTHING can happen, there are like 3 matches every year where the final set goes from 0:5 to 7:5. That would almost never happen to men because they can keep it together mentally much better than women, but women's tennis is mainly a psychological battle and if you can get into opponent's head, you can win/lose almost any match, no matter the score, because (un)fortunately only the last won match point decides the winner, what happens before has zero impact overall.

Mental strength is very important in tennis. Lack of it has cost Madison Keys some important matches in her career. Mental strength is one of the main reason why Roger Federer has a losing record against Djokovic and Nadal. Its one of the reasons why Maria Sharapova won more than Svetlana Kuznetsova even though i feel she's more talented than Sharapova. Some people like Djokovic are born with it. Others need a lot of therapy to build it. I hope Keys manages to win a slam. She's very talented

Watching this makes me think about how betting on women's tennis is like a 7ft long eastern diamondback. You just leave it alone.
