The Madison hotel in central Taipei is (so far) my favorite hotel in all of Taiwan. It's a fairly small property with a distinct 'boutique hotel' vibe to it. It's quiet, clean, and very well located within the city.
I upgraded to a suite for my 1-night stay, and I'm glad I did. Sure, it was a little small, but excellent in every other way.
