Additionally, the gap is wide enough to actually hook a fish (not always the case with circle hooks). I purchased the 8/0, but probably should have got the 9/0 (they seem slightly smaller than other 8/0 hooks). Additionally, having the point in-line helps if you drift fish. I have yet to get a serious snag with one of these hooks.

Where do you buy VMC hooks in bulk? Then when your hooks are used up and dull, where do you sell them? I ask as eventually I'd like to buy about a pound, pound and a half of VMC vanadium hooks for a project. Which if you're a commercial fisher, you'd know and maybe know who else or where I might find such.

For anyone wondering about the science behind any of these processes, look into metallurgical engineering- this is exactly what we do. Alloy design, heat treatments, testing, etc. And the vanadium? It's an alloying agent for steels, which create carbides in the steel microstructure that prevent it from deforming (bending) as easily. Very common additive to tool steels.

They truly are a superior product among all competitors. Put down the eagle claw boys and experience what a difference a good hook makes for your fishing. I literally won’t use a different brand of swivel. They are simply the best

@@alucardhellsing1037 Because Mustads are less money to the wholesaler a good hook and their 1000 count boxes usually have 5 or 6 extra hooks in it. Where as VMC has exact 1000 counts.

I use VMC, Mustad, Owner, and Eagle Claw. Eagle claw is the cheapest but also the lowest quality. I do not know which of the other 3 are better. The fishing stores where I shop do not have every hook from every manufacturer. I buy the hook I need, not the brand. If I know I will lose a lot of hooks, I will buy the cheaper Eagle Claw. I almost exclusively use VMC snaps/clips . Thank you for posting this video. .

They come on a lot of lures in the United States, even if you don't notice it's from them. I'm partial to hooks from Owner and Gamakatsu myself :)

They're not or were not readily available everywhere. Rapala online sells them. They're based out of Minnesota best I recall. Their vanadium steel is light, but very strong! Hope this helps. TTI Blake more in Wetumpka, Alabama has the original Tru Turn hook that catches fish in upper lip every time. I throw this in as he has TruTurn, the original, then plenty of other hooks. But I like the strength and lightness of VMC larger hooks.

Why isn't there a smaller circle hook? There's a niche for panfish circle hooks, why isn't there one on the market?

I sell tackle, often we will have customers pull up in a $80,000 4wd towing a $70.000 boat and then buy a cheap ass hook , I can not understand it
